Download Windows 7 Disc Images (ISO Files) Posted: 01 Mar 2020 07:00 AM PST Does the link below create a "current" (late 2019ish) image or only the old, final disc one from 2011? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 The 10 version creates a current one for sure. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 [link] [comments]

Can't install Windows 10 - MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION Posted: 01 Mar 2020 05:14 PM PST So, when I first built my computer, when I installed Windows, after the first restart, it would load for about 5 minutes, freeze, and then I would get a BSOD with the error "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION". To get Windows installed, I have to install Windows 7, then do the 10 upgrade. The board was sitting in storage for about 6 years, and it had a CPU installed (but I changed the CPU because it wasn't compatible with my RAM). Could it be board damage? I want to know this because I'm installing an SSD soon, I have also tried reseatting and changing around the slots the RAM is in. If needed, here are the system specs: MSI P55A-G55 (Legacy boot, board doesn't support UEFI) Intel Core i5-750 (originally i3-530, but changed due to incompatible RAM) 8GB DDR3 G.Skill RAM AMD Radeon HD 7870 (powercolor PCS+ edition) 2TB 7200RPM Seagate HDD (main drive) 500GB 7200RPM Seagate HDD (second drive [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Mar 2020 03:55 PM PST So, this has been happening for a while with explorer on my computer. I'm using Win 10 Professional. When I go to the Start Menu to open anything(Documents, Downloads, etc.) it will close Start like it's opening but will sometimes take upward to a minute to actually open any window. This will usually go quicker if I just open the Start Menu again. I have Win stored on an 1TB HDD that's about 3 years old. I have an SSD but I'm not quite sure how to just have Windows run from it while everything else is still stored on my current HDD. Is there a fix for this? I've tried re-indexing and turning off the Windows Search service but it will still have that delay. [link] [comments]
How do I find out if upgrading from Windows 7 to 10 will format my HD? Posted: 01 Mar 2020 03:33 PM PST Is there any way to find out for certain if making the jump from 7 to 10 will format my harddrive? I want to know in case I need to first get around to backing up data before I upgrade. [link] [comments]
Hotmail account connected to local user. Posted: 01 Mar 2020 03:18 PM PST My admin account is local. But for some reason I have two hotmail accounts connected to it. One of which I can actually delete. But the other doesn't have a delete option. It's set to "all apps are allowed to use" (I'm using german as a language option so it's hard to say.) What can I do to delete it? [link] [comments]
How does the ISO works on the Microsoft page? Posted: 01 Mar 2020 03:59 AM PST Hi guys I have an original Win10 on my laptop, but the guy whom I bought it from installed it. As I look to reinstall the OP system on my laptop, I was wondering if I install the original Win10 ISO from the page, do I have to give an activation key? If not will it work as before? Thank you for the help! [link] [comments]
Windows boots to black screen. Posted: 01 Mar 2020 02:25 PM PST I can get passed BIOS logo but then goes straight to black screen with cursor, can't get to the desktop or ctrl+alt+del. Did the thing where you turn off pc 3 times on boot to get to the troubleshooting page. From there I selected startup repair but it said it couldn't repair and redirected me to a log at D:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt. Checked it out in the elevated command prompt and it said, "A recently serviced boot binary is corrupt" "Repair Action: uninstall latest LCU" "Result: Failed. error code = 0x490". I've tried turning off fast boot, uninstalling updates from troubleshooting page, turning off OC's, going into safe mode, but none of it has worked. Please help [link] [comments]
How does one troubleshoot long login and logoff times with Windows? Posted: 01 Mar 2020 06:51 AM PST I am hitting an issue where login times are taking close to two minutes (with a cold boot, no fast boot in UEFI or Windows). In addition, logoff times are creating a similar delay. I am stuck on a screen that says "Signing out", except this screen stays for like five minutes. Other days, the login and logoff is 15 seconds. How would I go about troubleshooting this? Edit: The OS is Windows 10, 1909, 64-bit with latest windows updates installed. It uses a Samsung ssd and has 8GB RAM, Intel i5. [link] [comments]
Can't reactivate windows 10 after hardware change. Posted: 01 Mar 2020 01:54 PM PST So, I recently got a new motherboard, when I went to reactivate windows 10, I went through the troubleshooting way. I went back to my old computer, and reinstalled windows there. I went through the same process as I did on the new one. I chose pro, logged in with the same Microsoft account, and windows was activated on the old one. This new one just won't work though, I've tried reinstalling. Removing my old device form my eindoes devices. [link] [comments]
More options for "turn wifi back on after x hours"? Posted: 01 Mar 2020 01:46 PM PST When I turn off wifi windows 10 automatically turns it back on after 1, 4, or 24 hours. Cool feature, but pretty limited. Is there any way (even regedit) to set my own time? [link] [comments]

Will upgrading my RAM improve the performance of my laptop? Posted: 29 Feb 2020 10:45 PM PST I have a pretty basic, cookie-cutter laptop that I suppose serves me well. It has 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 1.35ghz AMD processor and some other stuff that idk about. I want to upgrade it to be able to multi-task, like having Visual Studio Code open, Spotify, and Chrome at the same time and switch between them with ease. Should I upgrade to 16GB of RAM? Also I'm running an HDD, should I upgrade to an SSD? Or should I just say fuck it an buy a new laptop, haha [link] [comments]
Aside using msconfig is there any other way to reduce the boot time? Posted: 01 Mar 2020 07:50 AM PST I remember there was a place I went and removed a bunch of weird custom scripts that were running during boot and it improved the boot time by 45 seconds, but I don't remember what it was. It wasn't msconfig and it was a Windows util, but I don't remember what it was. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Mar 2020 05:49 AM PST Hi, I've got a windows 7 activated installation disc and I'm trying to install it instead of windows 10, but I keep getting the unexpected error message after copying temporary files. I can't boot from disc either. Is it possible remove windows 10 and start over with 7? Thanks [link] [comments] |
