Help! My recently built PC now displays no signal to monitor, keyboard, or mouse. Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:20 AM PDT (SOLVED) I recently built a gaming pc 9 days ago with these components: -Ryzen 5 3600 -Powercolor RX 5700 -Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi -Crucial 1TB NVme m.2 ssd -550 Watt Powerspec PSU -Corsair Vengeance RGB ram My system is currently operating on windows 10. Two days ago I was doing some gaming when my screen froze. I then manually turned off the PC, and now whenever I turn it on, the lights and the fans turn on, but their is no signal to the monitor or the mouse and keyboard. I tried switching the monitor so I know it's my PC, and I've also tried removing both the ram and the GPU and putting them back in and nothing works. I would really appreciate someone's help right now please! After feedback from another post I made, I replaced my PSU with another unit, specifically a evga 80 plus bronze 600 watt psu and yet my system STILL doesn't work. Please, if anyone knows the solution please tell me. Edit: Thanks for all your help guys, because my mouse and keyboard work without the gpu, it has lead me to Believe that it is the problem. I'll update once I buy and replace the gpu. Edit (2): This problem is now fixed, I replaced my gpu with another unit. Thanks for the help guys! Posted: 31 Mar 2020 01:24 PM PDT My PC is on the other side of the house from my router so unfortunately the speed is a bit slow. However, I do have one of these outlets in my room: https://i.imgur.com/Q0YDwH3.jpg?1 I tried plugging in my ethernet directly to the second hole but I don't think that worked. After 7 years of postponing, finally build my own PC! Posted: 31 Mar 2020 02:45 PM PDT First time ever building and it went really smooth! Learned alot because of the amazing community here! So thank you everyone! Only thing that took some time was linking all the fans with the Commander Pro and the little ones but in the end it worked first try! https://i.imgur.com/RIfFD0F.jpg More pics on pcpartpicker!: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/gCpG3C List: PCPartPicker Part List [link] [comments]

Building a PC during Covid -UK Posted: 31 Mar 2020 09:14 AM PDT Hey hope everyone's keeping safe! Just wanted to ask if it's difficult to get parts during these times from amazon etc. Has anyone gotten parts or went through with a build? I'm looking to upgrade my pc maybe even make a new build, what do you guys think? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Mar 2020 02:09 PM PDT I am looking to upgrade the computer I built 6 years ago. AMD FX 6350 (two cores disabled because something broke) Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 1GB I am hoping I can use this cooler but it does not have the correct socket listed in compatibility. I hope they just stopped updating it. I will replace it if needed if it doesn't fit on the CPU. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/gpw323/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rrb10212pg1 I have narrowed it down to two builds but I am not sure which way to go. I do some gaming but not AAA titles. For reference I just bought Just Cause 3 on sale and that will be the first game I play. What it will be used more for is using Matlab for data analysis and I am starting to learn to make programs using Visual Studio. I think either build will handle the gaming I plan to do but I am curious what sort of differences in performance I will see in Matlab or Visual Studio (or another IDE). The only issues that pop up in the Matlab documentation are: "MATLAB performance is dependent on the presence of floating-point hardware. On many CPUs, the number of Floating-Point Units (FPUs) equals the number of CPU cores. However, on some processors, a single FPU may be shared between multiple CPU cores, potentially creating a performance bottleneck." Any suggestions for improvement on either of these is welcome as I'm just kind of learning about all this stuff. The two builds: (The RAM I already purchased while it was on sale) The best I plan to build.
The lowest I want to go. The 1600 will be a 1600 af.

Where does all the noise come from in a PC?? (Other than case fans) Posted: 31 Mar 2020 10:40 AM PDT I'm sure this has been asked before, but since it varies on a case by case basis, I couldn't find a straight answer anywhere. People mostly just say it's the case fans and you need to buy quieter fans. I always thought the noise was primarily caused by my fans too. I have 6 case fans (2x360mm rad custom loop, no CPU blower) and I run them at 9% speed and its overall pretty quiet. Well today I decided to turn the fans off altogether and to my suprise, i noticed the noise level was basically the same as with my fans on low speed. The obvious other sources are my power supply (EVGA supernova 750 G2) and hard drive (WD blue 2tb). I can't imagine my hard drive makes that much noise other than those occasional mechanical read write sounds that I hear. Are there any other key sources I might be missing? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 05:15 PM PDT First time builder, just wondering if this would perform well or if there's anything I'm forgetting. If it helps, I looking to play games like the new Mount & Blade and Total War, maybe some AAA games like Call of Duty and Overwatch on 1080p. Thanks! Posted: 31 Mar 2020 09:04 AM PDT So right now i have 2x8gb DDR4 2400Mhz. If i buy 2x8 DDR4 3200Mhz, am i ok to add the different speeds and make it 32gb or am I better off just replacing the RAM and leaving it at 16gb? [link] [comments]

Weird rpm readings using Noctua's Low Noise Adapter Posted: 31 Mar 2020 03:15 PM PDT I built my first PC like a month ago (https://pcpartpicker.com/b/Qs6scf ) and today decided to fine-tuning my fan curves. My case is a TT Core V1, which comes with an intake 200m fan at the front. I have that one plugged into the sys_fan header of my mobo (DC controlled) and then the CPU cooler + 2 80mm exhaust fans plugged to the cpu_fan header, running all together (PWM controlled). So, I noticed that the front fan has almost no effect on temps, as the CPU cooler suffices for CPU cooling and the 2 80mm also spin up when CPU temp rises, exhausting hot air. The GPU takes air directly from outside the case so almost no effect on its temps neither. Because of this I decided to use the LNA cable that came with the CPU cooler to spin down a bit the front fan, it was easier that way that to go back to motherboard and lower the voltage output. It was fine when I plugged it in, fan was spinning proporcionately slower (max went from ~800rpm to ~530rpm). But after some light gaming I check the fan graph and it has several spikes to max revs ( check here! ). Now, I do not think it's really spinning up and down like that, but I'm unsure as what might be causing these readings or if it really is trying step rpms like that. Any ideas about it? Building a pc H510 elite case smart hub smokes Posted: 31 Mar 2020 05:43 PM PDT Please bare with me as I'm not an expert in building PC. I just plug and usually they all just work. I recently bought the H510 elite case and Asus PRIME X570-P, they were doing fine and everything. Tested all the components without plugging the case fans as well and I could install Windows, etc. However, when I proceeded to put the USB header (USB11 on the motherboard) for the case fan (turned off everything first), it didn't get recognised, the fan didn't run, the rgb light didn't light up. OK, so I thought I needed to install the cam app. So, I did. Still not recognised. Well, there are two USB 2.0 headers on the motherboard. I replugged the smart hub cable into the other motherboard USB header (usb910). When I tried to turn on the pc, it lights up, but nothing runs, the BIOS didn't even load, nothing, I couldn't even hold down the power button to force it to shut down. I had to turn off the PSU. After some Googling, people were suggesting that it might be the BIOS not recognising the devices correctly, etc. So I decided to update the bios to the latest one (1405?). At this point, the USB plug for the smart hub is still attached to the USB910 and the moment I turned it on, it started smoking! Rushed quickly to turn off everything, plugged the PSU power cable out as well. By this point, I don't know which and which are faulty anymore. Has anybody had problems with this? I'm trying to contact the seller and nzxt to help me with this as well. [link] [comments]
Finished assembly, plugged in the monitor for the first time, and I’m not sure what comes next. Posted: 31 Mar 2020 05:24 PM PDT I'm getting a message on my monitor that says "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in select boot device and press a key". Is this normal? What do I do now? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
i5 9400f or Ryzen 5 (1600 or 2600) Posted: 31 Mar 2020 06:36 AM PDT I have a gtx 1050 ti from msi and an old i5 3470 that is slowing down PC while playing because of the low core and thread count (i think). Therefor I'm planning to upgrade my CPU to something new, so would you recommend an i5 9400f or a Ryzen 5 (could be 1600 or 2600). I'm leaning more towards Ryzen because they offer more for less money, but I've heard that they have insane overheating problems where the temp of the CPU rises so much. Would this be a problem? Anyways after I'll pick the perfect CPU ill also need a new motherboard to support it (mine's really old), so what would you recommend (something cheap) [link] [comments]
New PC won't boot up AT ALL. Frustrated! Posted: 31 Mar 2020 05:08 PM PDT Hi everyone. I'm not a complete beginner but I fucked up. I had purchased a thermaltake rgb 650w psu after returning my corsair 650w since it was cheaper. I forgot to return the cables so I had those in my case. Dumbass me decided to connect the old psu cables. I only connected the corsair cpu, mobo, and sata. Did not use my GPU. I saw blueish electricity coming inside when I plugged it in. Nothing happened when I tried to turn it on. I switched and used the new psu cables, only to soon realize I shouldn't have mixed psu cables. The only thing that works is the IO USB header since I can see my mouse light up. Everything else is DEAD. I checked the voltage of the cpu cable that goes into the motherboard and I compared one notch with ground, it's at 0.40 volts. I also did a pin test and confirmed the psu fan rgb lights up and the fan starts spinning. I tried shorting the power switch pins and nothing. I checked the voltage on the mobo battery and it seems to be good. Basically, 2 months ago I returned my psu and left my build as a future todo. But 2 months ago it worked fine with the corsair psu. I was able to build it in one hr and get it up and running. Now 2 months later I got a new psu Any advice guys? I cant tell if swapping the cables screwed me over or if there is something I'm missing. [link] [comments] |
