OCW: Unofficial open-source app for MIT OpenCourseWare

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 03:01 AM PST

MIT OCW is a website I used a lot but they don't have a mobile app so to make my life a little easier I built an unofficial app for it to easily find new courses and access their study material on the go.

Please have a look and share your opinions.

Hep fight cancer while you sleep. DreamLab app by Vodafone.

I am using it on my old Galaxy A5. Your phone won't get hot and you can "donate" your phone's computing power to solve calculations needed for cancer research.

Can I switch Google Pay OR Play accounts from inside an app?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 10:57 AM PST

Sorry for no screenshots bc this is all about payment. Ugh.

I'm on a Google Pixel 2. I have three Google accounts-personal, work, and throwaway. I use Google Pay inside my personal account. I have Google survey Rewards attached to the throwaway account.

I wanted to buy in-app-upgrades today and it opened the Payment screen (with Google Pay, Google Play, and credit cards, etc) attached to my personal account. I'd love to use my survey credit attached to the other account.

Can I somehow switch into the throwaway account? There didn't seem to be an option to switch in the payment screen.

Obviously I should switch the survey Rewards to the account I use more often.

    TIA.

Any launcher which supports gesture navigation?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 10:47 PM PST

I'm currently using Microsoft launcher preview and also tried lawnchair v2 but both don't support gesture navigation.

One UI has good navigation control but I'm bored of the UI itself.

Is there any camera app with layer or something similar?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 06:51 AM PST

For example, I want to take new photos based on old photos that I have, and I want them to be exactly in the same position/angle that the old ones..

Is there any camera app that allows me to place the old photo in a layer, transparent in the screen where I am taking the picture, so I position the object/person in the correct position/angle?

Are there any grammar checking app like this?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 06:22 AM PST

I'm not a native English speaker and would love to have a simple but powerful grammar checking app. Are there any app that let me choose paragraphs I wrote and share to that app to receive correction?

I had what I think is a great idea for an app and have no idea how to start building it. Looking for someone on the designer side to hash it out with.

Offline Maps & Navigation no longer on Google Play? Alternatives?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 09:36 AM PST

    Hi-

I get a "Requested URL not found" for https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.navigation.offlinemaps.gps

Does anyone know what happened to this app?

If it's gone forever, I'd like suggestions for a non-subscription alternative that shows both the speed limit and speedometer reading on the screen. AFAICT, Google Maps shows the speed limit but not the current speed.

    Thanks!

Is there an email client that groups messages by sender instead of topic?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 09:27 AM PST

So basically what I'm looking for is an email client that will group emails based on the sender (similar to a messenger) and not just the topic like Gmail does. Does such a client exist? I'd be willing to pay a reasonable one time price for such a client. I think Spike Mail does it if I'm not wrong but it also seems like there might be some privacy concerns with how they handle email. Are there any others?

    BASIC programming language

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 09:14 AM PST

Is there an app out there that can run BASIC?

    I'm talking old school:

    10 cls

    20 print "Hi"

    30 end

I've tried doing some searches but I keep getting results for coding and that's not what I want.

Looking for an App that I can take a photo/scan a grocery store receipt and it will itemize/categorize the items and export the results into an excel format

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 03:34 PM PST

Looking for an App that I can take a photo/scan a grocery store receipt and it will itemize/categorize the items and put the results into an excel format.

I see lots of apps that pay you to scan their receipts but I am looking for an app that will let me know how much money I'm spending on coffee per grocery receipt, for example.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Looking for an app that can track my spending for me

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 06:26 AM PST

Looking for an app that I can connect to my bank account and it will keep track of my spending habits. I use my debit card 99.99% of the time (I never carry cash on me) to buy stuff. So just an app that connects to my bank and can see all my spending, with different categories would be perfect. Anything like this? Thanks!

App to transfer large files from phone to pc

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 11:45 PM PST

Typically to get files off of my phone, I just plug the USB end into my PC and copy. I have a folder full of large images (lots of screenshots mainly) that doesn't want to open through that connection. I also tried copying the folder to my PC. Transferring batches to Google drive is too slow, I've tried Feem, File Manager+ and similar and those are snail's pace too. I'm trying to find something that will let me view the folder, transfer in batches to my PC, and delete off my phone as I go.

Maybe there's some other easy way I'm missing? Or any app recommendations?

    Sharing webpages

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 04:39 AM PST

I'm looking for an app I could save my webpages to. I use many browsers and would like all my favorites or bookmarks saved in a central place. Can this be done or is there an app that does this.
