Posted: 01 Mar 2020 05:57 PM PST ever since the update my phone will shut off instead of just going to sleep after inactivity. this is refurb phone (assurion,(sp?) that i just received about 2 months prior to the update, everything seemed fine before the update and had zero problems, when the phone is actually on it's fine too, no problems, everything behaves as it should, nav'ing between screens is smooth.... for the life of me i can't figure out what is going on here and i don't have the money right now to pay out for another phone that i'm 99.99999% sure was fubar'd by the update. anyone else have this problem? got an idea for a fix? i've looked around and don't see this being a widespread issue...but i do admit i'm not exactly keyed into this scene anymore..kinda fell out of it after the big cupcake update...i do know this crap is making me want to get back into rooting my phone and all of that stuff. beyond that.....aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhaaaaaa!!!! it's so freaking frustrating having to boot my phone up everytime i pull it out of my pocket or let it timeout...worse still is if something happened to my wife and kids i'd likely wouldn't find out until i noticed my phone was turned off... thanks for letting me vent even if i'm screwed to infinity and beyond. have a good one! | [Help] Weird problem with my phone registering my wife's # as an international call. Posted: 01 Mar 2020 04:38 PM PST Samsung galaxy s7 purchased from Verizon. In early February I changed to At&t pre-paid (my Verizon was for my phone only, with At&t pre-paid the bill is literally within a few dollars of the same for both our phones). Ever since I made the switch, my wife's calls come across as being from maylasia. I can answer her when she calls, but in order for me to call her I need to essentially dial the numbers because my phone tries to make an international call to maylasia if I click her contact from recent calls. This I can live with if I have to, but I need my phone to be in working order for my work. Went to At&t yesterday and they got my phone to recognize the incoming call as my wife, but the calling out is still bugged. Just did a factory reset and the problem isn't resolved. | Posted: 01 Mar 2020 05:42 PM PST My mom upgraded her phone, and now she wants all of the images from all of her text messages off of the old phone. I figured that Helium was the best way to do it because the files she wants are stored as sandboxed application data, leaving them accessible only with root or ADB, and because my mom is too stupid to make backups, I'm not willing to risk data loss by attempting to root the phone. I have Helium installed on my laptop as well as her phone, and USB debugging is enabled in the developer options. Helium fires up fine on my laptop and gives me the "Waiting for device" message, as I expect it should. If I plug the phone in to my laptop, I get a notification on the phone telling that USB debugging is connected. If I attempt to open Helium on the phone, it doesn't work. Sometimes, I get the application homescreen with a popup claiming that it is waiting for the desktop application and a cancel button that doesn't work. Sometimes, I get a solid white screen. In either case, the desktop app doesn't see it, the phone slows down and gets hot, and eventually I get a "Helium is not responding" popup. This has persisted across multiple attempts to wipe Helium's data and reinstall it. What are some things that can go wrong and prevent the Helium app from working? Is there another app similar to Helium that I could try? The phone is an LG G2 from T-Mobile (Model LG-D801) on Android 5.0.2 if that helps anything. [link] [comments]  |

| Date and time not updated automatically after Upgrading to LineageOS Posted: 01 Mar 2020 10:09 PM PST Hi, Originally had KitKat 4.4 and then upgraded to LineageOS 16.0-20200223 (updated from 16.0-20200222) on Samsung Galaxy S5 Duo (kltechnduo) along with Google Apps (open_gapps-arm-9.0-pico-20200222). Manually changed Date & time, e.g. Feb 11 and a different time zone. Then set to Automatic Date and Time and Automatic time zone, time zone got updated correctly but date and time did not. Shutting off or Restarting the phone did not help, date was set to Feb 29! not March 2nd and time was reset but not to the correct time. Then installed Samsung Smart Switch app and attempted send/receive data to/from Samsung Galaxy S9 phone using the same app. Although tried several times got "Can't connect message" saying unable to connect to device, a network error has occurred. Using PIN option also failed, restarting and shutting S5 did not help. | Best phone for camera + getting best quality photos off Posted: 01 Mar 2020 09:28 PM PST Hi all Im going overseas on my first holiday with my 1 year old Up to this point my wife and I have been happy taking baby photos on our phones, and using the google low quality storage option to store them, plus a onedrive sync (as i pay for storage on there) However since we are on our first holiday, we want the best photos possible of the time. My wife has a P30 (not pro) so I think her phone will be our main shooter I have a mix of phones OnePlus 5 (personal) Or a Nokia Lumia 1020 (Old personal phone) (Not android i know) My personal opinion is to take the luma as a "camera" for me, and just keep using my phone as a phone, but i have no idea how the quality compares between that and my other phones. Im also looking for the best settings we can set on my / my wifes phones so we can get the highest quality photos I will have a laptop with us so I can do a usb or wifi transfer of photos at the end of each day, so we're not worried about space. Ideally we would want to use the default camera (so we dont have to change shortcuts or get used to a new camera) its more around getting the best photos from the camera, and getting them off the phone in the best way Any ideas would be appreciated thanks in advance [link] [comments]  |
| phone turns on and off, help needed! Posted: 01 Mar 2020 03:30 PM PST So I have had a problem with my phone's battery for some time (around 3 months). First my phone started shutting off when it had 15% left, then 20%, then 30% and a couple of days ago it shut off at 50%. However, today my phone turned itself off at 56% or so. I could turn it on a couple of times, but then it immediately shut off again. And then, it didn't turn on at all. I plugged the charger in, but nothing happens. This lasted for 2-3 hours. Then, I played with the off/on button and menu button, and after a couple of minutes, the screen turned on to the screen lock. It turned on, and I could use the phone normally again, (except for it being very slow, and complaining about not having enough memory - when I had like 1.7Gt empty space). Then after a couple of minutes, it turned off. This whole thing repeats! This is what my phone has been for the past 2 hours. The lock screen turns on, sometimes I can be on my phone for 30 seconds to 3 minutes, and then the screen shuts (?). The time decreased and decreased, and now I the screen doesn't stay on more than 10-20 seconds, I can't even put my password and it shuts down. And now it is even harder to turn the phone on (it's very random, turns on like every 5-7min). Now here's the question. I don't need to fix this phone, it's old, and I'm going to buy new one. | Galaxy S9 Plus deletes photos and videos after update. Posted: 01 Mar 2020 09:27 PM PST After the last major update, I noticed that my Camera roll just disappeared. There wasn't much in there, since I had moved stuff around not long beforehand, so I figured maybe I accidentally deleted it and didn't notice. Well, almost every single day, sometimes within hours, I look and find my Camera folder (and oddly enough my Screenshot folder) will just vanish. Literally nowhere to be found. I also moved some files into a new folder, thinking maybe starting a fresh Camera/Screenshot folder would fix things, and that new folder got deleted too!! Anyone have any idea what the issue could be or some kind of fix? It really got to me after I spent many hours today doing some video filming for a music video for my band, only to get home and find it was literally all gone. My phone never died or restarted or anything. Any help is much appreciated. | How To Automatically Connect Paired Devices On Android 9 Posted: 01 Mar 2020 03:26 PM PST I just upgraded to Android 9 on an LG Escape Plus. On every phone I've had before once a Bluetooth device was Paired it would automatically connect to the phone when I turned it on. It's not doing that with this phone. I have to go into Bluetooth settings and connect every device each time I want to use it. I have looked all over for a setting to fix this, but I can't find it. But when i turn them off, it only vibrates a little and nothing more, i can see the little icon in the status bar area, but i can't seem to find any way to make the push notification pop up on my screen, like basically every app i have. I am bad at explaining, think how you would get a notification in apple's ios. That's how i want it. Raided google and youtube, can't seem to find it anywhere. Samsung galaxy s10, tho i have had this issue on other android phones. I have checked notification settings on app and in settings, sleeping apps battery optimizer thing. | Is there a way to update to a newer version of android on a device that doesn't support it? Posted: 01 Mar 2020 02:56 PM PST I've just updated my phone (Samsung Galaxy S9) and when it took me to the lock screen I see that the spotify widget that usually appears on the locks screen to skip music is very transparent and hard to read. Not sure if there is a way to change the color of the text or not. I was only able to fix the clock fomt and color but I am still having trouble to fix the widget problem. | Help retrieving old files from pixel 3a Posted: 01 Mar 2020 04:46 PM PST My girlfriend recently dropped her phone and completely shattered the screen. The phone still works as you can feel the vibrations. The phone has restarted at this point and cannot be open. Since you can't use the screen to type in the pin, and you can't use the finger print until you first use the pin. Plugging into my laptop only makes the phone appear as other devices and cannot be opened to check the files. I tried to use other methods and they all require usb debugging. I found one method where you can display the phone screen on a tv with a dongle that has hdmi. I tried this on my s9 and it worked. But plugging in the pixel 3a doesn't display anything on the tv. I feel like ive tried everything and her files might be gone for good. Can anyone help me with this? [link] [comments]  |
