| Posted: 27 Feb 2020 04:55 PM PST Hi, I'm new to reddit, so I don't even know whether or not this is how you post a question. So to get to the point... I need a new phone, I come from a PC background, do some dslr photography, so I kind of get the gist of the hardware specs (to a degree). Realizing I still haven't gotten to 'the point; I'm torn between the Mi 9, Mi 9T, and Mi Mix 3 5G. The Mi 9 is great spec-wise, obviously. Not a big fan of the notch design, but I can get over that. My reservations lie in the jelly effect the EIS produces when stabilizing video (and possibly low light shots). The Mi 9T seems like a viable option too, sporting a similar camera setup with a slightly different sensor, but still with the same EIS approach. I'm not a heavy gamer, so the SD 730 shouldn't be a huge problem, BUT... I have read the SD 855 in the other models can help with encoding and processing. Love the design on the Mi 9T too. And last but certainly not least: the Mi Mix 3 5G, with the same specs as the Mi 9, bigger battery, with OIS, a great design, but you sacrifice a wide angle lens in the process, and I'm not quite sure how sturdy the sliding mechanism is. Now I know the choice is obviously mine, but Which would be the best choice? What model sacrifices the least? Any experiences, or insights to help me out with making this choice? I restarted the internet and searched on Google to see if it worked and it did, but YouTube, Twitter, tik tok and Instagram don't work yet everything else including reddit still works. I thought it will be fixed with time but it's almost been a full day and nothing happened. I restarted my device and it also didn't work. I have a Xiaomi note 7. If I play a series/movie, I don't see the video, but I only hear the audio (I can see the subtitles). I tried to change series/movie and I have the exact same problem. I restarted the phone and tried to uninstall and reinstall the app, but nothing. I also cleared the cache. Today I received the update to MIUI Global 11.3.9.0, I think the problem is connected to this, because until yesterday it worked perfectly. I have not changed any type of settings. | How secure is Second Space if your phone is lost/stolen? Posted: 27 Feb 2020 03:40 PM PST I've been using Second Space since I first discovered it on my Redmi Note 4. That old Redmi Note 4 was lost and the content of its Second Space is gone forever. Whoever found it probably just wiped it. Now I am using Second Space on my Mi 9. There's, again, some content pretty important to me but I can live without it. Backups are good. However, I would really like it not broken into if the phone is lost or stolen. Current status of the phone is unlocked bootloader, not rooted, storage encrypted, if it makes any difference. Just how secure is the Second Space? Or, additionally, how secure is the First Space in general? I'd assume Second Space has some extra security around it. [link] [comments]  | ||

My previous Huawei has had security patches released pretty quickly (almost monthly) back from 2017 to 2019 before the whole "national threats" hullabaloo happened. It was noticeably faster than the Xperia I had before that. Currently my Mi 9T Pro is still on October 2019 security patch, which seems concerning. It hasn't been updated since I bought it 1-Jan, when I immediately upgraded to MIUI Global 11.0.1. What is your phone model and security patch level? When I fill out all of my personal info and click "Done", it gives me the message: "Couldn't sync, try again" I've already tried login with Google and Facebook and same error. I use my phone in Portuguese (because I'm Brazilian) and same error. Changed to English, same error. Use a VPN to USA, same error. I'm going to try another device to register the acount and search this sub to see if anyone has had the same problem as I. | Can't update to MIUI 11 at all. Posted: 27 Feb 2020 05:43 PM PST Hi. I have had this problem for months and didn't find a single way to solve it. Currently have a Note 7 with Miui 10.3.6 stable on it. Never ever managed to update. Manually? Forget it. Automatically? It gives me an error (Just error try again later, nothing about verifying and so on). The phone is not unlocked and I didn't do anything weird with it. With or without WiFi makes no difference either. The only weird thing is that in the About it says I have a global ROM but tries downloading the EU one. (Again, phone bought on Amazon from Xiaomi, no weird seller no weird ROMs). Yeah I've tried clearing the cache downloading many ROMs manually and now I don't even care anymore about the update I just want to know what's up because it's driving me insane, and I only find pointless Indian videos online.
