windows10 multi-desktop taskbar Posted: 07 Feb 2020 11:22 AM PST ok so I use multi-desktop HEAVILY and windows10 used to have this fixed and now its a thing again. The laptop has Windows 10 Chinese Version installed (single language pack Only). I need to change it to english. I read that I would have to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro to get English since the Win10 I have is single language. I tried to buy Win10 Pro from Windows store, but when I click "buy" it just takes me to a loading screen that stays loading but never actually loads. Windows Hello facial recognition prompt Posted: 07 Feb 2020 11:11 AM PST I have Windows Hello Face set up on my desktop, and it works great! One annoyance is that if an app uses it, it pops up a dialogue box that stays even after it authenticates. I have to manually click OK. This behavior is different from a fingerprint, where once it authenticates the dialogue box disappears. The ONLY keyboard layout I want to use is ENG US. How do I remove ENG FRCA permanently? The things I've tried are: Adding "Canadian French (Legacy) and then immediately removing it-- doesn't work, it always comes back, sometimes within minutes. OneDrive Sync running on two computers (one account) Posted: 07 Feb 2020 11:56 AM PST Question regarding what happens when two Win10 computers, both using the same Microsoft account, both have OneDrive syncing the User folder (Documents, Pictures, etc...) My current setup is that I am using a notebook, with the user folders moved into onedrive, both for backup and to save SSD space). Like: C:\Users\calapine\OneDrive\Documents Now I am soon buying a Desktop PC. What I am afraid is that if when useing the same setup that onedrive will see an empty Documents folder and try to sync OneDrive, i.e. delete all my documents in the cloud. (That's how it behaves currentyl: if you delete a local copy it deletes the cloud version, too) What I WANT OneDrive to do is keep Notebook, Desktop and Cloud in Sync, so have the same files on all computers. A Folder Has Disappeared From My Computer Posted: 07 Feb 2020 08:50 AM PST Yesterday I created a folder on my secondary drive (D:) and I put there some illustrator and photoshop work, and an older folder. Today, I opened my computer and to my surprise, the folder wasn't there, but the older folder was. (I have an un-activated copy of windows 10 if it has something to do with it). Search Bar is back but right click on Desktop and Nvidia Control Panel aren't working anymore. Posted: 07 Feb 2020 01:12 PM PST No idea if this is related, but the Search Bar is working now for me but I have three new problems instead. ​ I can't access the Nvidia Control Panel anymore. Which is a problem because I wanted to change my G-Sync settings. I see the Control Panel (windows store version) in task manager and can end it there. But restarting doesn't bring up a screen Right Click on the Desktop should bring up a context menu. Instead I get the small rotating circle, indefinitely. Selecting a program or Apps through Apps & Features is incredibly slow. It takes like 20-30 seconds for the uninstall option to appear. (Only found because I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the control panel) ​ Things I tried so far: - Removing Nvidia drivers with DDU and reinstalling them [no effect] - Reinstalling the Nvidia Control Panel [no effect] - Executing sfc /scannow through command prompt [everything was fine] - Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth through PowerShell [everything was fine] submitted by /u/_i_see [link] [comments]

Can’t shut down after Windows 10 install Posted: 07 Feb 2020 04:57 PM PST I replaced a HDD with a Samsung 860 EVO. I did a clean install and reinstalled windows 10 with ISO file and linked it with my Microsoft account. I then installed some of the programs it had previously (Norton, etc.) It boots fine but for some reason will not turn off. These are the things I did to try and fix it: Check boot order. It gives both UEFI and legacy boot sources. For UEFI, it has windows boot manager as the first one. For legacy, it has the hard drive P0 Samsung as the first. Troubleshooted power, updates, etc. Command prompt as admin and did "scannow" (found no integrity violations) and also did a forced shutdown Turned off "fast startup" Unplugged power cable while on, waited 20 minutes, then plugged in and booted (no issues booting again) Reset CMOS by taking out button battery for a few minutes and then turning it on again. This brought my bios settings back to default. Even after all this, it won't shut down. The screen will go black after the "shutting down" but the tower continuously stays on. Only way I can turn it off is by manually holding the power button or by unplugging it. I let it stay like this for a few hours and it still never turned off. I tried it again with the old HDD (still works and wasn't wiped) and it was able to shut down so I think it has to do with the windows I installed on the SSD. What else can I do? I'm out of ideas except wiping the brand new drive and just reinstalling windows again since it only shuts down with the old drive. submitted by /u/ironsheep6211c [link] [comments]

I have 3 monitors, in the layout: 2, 1, 3. I want to be able to show only monitor 3. Using the project menu (Win+Shift+p), the options give me: Column 1 Column 2 "PC screen only" Off On Off "Duplicate" On On On (only 2 of them show the same picture) "Extend" On On On "Second screen only" On Off Off (What I want) Off Off On I thought this may have been related to the display number (in the Display settings). I reordered the cables so that my displays were now showing as 3, 1, 2. But I get the same behaviour! "Second screen only" makes monitor 3 the only screen. I switched my default browser from google chrome to this. I like that it is based off of chromium so I can use my chrome extensions. I also have video controls on my touch bar when watching videos and I can see tabs on my touch bar. Raid array not detected on boot Posted: 07 Feb 2020 01:43 PM PST Hi, wondering if anyone else have this issue where my raid array is not detected when i boot into windows. Only way to get it detected is when I go to device manager or disk management and refresh the devices. I've had to this every time I boot in to windows to get my raid array detected. Sata controller is set to raid in bios and i have downloaded latest chipset and raid drivers from amd's website. Is Sector by Sector Clone ideal for SSD? (Question) Posted: 07 Feb 2020 09:26 AM PST So I just got a 2tb ssd to replace my 1tb hdd. I used EaseUS to clone the 1tb drive to the 2tb and selected "optimize for ssd". I saw the option of "sector by sector" but as I did not know what that meant, I didn't do it. Over night the drive successfully clones and works really nice! But I got curious and did some google-ing, about the "sector by sector". Some sources I found say to select both "optimize for ssd" and "sector by sector" when cloning with EaseUS. Is this better or worse in any way? Did I mess up and should do it again? The drive seems to be working really fast. I just want to make sure that I optimized this SSD the best, and don't lose out on any speed, or somehow ruin the drive.
