Dont forget to clean inside your case folks Posted: 30 Jan 2020 11:49 PM PST I just opened up my case for the first time in a embarrassing amount of time. I opened panels I never knew could be opened. It was...gross. my CPU instantly went from 70c to 45c just by cleaning everything. Posted: 31 Jan 2020 07:00 AM PST Had a heart attack when my PC suddenly turned off earlier tonight. Immediately assumed it was a PSU failure or best case scenario a thermal shutdown (it's hot as fuck in Australia atm). Waited. No dice. Did the PSU paper clip test and the fans came on which was unexpected. Removed the power to the 1070, suddenly the system posts. To be honest I wish it was a PSU failure, this sucks. First PC build in over a decade 2080ti / 3950x Posted: 31 Jan 2020 10:57 AM PST https://i.imgur.com/GOyAAEA.jpg So having built my last PC well over a decade ago, with a sweet Nvidia 9800GT, I fancied moving back to desktops and having another go at a PC build. I've been using an Alienware M15x laptop that finally needed retiring. I decided to go absolutely all out with this build for no other reason than wanting to have an absolute beast, though the reasoning to the wife was that I needed it for my CS degree that I've just started online ha. Used a full EK water cooled system with 3 x 360 rads, and a watercooled 2080ti. The most annoying part was not having a bracket to mount the pump onto the bottom fans/rad and this took over a week to arrive due to a postage error! It's also a bit of a tight squeeze with the graphics card and pump and it wouldn't have fit if I hadn't mounted the card vertically. I also couldn't make my mind up regarding fan configuration so ended up swapping the rads and fans around multiple times until I was happy with airflow in from bottom and back and out the top. Cable management was also fun (note sarcasm) due to the 10 RGB fans. At first I was very confused how to plug these in as my last build didn't have RGB but I then discovered the motherboard headers after reading the manual!! I really enjoyed doing this build and the machine is an absolute beast. Full build photos: https://imgur.com/a/Wj64nxN Specs:

To ReBuild or Not ReBuild, That is my question. Posted: 31 Jan 2020 01:09 PM PST Hey ya'll, I've been thinking about building a new rig, used for streaming and gaming. I'm mainly thinking of using one of Scattervolt's build video for it, price is around US$ 1000. But I was also considering if I should upgrade my first build. The only issue with that is I don't know how to do it or where to start. I Love my current PC but I want to upgrade her. So these are the currents specs of My PC: [PC Hound Part List](https://pchound.com/73PfQV/) Type|Item|Price :----|:----|:---- Motherboard| [ASUS PRIME B350M-A/CSM Prime B350M-A/CSM] Processor| AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Processor ] Memory| [Ballistix 16GB (2 x 8GB) Sport AT] Video Card | [NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 VC-257-301] Power Supply| [EVGA 450W BV Series 100-BV-0450-K1] Storage| [WD 1TB Blue WD10EZEX] Case| [COOLER MASTER MasterBox Lite 3.1 MCW-L3B3-KANN-01] __________________________________________________________________________________ The Build I'm thinking of building: [PCPartPicker Part List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dm2MTC) Type|Item|Price :----|:----|:---- **CPU** | [AMD Ryzen 7 2700 3.2 GHz 8-Core Processor](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/WPQG3C/amd-ryzen-7-2700-32ghz-8-core-processor-yd2700bbafbox) | $149.99 @ Amazon **CPU Cooler** | [Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition 57.3 CFM CPU Cooler](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/hHDJ7P/cooler-master-hyper-212-rgb-black-edition-573-cfm-cpu-cooler-rr-212s-20pc-r1) | $44.99 @ Amazon **Motherboard** | [ASRock B450 Steel Legend ATX AM4 Motherboard](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/wb7v6h/asrock-b450-steel-legend-atx-am4-motherboard-b450-steel-legend) | $109.99 @ Amazon **Memory** | [Team T-Force Delta RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mM8j4D/team-t-force-delta-rgb-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr4-3000-memory-tf4d416g3000hc16cdc01) | $84.99 @ Newegg **Storage** | [Crucial MX500 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fgZFf7/crucial-mx500-500gb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-ct500mx500ssd4) | $64.99 @ Adorama **Video Card** | [PowerColor Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB Red Devil Video Card](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vK4BD3/powercolor-radeon-rx-5700-xt-8-gb-red-devil-video-card-axrx-5700xt-8gbd6-3dheoc) | $439.99 @ Amazon **Case** | [NZXT H510 Alliance ATX Mid Tower Case](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CZzFf7/nzxt-h510-alliance-atx-mid-tower-case-ca-h510b-wa) |- **Power Supply** | [Cougar GX-S 650 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ptrcCJ/cougar-gx-s-650w-80-gold-certified-atx-power-supply-gx-s650) |- | **Total** | **$894.94** Can ya'll help me make a decision? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 04:10 PM PST I recently purchased a 2070S video card from NewEgg. It was on sale for about $470. After a few weeks of use, my games would crash when game play started. I returned the card to NewEgg to determine if it was damaged and causing the game play issues. NewEgg took until the last day of their policy to tell me that the card had been physically damaged and that they would not perform any RMA/warranty/replacement on the card. They informed me that the cooling fans had been broken off and the heat sync had been bent. They sent me pictures of the damage and informed me they would be returning the card. I immediately told them that my card did not have any physical damage when I sent it to them and there must be a mistake. I filed a damage claim with the carrier that the package had been damaged in transit. The carrier stated that I would have to follow up with NewEgg since they were considered the shipper since they paid for the shipping. After following up with NewEgg, they said they would deny the shipping claim and that both the shipping box and manufacturer box were in "perfect condition" when received. They said it was impossible that they had been damaged during shipment since the boxes were perfect. I requested pictures of the boxes but have not received them yet. I received the returned card tonight and it is a mess. It looks like the video card box was kicked around and the video card looks like it was run over with a truck. The actual card and metal are bent in addition to the broken fans and bent heat sync. Has anyone encountered a problem like this with NewEgg or have any advice? Thanks. Can I get some gaming monitor recommendations please - under $1070 Posted: 31 Jan 2020 03:51 PM PST My work is paying for a monitor for my home office. It has to be below $1070 after tax. I'm looking for ultra wide gaming monitors. I already have a rtx 2080 and my current top pick is the AW3420DW. Would anyone have any other good recommendations that I may not be aware of? (Price doesn't matter at all as long as it is under $1070 after tax) [link] [comments]
My new baby and thank you so much! Posted: 31 Jan 2020 08:29 AM PST If you don't want to read the whole thing I would just like you guys to know I'm thankful and would like to say a huge thank you to this community! I was always scared to build my own PC as I always felt like I would screw something up and waste all my money but after I bought my PC that's built for me I thought I might as well use my old PC parts mixed with some new parts to build my girlfriend a gaming PC. When I posted here for the first time with my questions I was quite nervous that everyone was gonna be like how stupid is this guy but could not believe the amount of comments I got with suggestions and advice! I can't be more thankful for it. Even though the specs on my girlfriend's PC is worse than mine and like half the price, there is just something about building your own PC that makes me like my girlfriend's PC way more than my own. I'm not planning to have a kid anytime soon and I think this is the closest I felt to having my own little baby haha. Once again I like to thank this community and if I ever need a new PC I will definitely be building it myself from now on! Is the 3600 worth 40 bucks over a 2600x? Details inside Posted: 31 Jan 2020 02:57 PM PST Heading to micro center tomorrow. I bought a 1600af for 85 on amazon and it just arrived, but I can return it and mobo and buy same mobo and a 2600x for 5 dollars diff. Worth it for sure for 5 bucks with free returns and paid nothing in shipping. The question now is, is the 3600 worth another 40 bucks now it has dropped in price as well. Will be paired with a 1660 super unless I see a deal on a 2070 anytime in the next 2 weeks. But most likely a 1660 super. I play league of legends, wow, battlefront 2 mostly but will probably start playing some cod or maybe other new shooters after it's built since I will have more hd space to install whatever I want instead of deleting games to make room for others. Any and all opinions are welcome Thanks guys [link] [comments]

I'm once again (7 years later) asking for your build support [~£1100/UK] Posted: 31 Jan 2020 11:16 AM PST https://i.imgflip.com/3nsyev.jpg Almost 7 years ago, I bought and built, with /r/buildapc's help, my very first PC. It has sadly died on me (either the MB or the PSU) and now is time for me to join the modern era. With the help of some friends and the incremental builder I've constructed this list:
USE GPU/CPU CPU COOLER RAM MONITOR STORAGE I'm not overly concerned with future proofing this build. Thanks for your help and feedback as always, love this community. [link] [comments]

I'm a life-long apple user and I'm switching to windows to build a dual RTX 2080ti machine... HELP! Posted: 30 Jan 2020 10:47 PM PST Greetings - I'm a life long apple user, and now my work requires me to render photorealistic CGI. To be more specific, the plan is the take advantage of Arnold Renderer's new GPU acceleration, and to do this I intend to SLI two RTX 2080 Ti cards. This is something impossible to do on the Apple platform, so I'm faced with building a PC. My budget is about approximately $3.5 - $4k. Ideally would like to come in a little under - but don't want to cheap out where it counts. That being said: • I've heard that Nvidia SLI isn't supported on AMD motherboards. [EDIT] RESOLVED... it is supported! Thx u/uradonkey003 This task is overwhelming, and I never thought I'd ditch OSX, I'm not about to let my petty preferences get in the way of using the right tool for the job, and it's clear the right tool is a custom build windows machine. SO... I'm open to suggestions on this build, motherbord, PSU, CPU, brand of RTX card, cooling, ram, everything, even just words of caution or encouragement. Respect and karma in advance to everyone kind enough to help out. :) [link] [comments]
Ryzen 3600 + 5700 xt best value / money Posted: 31 Jan 2020 02:45 PM PST Hi guys, can you make some criticisms with arguments for this build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kCW7p8 please? Priority is 1080p 144 hz gaming for multiplayer (apex, remnant). With some single player (witcher, cyberpunk, metro) and coop games and future proof. Most of the questions to the PSU. Someone says that 500 watts - is good, someone - that you need to take 700+ [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Jan 2020 01:05 PM PST Hey r/buildapc. I want to build a PC that's used for gaming. Primarily I play games like CSGO, LoL, r6, PoE and some others that come and go. Currently I own a laptop that is dying so far and cannot run games like r6 at 60 fps. It runs it at like 30 fps and it gets choppy. PoE also takes about a minute or two to load per map which gets annoying. I plan on building something along the lines of this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TDkK27 and was wondering this will work to play most games smoothly. I don't know much about building PC's so any help would be great. Thank you! [link] [comments]

What's the best upgrade for my current PC? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 01:03 PM PST So I'm extremely overdue on a new PC, but my financial situation isn't nearly stable enough for a complete upgrade. Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 3 CPU: Intel Core i5-4440, LGA 1150 socket GPU: ASUS GTX 970 STRIX RAM: 8GB DDR3, 2x4GB Out of these, which would give me the best possible upgrade to get atleast another year out of my PC, if possible? I'm starting to struggle to play new games, such as Modern Warfare and Need for Speed: Heat. Modern Warfare may just be terribly optimized since it randomly crashes to desktop with no error, and stutters constantly. Heat on the other hand I can still almost max it out, although my framerate dips below 60 and it hurts. But anyway, any help with trying to boost the specs of this PC would be a huge help [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Jan 2020 02:29 PM PST I need to decrease the size/weight of my case due to having to move my PC around an awful lot at the moment, would someone be able to recommend the smallest cases that can fit the following in; Corsair H150i (360mm) ATX Motherboard Asus Prime X570 Pro MSI Trio 2080 (327 x 140 x 55.6 mm) Edit: I currently have the Fractal Design R6 just to put into perspective of where i am going from [link] [comments]
Why does everything look so bad Posted: 31 Jan 2020 02:19 PM PST This might be a stupid question but after setting up my pc and doing stuff on it for the first time things just look kinda weird? I use my PS4 on this same tv and that looks fine so it has to be my pc. Any ways to make things not look like they've been deep fried and put into 120p? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 01:57 PM PST I've been looking on Reddit and Youtube for about a month now trying to figure out an all around good first PC to build and wanted to be around 1500 or less. It'll be for some gaming and web browsing mostly. Wanted a home computer and figured why not build one. Went with the X570 because I wanted wifi and bluetooth built in and the 2070 super for looks, reliability and 1440p gaming. Also threw in some RGB stuff because aesthetics. With tax returns filed, figured I would post this here before buying the parts. I live about 2.5hrs away from a micro center(Yonkers store) so i might make the trip down to buy some of the parts as well so save money. Here's the build and please tell me what you think!
