Posted: 01 Jan 2020 09:36 AM PST Since support is ending, it would be nice (ergo, not likely, since it's not profitable) of MS to do a final service pack with consolidated updates till the EOS date, so that way when bussinesses do need to spin up a W7 VM so that they can run critical software that may not be stable on newer systems without spending hours or DAYS of updating, breaking and updating again, not to mention I bet my sorry ass dodging MITM attacks that crackers will no doubt start focusing on. Just one, consolidated ISO file with all the nice encryption checks to download and put on an USB stick, without the nightmarish hassle described above. Anyone heard of any such plan? Because I am sweating bullets thinking about it here. There are some cases where those updates are pretty damn required for something to function properly and obviously one does not want to connect such a system anywhere, right? RIGHT? I have tried reseting and much more, when I go into command prompt and do the "cd \windows\system32\config" method, I get a message that says the system cannot find the path specified. I am stuck at the boot with BSOD and the error is 'critical process died'. I tried almost everything in the advance option . I can't access safe mode, can't fix via system restore, can't fix via cmd , can't uninstall windows update and can't even reset the pc. Any fix? | [Help] Downloaded a font but it shows up as boxes when I want to use it Posted: 01 Jan 2020 04:36 PM PST Hello all. Not sure if this is the proper place to ask, but I need help. I downloaded a free font online, but it came as a WOFF file. I searched online for a file converter, and I got it in the TFF form. I have it installed, and it shows up as it should when I double click it from the control panel. When I go to use it on word and publisher, it shows up as a boxes. I'm not sure whats going wrong here. It's fine when I view it from the installed Control Panel, but no where else. It doesnt work on Word, Publisher, or (third party) Word Pad. I should note that it shows up as an option to use for all these applications. Furthermore I tried several different file converters, restarted my computer, deleted and reinstalled the font. Nothing. It always shows up as boxes and it always seems to work on control panel. Changing the font size doesn't work either. Thanks for all your help! I really like this particular font. | permissions nightmares: i just wanna copy files Posted: 01 Jan 2020 08:09 PM PST so basically i'm attempting to copy the contents of a virtual machine to a physical drive. i've got most of it figured out. i have mounted a .VHD containing a deployed win10 installation to a virtual drive here on win7. i am using robocopy /e /copyall /sl to clone the drive to another partition, but it's giving me access denied errors during the copy process i have changed ownership of the virtual drive and its "subcontainers and objects" (not inherited permissions) to the user account i'm currently using, with the user account i'm currently using. i then gave the current user account "Full control" over the drive and its subcontainers and objects still giving me access denied errors help wat do it's been hours [link] [comments]  | ||

Basically all I want to do is disable the voice that starts talking whenever I click on the ease of access button on the Windows 10 sign-in screen. It goes like: "Make your computer easier to use. Windows will read and scan this list automatically. Press the spacebar to select the highlighted option". I have the ease of access narrator toggle flipped off and ease of access narrator disabled in my windows settings but this voice still talks. I believe that it is not the narrator but just the ease of access voice. Kind of held out on the upgrade scene after jumping onboard early on and not liking it. But a few years have passed and while I jumped ship to Mac my wife is staying with Windows. So I decided to wipe my old Win machine and take another look. Things are much better than before so I played around to get the wife on board. Long story short While not a 100% fan it's all good. So we have an old machine in the bedroom that's hooked up to the TV for the occasional Redbox and for visiting a few of those "movie sites" everyone and then. The TV normally runs a Firestick for all the other stuff. The PC is also running W7. It's an older E-machine EL1333G a coworker porned out and didn't know how to fix it so he gave it to me. I wiped it, reinstalled everything and it runs like a champ. It's fast and does the 2 things we need it to. It's connected to my router via WiFi and all is well. Anyway I figured I would upgrade it to 10 before EOL just to be safe but after the install it's like I gave it a lobotomy. Everything slowed to an absolute crawl. Mouse , Internet, keyboard inputs were sluggish the screen looks like crap it just killed it. I have 2 questions. Since it's just a machine that like I said does 2 things. Is it really that big of a deal that it's not upgraded? If it really is a do or die type of thing any thoughts on why it's just a mess? [link] [comments]  | ||

When i inserted everything to my New Mobo. Windows was installed, but i did get blinken cursor with Blackscreen at the beginning of the boot beefore logo Mobo shows up. I tried format the disc, install windows again. I have the latest bios version i think (F9) 😅 i did go in safe mode. Saw in bios if legacy mode was on but uefi was on instead. Fast boot disabled. It take 3-5 EXTRA sec because if that ugly cursor 😢 and i have OCD so i cant live with that hahaha. I used to have a sshd disck in the last build, but that wasnt for booting. I still used the ssd. Hope i can solve this by help form u awesome. People! Thank you!
