Deleting all files PERMAMENTLY (Can't be recovered)

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 09:19 AM PST

Hello. I plan to sell my Samsung S8 but before I do so, I would like to know how to delete everything so that it can't be recovered through rooting or some other things. I performed the ''factory reset'' 3 times but I heard it doesn't really delete the files. Can I somehow ensure that everything is deleted properly? (Through free software etc?)

    Thank you

    Pin Aura Removal

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 06:35 PM PST

Hello, I have a Google Pixel 4 and I was wondering if there was a way to remove the Aura that occurs after the click of a number on the unlock pin screen, just how you can disable the following line on pattern.

If rooting is required that's fine as well as recommendations for custom ROMs.

    Thanks!

PLEASE HELP! - My Facebook Messenger conversations have out of order for weeks now.

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 09:18 PM PST

For the past few weeks, my Messenger conversations have been totally out of order. New unread messages don't show up at the top anymore, and it's making using the app incredibly annoying. It's only like this on my phone, and it doesn't happen when I use the Messenger Lite app. (I want to use the main app because I like dark mode and I want to use it as my default SMS app.) They're in order on my PC.

I'm using a OnePlus 7 Pro. I've tried downgrading to Android Pie, I've done factory resets, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app countless times... When I first install the app, they're in order, but after a few minutes they go right back to being out of order.

Please help. I've tried so many things. I really like using Messenger as my main messaging app, but this makes it super hard to do so. New messages should arrive at the top of the app. I really don't know why this started happening recently.

Oh, and please save your "Just stop using Facebook lol" comments... I know this is reddit and you all really wanna say that, but I like Messenger, so please try to help me. Thank you.

What are those hidden screenshots on my phone?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 01:10 PM PST

I recently rooted my phone and downloaded an app called diskdigger , i proceeded to "dig" into the memory to see if i would find any deleted photos or something interesting when i found a bunch of screenshots that weren't taken by me. It's important to note that i downloaded this app just after rooting my phone and there was a bunch screenshots, so impossible that i forgot that i had taken these screenshots and deleted them. is this a system service or is there something i should worry about? i would really appreciate any help

Issues installing a root ca certificate on my device.

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 06:13 PM PST

I have a oneplus 6t with the new oxygen os 10.3.0 update. When I updated i lost my previously installed root ca certificate which i used to moniter httpS request through burp suite. I usually followed this guide https://blog.ropnop.com/configuring-burp-suite-with-android-nougat/. But every single time a new issue arises. The last problem i used to have is i cant move the cert to the target directory because an error would come up. And if it did copy it would show up as 0 bytes in size. This issue happened because the partition was not mounted as writable but it definitely was. I solved it by going to advanced wipe in twrp and repairing/resizing the partition. Im having the same issue again now. Ive repair/resized the partition. And twrp acts like it successfully copies it. And it "does" but i cant do anything cause the file is corrupted. It still shows up as 0 bytes. Anybody know a fix?

Android 10 update puts everything on the bottom?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 10:09 PM PST

    See imgur link. https://m.imgur.com/a/5fA680h

I have a Zenfone 5Z and I updated to Android 10. System messages and folders seem to favor the bottom half rather than the middle like in Pie.

Is this a feature or a bug?

OnePlus 6 + Android 10 performance is awful

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 10:08 PM PST

So, after waiting months, I finally got the chance to upgrade to Android 10/Oxygen OS 10.3.0 and... It's awful!

I'm struggling to type this post on my phone because the keyboard has become so laggy. App switching is dreadfully slow, and simple things like swiping away notifications causes a stuttering effect. And the worst thing so far? When I go to unlock my phone using the fingerprint sensor I now have to touch it twice. Once to, I suppose, wake the phone, and then a second time to actually unlock it.

Has anyone else had these, or similar issues?

Android 10 Doesn't Show Actual App Size

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 10:04 PM PST

I have an LG G7 One, and it's running stock Android 10. My problem is that, when you go into app storage it only shows the amount taken up by the app, not the cache. So if the Reddit app is 166 MB, and I have about 200 MB in cache, it sorts it as 166 instead of 366. That means that I have to look through every app I have installed to see how much cache has, instead of having it sort by size like before. I don't know if it's a bug or if this is just the new way of doing it.

Play Store installs/updates stuck at 100%

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 10:02 PM PST

Wondering if others are having this issue. I have a Note 10+ on Android 10. Whenever I try to update or install apps from the Play Store, the install gets stuck at 100% The only way I have gotten it to work is if I turn off Bluetooth, reboot the phone, perform the updates, then turn Bluetooth back on. The problem returns though as soon as I try to install or update apps again. I have tried clearing cache on Play Store, Google Play Services, and Bluetooth App, as well as performing a Network reset. The issue was also happening on Android 9. I have seen a couple of topics on Google support forums but they're either locked or abandoned.

Just got Android 10.0. Is there a way to change the color of the text on the home screen?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 03:05 PM PST

I use a pastel background, and the icon text is all white now. Is there a way to change this so I can read it? Picture for clarity.

    Found unauthorized factory reset android

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 10:02 AM PST

Looking at a phone that had been sitting in the lost and found at a friends event space for a couple months. Once we found a charger and got the phone on it became clear why no one had come to claim it. Someone tried to factory reset but the security settings were triggered also looks like someone tried to pick open the SD card. It's a newish looking Samsung (J4 core or some such) and not sure what to do with it. When I go through the verification thing the number it gives me is no longer in service. Also the phone doesn't have any carrier markings on it.

Is there a way to find the google account so I could email them? Or where to return it to?

Seems like a lot of embodied energy to just end up in a landfill..

Phone screen breathing effect with fullscreen apps

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 06:38 PM PST

    Hello!

I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro. Lately, I've noticed that whenever I have a fullscreen app running, like Netflix or some game, I get from time to time this breathing kind of like effect. The brightness goes up and back down in about a second. I'm actually not sure if it is the brightness that goes up or the contrast that goes down. Anyway, it is a breathing kind of effect. I've searched everywhere and tried looking for that in the setting but found nothing... Could someone help me?

Trouble rooting Galaxy S7 (Secure Check Fail" Recovery)

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 06:33 PM PST

First, here are the details of the phone I'm trying to root:

    SM-G930P

    G930PVPUACSJ3

    Hardware Rev 0.6

    Android Version 8.0

    Here's what I've been doing:

    • Enabled developer mode
    • Enabled OEM Unlock
    • Entered download mode on the phone
    • Used both Odin 3.10.6 and 3.13.1 with the same results
    • Used CF-Auto-Root-heroqltespr-heroqltespr-smg930p.tar.md5 for the root

Odin ends with the error "FAIL! (Auth)" and the phone displays "SECURE CHECK FAIL: Recovery".

Any idea what's happening here? Is the root I'm trying to use not supported with the current firmware on the device?

The only reason I want to root is to disable the Hands Free Activation that keeps popping up (you'd think that wouldn't happen on an unlocked device). If there's another way to do that, I'd love to hear about it.

    NotoColorEmoji.ttf doesn't format correctly

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 05:57 PM PST

So I installed NotoColorEmoji.ttf to my Note 8 (still on Oreo for Substratum compatability) via ThemeGalaxy, but the font is wrong. Emojis work well enough, but spaces are MASSIVE and some characters (ex. numbers) are either white or invisible. Anyone know what can fix this? I tried combining with another front but that stripped the emojis of color.

Power button no longer turns off screen

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 07:37 AM PST

Woke up this morning and my phone (pixel XL) won't turn off. If I double press the dang button I get my camera, so I know the button still works. However, I can't turn my phone screen off/on.

So I got into the boot menu by pressing power+ volume up... and I can scroll around using my power button and my volume keys.... I just cannot choose any options (ie restart or recovery mode).

I restored a backup of my phone from about a week ago before I installed the last update, and it's all good!

    Blocking unwanted callers

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 11:17 AM PST

I have a pixel 3xl and I can't seem to find anything to block spam callers. Really I want something to block anyone who's not in my contacts. No call, nothing just never gets to me. The only option I found was this one. It doesn't seem to help. I also checked the spam filters in the phone app as well. Is there a good way to do this or does anyone know a better way to block all calls except from contact list? I receive two a day at least.

I dropped my phone and it won't turn on

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 08:04 AM PST

Slightly misleading title but I got bumped and dropped my Galaxy s6 Edge on the floor and it wouldn't turn in when I tried it. I plugged it in and it said I had the battery percentage I had when I dropped it and would turn on but as soon as I unplugged it it instantly went black and would not turn on. Everything looks fine on the outside and I had a case on. Is there anything I can do before I get home to fix it? If not, is there anything I can do to fix it once I get home?

    The Red Block Virus?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 09:05 AM PST

So recently, I've been having this issue with my android device where it auto installs 3 apps every time I connect to the internet:

    Shortcuts

An app with a link symbol surrounded by a green circle.

    Movies & TV

An app with a pair of 3D glasses for like theaters and whatnot

    Red Block

Some kind of terrible platformer/jumping game (similar to Sonic Jump and such)

Long story short, no matter how many times I uninstall all of these, they just keep auto-installing and not even from the Google Play store itself. I've scanned my device with multiple antivirus/antimalware apps and get nothing. So not sure what to do to make this stop, cause its really pissing me of that they automatically open up and try to run while I'm in the middle of doing other stuff.

Anyone know what these are? Is this a virus? Is this malware? Is this Google Play Store being cancerous? Like... I dunno. I don't have very many apps installed on my phone, in fact, besides Minecraft/Stardew Valley, Play Store, Play Games, and Google Chrome Canary, there isn't anything else installed except the pre-installed bloatware (which is all disabled).

Alarm Apps no longer draw over apps to the foreground after S10+ Android 10 Update

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 01:51 AM PST

The title, basically. My sister's phone is identical to mine in terms of make, model, OS version and build level (we upgraded on the same plan at the same time) and her alarm apps work just fine when they go off. It makes no difference which app I try; Alarm Clock Xtreme, Alarmy, Gentle Alarm, etc - none of them appear in the foreground when the alarms go off. Furthermore, the alarm apps aren't located in the 'draw over other apps' for me to give them permission manually. Yesterday, I went as far as to wipe my phone and rebuild from scratch, and it made zero difference.

Any advice at this point would be greatly appreciated - thank you.

Does rooting overwrite deleted files? Recovering deleted SMS/MMS

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 03:31 PM PST

I'm trying to recover a text that I deleted today. It contained a picture. To my surprise, I was unable to find extensive discussion on people's experiences recovering deleted data from Android phones.

MobiKin Doctor recovery software seems worth a shot, but in order to recover deleted SMS, the phone must be rooted. My understanding is that user-deleted content remains on the storage medium until the system needs the space. I have about 400 MB of space available on my phone. Is the rooting process likely to overwrite the deleted SMS?
