Xiaomi (Yi) requiring install of untrusted iOS app Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:24 PM PST I was trying to use my Yi 4k Action Camera and was unable to get the app from the Apple App store to connect to the camera. After some digging it turns out Yi is requiring a newer version of their mobile app to connect to iOS devices running iOS 13. What I don't understand is the app they require you to use is not vetted by Apple App Store's security team, but an untrusted app. Anyone else find this bizarre? Xiaomi browser censorship in Europe Posted: 30 Dec 2019 05:54 PM PST I live in the EU and recently, some websites (read: porn sites) have been blocked. After a few seconds/clicks, a new page loads and this message appears : 根据国家法律法规，本页面禁止访问! Which means that according to the country's laws, you can't access the website. Where I live, porn is 100% legal. So it can't be my country's laws. Anyone had this happen? I've tried a few sites but everytime I get the same result. It seems to be very recent. Airpod sound really quiet on redmi note 8 Posted: 30 Dec 2019 07:51 PM PST Ik this is a common problem but I'm lost. Tried disabling absolute volume, nothing. Can't find any other solution online. Redmi note 7 notifications Posted: 30 Dec 2019 06:34 PM PST Hi, I just bought a rn7 in China and took it home to Europe. After installing all the google stuff on it and updating to miui to 11.x. I noticed that I have notification problems. First of all gmail doesnt show notification att all. Auto-sync is enabled. Nptifications is on. I get the notification if the app is loaded in the ram but when its cleared. I dont get notifications until the app is started again. Battery saver is off. I've put autostarted and some other things to try to make the app give notifications but I think its overkill to do it to every one. It can transfer files to the PC but when copying files from the PC to the phone the green bar doesn't even show up. Is anyone else having problems with gmail notifications lately? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 01:42 PM PST I suffered the stupid gboard update that left people unable to unlock their phones but now gboard works excellently. But gmail notifications have simply stopped working. It also looks like the app is simply not syncing and I have to swipe down inside the gmail app to force a sync event. Redmi Note 4X Problem, new phone instead? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 12:29 PM PST I've been using a Redmi Note 4X Global for about two years, last week it suddenly lost signal and now it won't detect any phone signal, but I can use Wifi. My SIM card works in other phones and no other SIM I have works on the Note 4X, not even after restoring to factory settings. Phone had a couple drops months ago, but nothing close to the date it stopped working. From what I gather, it's an antenna problem, which seems really weird as the problem appeared suddenly, I made a call and was using mobile data just a couple hours before the problem appeared. I entered the Phone Settings and messed around the Preferred Network Type option, and sometimes after changing the type and turning the Antenna on and off I could get signal for a couple seconds, other than that I'm always at -1 dBm. This happens sometimes when a notification comes in and the only way I've been able to fix it is to reboot but hate doing that because my phone seems to have some issues with the SD card each time I reboot. Posted: 30 Dec 2019 01:31 PM PST Clearing cache doesn't do anything nor rebooting, but when I go to manage apps > google play store and "uninstall updates", it's no longer in dark mode and works, shortly after (like 30 mins) I'll notice it's back to dark mode but still works, after a while it stops working again.
