Can't believe how affordable these phones are

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 12:59 PM PST

So a month ago my Samsung s8 plus finally died on me. I immediately needed a phone for work and reluctantly bought a mi 9t off a local classified ad. The dude collected phones so I got a "never used" mint one for $350 cad (around $240 US). I say reluctantly because you never know if it's gonna be a cheap Chinese phone because of the price but considering how cheap it was I got it.

Goddamn I say son. Goddamn. Watching the mandolorian on this phone is amazing. Im constantly changing wallpapers and themes because everything looks so cool. Camera is awesome. Of course we will see how well this phone does with screen burn in a couple months ( I use my phone at full brightness and screen burned both my Samsungs in a few months). Also a little bit buggy here and there but nothing too bad.

I'm just really excited about phones now cuz I can afford to check out the next cool thing.

I asked my nephews and his friends if he's ever heard of Xiaomi and none of them have. They all have iPhone 7 and dinosaur phones because they cant afford the next best thing. I feel like going door to door in my neighborhood to show people the light.

Also knock on wood that this phone doesn't go to shit in 2 months.

Mi9 Lite vs the Asus Zenfone 5Z

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 08:26 PM PST

Here I am again comparing another 2 phones.. Just found about the 5Z and it has a SD845 which caught me off guard.. Here the pricing for 5Z is about 2500 and Mi9Lite is 2200.. I know there's a ton of differences but a flagship for that cheap kinda gets me. I need your opinions

Beside i have not find any information about this only just a few websites that give the feature of the phone but checking the Xiaomi official website the only models they have are 32/3, 64/4, 128/4.

Is the mi 8 still a good phone at this point ?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 01:51 PM PST

    Hi guys,

I've found a mi 8 phone discounted for 180 euros now, and I'm wondering if it's a good deal to buy it over the mi 9t at this point! As I'm a non-gamer, I believe both would perform similarly, so mainly I'm looking for a solid phone in terms of durability, looks and updates on the long term (2-3 years). My budget is no more than 230euros! Any other suggestions within this price tag is appreciated !!

    Mi 9t pro on TMobile

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 05:25 PM PST

I have a Mi Mix 2 that I've been using on Verizon, but I've been thinking it's time for an upgrade and had my eye on the Mi 9t pro. I will be switching to TMobile soon and am wondering if anyone had any experience with the Mi 9t pro on TMobile. Mainly I'm concerned about the lack of band 12, which it seems the mi 9 had...

Left earbud won't pair with the right earbud, I've already done a factory reset and it still won't pair with the right earbud. I don't think this is a problem that a factory reset can fix.

Can't get my Mi 9T Pro out of a boot loop

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 12:20 PM PST

When I flashed my Mi 9T Pro with TWRP, I wanted to wipe my phone and I mistakenly wiped my system, and now I'm in a bootloop. Here are the things i tried:

    • Re-flashing TWRP, I just get a "FAILED (remote: Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Load Error)"
    • Flashing the official ROM with MiFlash and MiFlashPro, I get a "error: Missmatching image and device error"
    • Booting into Xiaomi's default recovery, but that just takes me to Fastboot again. I suspect it went with the rest of the system.

Does anyone have another solution? I'd try pretty much anything at this point.

EDIT: I solved this problem by following the steps in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_osMF9EubhI

You basically remove the device check from the script that MiFlash uses to install the ROM. But be careful to not install the wrong ROM, a China ROM on a global phone for example, as it could brick your device.

My review of Redmi Note 8 after 2 weeks of using it.

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 04:03 AM PST

This phone is absolutely amazing! It's very fast and smooth. No lag. 64 gb of memory and 4 gb of ram. I knew that back cameras are going to do they job, but I didn't expect for the front camera to be that good!! It record videos in a really good quality. And all of tht for less than $180

    Help me choose a phone

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 12:42 PM PST

I'm looking to buy a new phone and have two options here

    Redmi Note 8 4/64 $183 Realme 5 Pro 4/128 $206

Price difference is ~$20, I like the features of both phones (realme's specs bit better) so in the end it comes down to camera performance for me idk which one is better in this category also I don't care about custom roms that much.

[Help]; Note 8 Pro, Mi 9 SE or Mi 9 Lite

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 01:25 PM PST

Hello everyone I am looking for a new smartphone and I was going for the Mi 9T Pro but now think it would be a waste of +/- 100€ because I could get something that would suit my need for that amount less. So now I'm looking in the sub 250-275€ range and I run into those phones. What I love in the 9 SE is the design, how small it is and the fingerprint sensor, the performance is also appropriate, and the great screen, in the 9 lite I see some of the same features but at a bigger (and cheaper looking imo) body but at a smaller price, the note 8 pro has the superior performance but a big body without the OLED screen but at a cheaper sub 200€ price and a huge battery aswell as the 9 lite. From people that have used any of these what do you think I should go for?

Looking forward to get Mi Note 10

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 01:17 PM PST

Probably this weekend or the next week. And It'll be the Pro version. I know it doesn't have the most powerful Snapdragon inside it but it's advertise as more camera focus phone rather than having the fastest chipset available. I still play games on my phone but they don't require that much power to play and I do like to have an awesome camera to my phone because I'm looking forward to traveling more this coming 2020. My current phone is Mi A2 Lite.

Anyone have this phone already? Any comments about it? Thank you.

LTE reception in Alberta, Canada without bands 12 and 17

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 01:06 PM PST

Curious if there are any folks from Alberta on here who can give their experience using any of the various Xiaomi models that don't have bands 12 and 17. Looking at getting the Note 8 Pro, but want to have a better idea what my experience will be like, knowing that a number of the providers use bands 12 or 17.
