Why do USB-C cables suddenly stop carrying their full current? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 06:09 PM PST So, I have about a dozen third-party USB-A to USB-C cables from the same batch. They're spread around three or four different chargers, all of which are good for 2.1 or 2.3 A. Every so often, one of the cables will start charging much more slowly than usual, at which point I replace it with another one from the same batch. I've never had one not charge at all or have a poor connection or loose fitting, they just suddenly stop carrying their full current. Doesn't matter which charger they're plugged into including my PC. My question is: what exactly is breaking inside these cables that is causing this behavior? Is there a resistor or something in them that tells the charger whether or not the cable can carry the full two amps? [link] [comments] |
Woke up this morning to something strange. Posted: 29 Dec 2019 12:05 PM PST I have not updated recently or change any settings and my phone has never done this before, however I did turn my phone off for the night. Woke up turned my phone on and there was this hideous bright white blur or "film" over my lock screen. Anybody know how or why its there and how to get rid of it? Have tried restarting and changing wallpaper. I hope this isn't a actual feature, why would anyone want their phone to look like there's plastic or white paper wrap around their phone. At least its just the lock screen that's ruined... Sorry for the slight ramble just very frustrated and thanks in advanced for anyone that has some knowledge on it. Update: it just turned off after picking up my phone to check a reddit notification. Not on my lock screen or my notification bar anymore. So were good. Although i still have absolutely no idea why or how it turned on nor why it just turned off. would still like to know more about and if it's possible to turn on and off. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2019 05:12 PM PST Any suggestions on changes that can help make a Samsung A10 as user friendly as possible for a very elderly user? So far current thoughts are: Activate simple mode Uninstall as many superfluous apps as possible Pin key contacts to the home page Make sure not to enable any passwords etc Set up the emergency contact system Any other ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. How to temporarily disable an app entirely or its notifications? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 05:49 PM PST Hello! Is there any way of natively disable an app + it's notifications temporarily? Preferably without 3th party app like Greenify. I do online sales as a side job and people from work won't stop bugging me at night via WhatsApp and Messenger. I'm on Android Pie. Thanks! XR & 11 HD lcd displays look better than my Samsung HD Amoled display. Why ? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 03:35 PM PST On the iphones i can barely notice the pixels. On my Samsung A20 (OLED) and Moto G7 Power (LCD) i can. Noticed this in Bestbuy. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Dec 2019 07:00 PM PST Idk how many hours I spent looking so far. I'm just need 4 features. Be able to set a wallpaper from the phone's files. Be able to crop it like I want to. Be able to disable wallpaper scrolling. Be able to set a lockscreen image different from a homescreen one. Any suggestions? edit: "image 2 wallpaper" seems to work. [link] [comments] |
Incognito closing automatically? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 06:44 PM PST Hello there! As the title suggests, for some reason my device has started closing my Chrome incognito tabs without me ever instructing it to. I disabled the "close all incognito" option on my drop down menu so, I'm not unintentionally hitting anything. It's been going fine the last few weeks but now for the past two days, after just an hour or so, it will close all my incognito tabs if I'm not using Chrome. I don't end the session, I just press the home button. If anyone knows how to solve this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it! [link] [comments] |
Limiting or sorting the apps that are in "Share Via..." menu Posted: 29 Dec 2019 05:39 PM PST I really like the idea behind the "Share Via" but I hate having what looks like two dozen options (and sharing "direct", "Feed", "stories" from instagram... I really don't need one option let alone 3 for one app) ... and the recommended contacts are almost never relevant... Is there a way to limit the apps that appear? Or at least put my most relevant ones at the top? also is there a way to turn off the recommended contacts? I have a LG V30+ running android 9. [link] [comments] |
True wireless earbuds disconnecting constantly Posted: 29 Dec 2019 09:18 PM PST I have a Galaxy S9+. It works great with two pairs of normal over the ears bluetooth headphones, TaoTronics TT-BH22 and Kinivo BTH240. It also works great with OontZ Angle 3 speakers. However, I've been having terrible luck with "true wireless" earbuds. They work fine if I am sitting motionless, but I got these for jogging and going to the gym. When I'm active, particularly when I'm outside, and even more so when it's raining, they will stutter like crazy, apparently dropping the signal. Both TOZO T10 and SoundPEATS have this issue. How do you solve this? [link] [comments] |
Google links (in Chrome) sometimes won't load until after app restart. Posted: 29 Dec 2019 09:12 PM PST I have a Note 8 on Android 8.0.0 and sometimes when I'm using Chrome, Google links will just not load; they just sit there with a stuck progress bar. It will stay like this indefinitely. However, if I close the app completely, reopen it, and search again, it will load instantly. This happens on data and wifi at no matter the quality of connection. Also, say I search "why is Android like this?" and the search hangs, after I restart the app and type "why is...", the full thing I just searched will be in the previous search results. Pixel charging screen brightness Posted: 29 Dec 2019 05:17 PM PST Is there a way to turn down the brightness of the charging screen at night? In my pitch black room at night the brightness of the text (charging wirelessly), battery percentage and clock is just too much. Is there a way to turn it down or to turn it off between certain hours? Using a Pixel 4 in case it's phone specific [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2019 08:57 PM PST What I mean is when I move music I download or pictures I take to the SD card, then the order of which I view them changes. Instead of pictures appearing chronologically in the gallery, they are are different and pictures from like a month ago appear at the top instead of in chronological order. Sorry if this sounds dumb but i'm not savvy in this area. [link] [comments] |
Best Android car mount where you can turn the phone horizontal? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 08:53 PM PST So many I found are only vertical or junk. I have a Kia Soul and would prefer to mount it on the dash. The only horizontal ones I could find locally were at 5 Below and those were trash. [link] [comments] |
Is it safe to use banking apps on custom ROMs? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 08:47 PM PST I recently flashed Pixel Experience and my sister pointed out that now I don't have the safety of Xiaomi and on custom ROMs it is easier for scammers to get money from banking accounts. I know it sounds like she works for Xiaomi but she got me worried. [link] [comments] |
My Samsung Galaxy J6 doesn't recognise my external mic even though it has a TRRS output Posted: 29 Dec 2019 09:27 AM PST A lot of video guides solve this by converting to TRRS output. Mine has already got that output but still isn't recognised by any software. This is the mic: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077Z992XS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Hopefully I can get it working. [link] [comments] |
Weird .txt files appearing in Downloads folder. Posted: 29 Dec 2019 02:26 PM PST I have an LG Stylo 2, and I opened my Downloads folder today to find 3 odd files named "crash_log_1.txt", "crash_log_2.txt", and "crash_log_3.txt" in the Downloads folder. I deleted them, but then I checked the folder an hour later to find they had reappeared. I don't know what app could be causing crash logs to appear, as none of my apps have crashed recently. I recently installed Twitter, and the files appeared only after I installed that, if it helps. I don't want to open them, as they seem very suspicious, so I wanted to ask if anyone knows what this could be, as searching for it hasn't yielded many results. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Dec 2019 08:08 PM PST Long story short my boss got rid of a tablet he said doesn't work. He's just too dumb to charge it. He gave it to me now I'm trying to find some way to wipe it. The tablet will not perform a factory reset due to the administrator account on the device. Here is where I'm at so far. The tablet it'self is a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 1: Factory reset will show MDM does not allow 2: Cannot access settings due to administrator settings 3: Do not know the admin password so I can't change admin settings So my question to y'all is how to I bypass this shit and get my free tablet working? Can I switch to the US firmware for the my Canadian Note9?? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 07:51 PM PST I know it's a little far fetched thought but I was wondering if there is a way to switch to the US firmware for my Canadian Note9.....to get access to beta and stuff and have future updates faster since in canada even the unlocked phones get updates quite later. Version history of Google Play apps? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 07:43 PM PST Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knows a way to see the version history of apps on the play store. I noticed that iOS has this feature, but I haven't found anything like this on the play store. Or is there another site that stores version history? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2019 07:18 PM PST I moved all my images and videos to my SD card and that freed my phone's storage a ton, it went from 500 and under mb all the time to almost 2 gb. But overnight that went to 700mb and then over the course of the next few days it went to 355 and below. I can't seem to find the root of the problem. Can anyone help? (16GB lg) [link] [comments] |

Play Store and Google Services still compatible on Android 6? Posted: 29 Dec 2019 02:19 PM PST I have a friend who has a Nexus 5 (don't ask) and she's getting an error when the Store tries to open (or randomly) pop up saying there was an issue with services or store... I've already tried clearing app cache (not data though) and rebooting to no avail. I'm unable to find anything about Android 6's compatibility with the Play store or Services or whatever other apps are needed for apps to be installed etc... so she's stuck with what she has. Can someone tell me if they're compatible, or where to find that, or how to find out? Also any suggestions for a fix; I'm afraid I'll have to clear all cache and data or do a factory reset.
