[Dev] EasyJoin "Essential" and "Go" available in XDA labs Posted: 08 Dec 2019 07:10 AM PST Hi, a quick update on my apps. I am currently looking for alternative stores from Google to publish versions of the application that are free and without advertising. So I decided to publish the Essential and Go versions to XDA labs. You can download them at https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/net.easyjoin and https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/net.easyjoin.go. If the alternative stores prove to be up to the task, I will consider removing the free versions from the Google store. I'm sorry that it's not possible to publish also on F-Droid. I hope they will open a section for free non-open source applications (fnoss). [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to hide apps on the google play store? Posted: 08 Dec 2019 07:48 AM PST I'm having an issue where the google play store is recommending me apps that I've already tried and either determined that I didn't like the app or the app didn't work properly. I was wondering if there was a way to hide the apps so I can get more recommendations for apps I have tried yet. Also if there is, is it permanent and does it only affect one device? What are three great apps that you only recently discovered? Posted: 07 Dec 2019 01:06 PM PST They don't have to be new, they should just be apps that you only recently discovered. I'll start: Notify Blocker: Powerful notification manager. I use it to hide any ongoing notifications I don't want to see. Refind: Each day at user-specified time, this app picks the 10 most relevant links - according to your chosen interests - from around the web. Podcast Republic: I only recently started listening to podcasts, and have tried all of the popular podcast players available plus a few others, but this is my favorite one. Highly customizable. Now you..! Linkme: Notification Blocker & Cleaner & Screen Lock, Refind, Podcast Republic Edit: added links [link] [comments] |

Framerate issues in YouTube App. Posted: 08 Dec 2019 09:57 AM PST Hello com, I noticed that my phone starts stuttering like crazy when I'm in the Youtube app. I did not find anyone facing the same issue on Google search, so I started to troubleshoot it myself. First of all, I have a Huawei P20 Pro, which is more than capable of displaying 60fps. It also worked fine when I first got the phone. However i dont know when exactly this issue came up. It seems like my phone does not play videos in 60fps properly anymore when in landscape mode. All the other window animations etc are in smooth 60fps. I tested PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends, COD Mobile which are demanding enough. They all work fine in smooth 60fps, even when in landscape mode. Videos work fine in 60fps when in portrait mode, doesn't matter if they're recorded myself and played in the native gallery app or streamed in the Youtube app. Issue comes up as soon as i switch to landscape mode, both in gallery app and Youtube, it's not even close to even 30fps anymore. Feel free to AMA if it's contributing to a possible fix. Anyone facing the same issue? Any fix? [link] [comments] |

Any firewall app for a rooted device? Posted: 08 Dec 2019 02:40 AM PST I've been using NetGuard for a while, but I soon realized that it's not possible to use NetGuard and a VPN app simultaneously. So, I'm looking for a firewall app that won't have conflicts with VPN apps. My device is rooted. Thank you. [link] [comments] |

Switched from Business Calendar to Calengoo Posted: 08 Dec 2019 09:33 AM PST I started using Business Calendar in 2011, because G Calendar wasn't handling time zones very well. Besides the control over colors, I got addicted to integration of tasks and calendar, using B Calendar's own tasks app. I also really like B Calendar's templates, which enable fast creation of frequently used calendar items. Google tasks has recently improved (now that they've apparently given up on Keep, which was a terrible way to manage tasks) and I faced the dilemma that B Calendar's tasks are not synced with Google tasks. I have now switched to Calengoo. Calengoo syncs both calendar and tasks with google and lets you see your tasks integrated in your calendar. It has even more control over colors and such. It supports templates, although overall I find B Calendar's implementation superior because templates require several clicks to access. On the other hand, the ability to create folders of templates is intriguing. About a week after I switched, I am pretty happy with the switch. While there are features I miss, especially fast access to templates and seeing tasks in my calendar at their reminder time, rather than segregated either first or last during the day, the advantage of having tasks mirrored on the PC and integrated into calendar is enough. The extra ability to personalize -- Calengoo has more options -- is a pleasant time-waste that I like even if it is probably not a good use of my time. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:53 AM PST Hi all, I currently use Google Podcasts which is sufficient, however, I wish you could queue downloaded episodes... I'll download something for the drive home. It'll finish and I'll be stuck as I'm still driving so can't start looking for the next one. Does anyone know of a podcast player that'll let you do that? TIA [link] [comments] |

Help - Anyone know a good call out app? Posted: 07 Dec 2019 04:04 PM PST I am a member of a search and rescue team, and get callout texts with keywords in it. My phone is often on silent, and even when it isn't I often don't hear the text alert (or it doesn't wake me up). Does anyone know an app which looks for keywords in text messages and then alarms at full volume and buzz (even when on silent) until stopped? This is somewhat urgent; the old one has died and is no longer supported [link] [comments] |

Phone addiction - Looking for a sort of child safety lock for myself Posted: 08 Dec 2019 02:06 AM PST I use my phone way too much for Netflix, Games, Youtube and Porn and I really need to stop it but I don't have enough self control. So I was thinking of installing an App that only allowed me to use certain apps and visit certain websites. It should also either block me from using the PlayStore or block me from installing games or other time wasting stuff from the play store. It would also be nice if there was a password allowing to bypass these blocks that my flat mates would know in case a useful app got blocked. Doesn't need to be free I'd happily pay for that. Apps I want to continue to use are stuff like Microsoft Office, Messengers, Google Maps,Gmail, Splitwise, Public Transport Apps, couchsurfing. Otherwise I would switch to a dumb phone but that would make many things considerable harder. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Dec 2019 05:31 AM PST Anyone know of an app that you can install to help you find your phone. I mean over a fairly short range... I'm always putting it down somewhere then getting frustrated because I can't see it for looking. I'd love an app where I could just shout 'find my phone' or similar and if it could hear me it would ring so I could find it. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |

TIL I do not *NEED* a podcast app on my phone- There is one built in! Posted: 08 Dec 2019 06:59 AM PST Some pics to show you what I mean- https://imgur.com/WLDOi6I, https://imgur.com/PWU60TR, https://imgur.com/tXNMAsd Just know that I do not have Google Podcasts installed on my phone- it is essentially "built-in" to our phones/Google app. If you go to Google app, search, let's say "First Take podcast" the podcast will popup and if you click it, it will take you directly to Google Podcasts even if you do not have the app installed. You can actually even DL podcasts in the app to save them for offline listening in the app. Just thought I'd share this since I just found it out. [link] [comments] |
