Posted: 10 Dec 2019 04:43 PM PST Hi everyone. I've been using Zedge for sound effects, notification effects, wallpapers, ringtones...etc. However, it has ads and I'm pretty sure it spies on me. Are there any good alternatives that have no ads? [link] [comments] |
How can I completely remove the work profile from my phone? Posted: 10 Dec 2019 10:52 AM PST I have a Samsung galaxy s9, running Android 9. I somehow created a work profile, but then disabled it. I still see it when I go to my list of apps, and the work apps in it are grayed out. How can I remove it completely? [link] [comments] |
Toasts are showing for a long time in all apps Posted: 10 Dec 2019 02:54 PM PST Hi, I have a pixel 3a XL on Android 10. For the past week or so toasts have been showing for about a minute each and I don't know why. I am an android developer so it's in developer mode, and I do tinker with advanced settings from that menu and the command line from time to time, but nothing springs to mind that would affect toasts. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Questionable phone from eBay need advice Posted: 10 Dec 2019 08:29 PM PST So I received a phone we bought off eBay a Galaxy s8 active and when I tried to update the software to Android 9 which has been released for AT&T already for several months now I believe and it says that I have the latest update and it is only Android 8.0. then I boot it up in recovery mode and it gave me a crash in Chinese kanji. Even though the error is in Chinese kanji, the menu appears in English. It should be in English as it is supposed to be from the US carrier. Would you advise against using this, or is it safe? If it is safe how would one go about finding the file to sideload Android 9 for the Galaxy s8 active from the SD card? [link] [comments] |

Transfering files and data from crahing S7 Edge to S10+ Posted: 10 Dec 2019 03:28 PM PST Hello r/AndroidQuestions, I need your help! Recently my Galaxy S7 Edge started randomly crashing before attempting to restart, failing, and ending up with a black screen and a solid blue light. It no longer responded to any buttons and the only way to get it working again was to wait till it ran out of power and could be powered on again, until it eventually crashed again. No fixes online solved the issue (Force restarts, Clearing cache, etc.), so I eventually decided to just upgrade to a new phone as I had been looking to upgrade for a while and eventually settled on an S10+. Problem is, I want to transfer my photos, music, contacts, etc, to my new phone, however, smart switch and manually transfering files is near impossible with its constant freezing and crashing. So my question is, is there a way to get my files moved without fully powering up the phone, or to do it quickly, such as a method in the boot menu? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Dash autoremoves space before it Posted: 10 Dec 2019 03:49 PM PST Got a sony xperia with android. Using "-" automatically removes the space before it so the previous word connects with the dash on some of the native apps like the thing for taking notes. (blabla - yes becomes blabla- yes) Also writing stuff like 258 - 365 - 974 automatically underlines it and put it in blue which is super annoying. Any way to remove that? [link] [comments] |
Alarm icon won't go away from notification bar Posted: 10 Dec 2019 01:21 PM PST I recently flashed pixel experience onto my redmi note 7 and a few weeks earlier the alarm icon showed up and it won't go away. The set time always keeps on updating. I have booted into safe mode and the icon goes away then. Any idea what apps are causing this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Dec 2019 02:13 PM PST I've tried both from Playstore and from an APK. All the troubleshooting solution from the play store dont work. Posted: 10 Dec 2019 06:42 PM PST Carrier: PureTalk USA (Uses ATT towers) Phone: Le Eco 2 Current Updated version: 5.8.021S (back in 2017, no new updates) I've been having issues sending images/photos through texting. I have tried resetting the network in the past and has worked, but temporarily. I don't want to have to reset it and put the information in every time I want to send a photo to someone. Do I need to get a new phone or is this a carrier issue? Cause I don't know. [link] [comments] |
Question to iPhone users who switched to Android Posted: 10 Dec 2019 01:35 PM PST Simply put - how has the transition been? I've been a heavy Apple user for YEARS. I'm fairly heavily into the eco system (AirPods Pro, iPhone 11 Max, Macbook Pro, iPad, AppleTV, Apple Watch) but i've really just found myself feeling bored with iOS. While the OS is starting to make me bored, there are certain things I absolutely love. iMessage is one of them, but now I see that Google is pushing out RCS, which is great. I use AirDrop A LOT between devices, but I also noticed that Google has something called Fast Share in the works? I like the fact that things work together with Apple well (for the most part), between my devices, but i've honestly found myself caring about that stuff less and less. Siri fucking sucks, let's be honest, and I find myself using my home mini more than siri on my phone these days because of that. The only android phone i'd be looking at next year is a pixel. I like how clean it is, and that it comes direct from the OS developer. Really, the only thing that makes me iffy atm is the fact I use my apple watch heavily to track workouts, ECG's etc. I know other products can do similar things (minus ECG), but again, I prefer things straight from the developers etc. So, what i'm trying to say is, hopefully a pixel watch is on the horizon, and with that improvements to wear os. If that happens, I think im 90% of the way there to making the switch. Would be great to here from anyone, really, with your thoughts, and especially those who were maybe in a similar boat and made the jump to android. [link] [comments] |
Everytime I disconnect from a WiFi, I have to reboot the phone to make it connect to 4G Posted: 10 Dec 2019 02:30 AM PST Hello all, I have this issue where every single time the phone disconnects from a WiFi, it doesn't automatically lock to the local 4G network (or 3G for that matter). I can still make and receive calls and send SMS but I have no internet: on the display I can see the bars but not the "4G" indication. However, if I reboot the phone all comes back to normality and I have internet connectivity over 4G as intended, until it finds a WiFi network to connect, and I have to reboot it again and so on. What could be a possible cause? SPECS: Nokia 3.1, Android 9, carrier is Iliad (Italy). THINGS I ALREADY TRIED: make my carrier send the configs again, try to set them up manually, change SIM slot. [EDIT] OTHER THINGS I TRIED: Airplane mode on/off, Data off/on. [link] [comments] |

All my Google search widgets stopped being clickable and usable Posted: 10 Dec 2019 11:54 AM PST I have Android 9 (sec patch Oct 1 2019) and a Coolpad Legacy phone. None of Chrome's or Google's search bar widgets are clickable or usable anymore. They all used to work whether I tried Chrome, Chrome Beta, Google Go, or whatever is the default search widget. Is this happening to anyone else or just me? Can't find anything online about it. I used to use the default search widget but began using Chrome Beta's search widget bc that's all I use anymore as my search engine, which works just fine. All searches in the search apps work just fine. It truly is a pain to have to open the Chrome Beta or whatever app to run a search. I tried clearing cache, etc. It doesn't seem to be related to anything specific I can find on the internet. Is this a Google or Chrome thing or Android thing? Why can't I even click it to type in it any more? I can click the widget to resize it or move it or remove it. But since the apps work fine it seems weird all the search bar widgets stopped working at all at the same time sometime in November. [link] [comments] |
Dial pad not opening during phonecalls (Android 7.1.1, Nexus 6) Posted: 10 Dec 2019 12:34 PM PST Edit: The issue was the recent phone app update. I uninstalled updates by going to Settings > Apps > Phone > 3 dots > Uninstall updates. This fixed the issue. For some reason, the dial pad has stopped showing up during calls. For example if I call somewhere and the answering service says "Press 1 for English," I can't get the dial pad to show up to press 1. The dial pad button shows up and it can be toggled, but the dial pad doesn't actually show up when toggled on. It was working earlier today, I don't know what could have changed since then... Any ideas? This is on a Nexus 6 using Android 7.1.1 [link] [comments] |
Type-C connection issues across cables and devices Posted: 10 Dec 2019 06:29 PM PST So I recently switched from a LG Stylo 4 to a Bold N1 because my type c port was going out. I would have to hold the cable at an angle for it to charge. Now I'm having the exact same problem on my new phone and I've only had it for a month. I've used several different cables and the problem persists. What can cause this and how can I fix it? [link] [comments] |
Question about using my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 for both work and personal use Posted: 10 Dec 2019 12:30 PM PST Hello AQ! I have a question... I seem to remember seeing somewhere about being able to set up your phone so that you have a work profile and a personal profile that you can switch back and forth on... basically being able to then use your personal phone for work, while having the work account completely siloed from the personal account, so that your data and privacy remains yours and they can't just brick your phone if they feel like it. Did I imagine this? I tried googling a bit to find some info on it, but all I am finding is advice to put all your personal stuff in the SecureFolder, which doesn't seem to match the extent of what I remember, and also seems like it would be a pain in the butt. Is there such a thing as profile switching? Thank you for any info, and thank you for just being *you*! :) [link] [comments] |
Wi-Fi constantly disconnecting Posted: 10 Dec 2019 10:08 AM PST I have an A70 that was working perfectly fine for a few months, until recently the wifi connection will completely for about a minute at a time, as often as every few minutes. Its 100% not a problem with the internet itself and is something wrong with my phone, as every other device I have works fine. I didn't go changing any settings, AFAIK this just started happening one day. [link] [comments] |
Is there a pixel like dialer for any Android phone? Posted: 10 Dec 2019 05:32 PM PST Is there a dialer that is like the one on the pixel phones? I don't have a rooted phone and I don't plan on rooting anyway so I would like any knowledge on what you have seen. I have a Samsung Galaxy Fold if that makes any kind of difference. Posted: 10 Dec 2019 05:27 AM PST All of my friends and family use iPhone. Every once in a while I will miss group chats, and videos I send or receive turn into potatoes. I know this is common bc of how iMessage works. If I start using RCS, will this fix those issues? Or not because the benefits are only RCS <--> RCS, not RCS <--> iMessage? Side question: Is RCS in general worth ditching Textra for? [link] [comments] |
Half of my screen stopped functioning Posted: 10 Dec 2019 11:18 AM PST I have an LG G5 that I'd like to hold onto for a while longer. Last night I was using the phone to browse through reddit (shocker) and the right half of the screen stopped scrolling. Confused, I swapped apps and it stayed stuck on half of a reddit feed. I rebooted the phone. From boot the right half of the screen is static and fully functional. My question is this a screen problem or a GPU problem? I don't know enough about the internals of phones to make that call and am hoping someone from the hive mind may have seen this before. The problem being active from boot implies it is not software. Unrelated to the problem I've purchased a battery for the phone, it has not been installed. I'm willing to purchase a screen, but if the problem is GPU related then I'm not going to sink any more money into this phone and will begin the struggle of finding a decent replacement. Posted: 10 Dec 2019 09:02 AM PST I recently upgraded the 256gb SD card to a 512gb card on my Nintendo Switch. I didn't want the 256gb card lying around my house unused so I decided upgrade my phones 32gb card to the 256gb card. So I now have over 200gb free to use with my phone. My main question is that is their a way to download apps from the play store directly onto the SD card? Cause right now my phones internal 32gb is critically low and a few apps that I want to play needs at least a few gigs to run properly but idk what to remove to clear out memory space. Bundle notifications in Android 9 user settings?? Posted: 10 Dec 2019 08:47 AM PST I am involved in 6+ Twitter group chats and 4+ active Discord servers. I've muted the chats/channels I don't care to see, but I still get a lot of notifications. Is there a native way to collapse or bundle all notifications from a single app in Android 9? So all my Twitter notifications would show up as one icon in the toolbar, instead of one per chat. Or is there a third-party app that can do this, and won't throw 50,000 unrelated notifications at me? Thanks. [Android 9 on a Samsung Galaxy Note 8, fully up to date AFAICT] [link] [comments] |
Outlook email notifications when NO INTERNET!!! Posted: 10 Dec 2019 08:21 AM PST Samsung Note 4 - Happens when I disconnect from wifi at work. Even in airplane mode I'll continue to get pushes of old emails (1 or 2 at a time) from previously in the day. Happens for like 5 or 10 minutes as I'm walking out the building... [link] [comments] |
