Posted: 30 Nov 2019 09:01 AM PST I keep getting a window appearing in my PC screen nearly every single day asking me to update my Yahoo, Bing or something like that and I don't even use them. When I open the task manager to see what the program is called, I see different names every time. Yesterday it was called Florida.exe. when I open the file location it takes me to the AppData > Roaming folder. And when I close it (in the task manager because I'm afraid to click on the window and possibly get a virus) it delete it's self. I don't use Bing or Yahoo. I literally don't have them in my PC and this window keep showing up. Any help? [link] [comments]
Windows 10 Laptop battery questions Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:41 PM PST I bought a new third party battery for my Asus N76VB-4046TH laptop (from 2013) 2 days ago after the old battery died, but after using it in the past couple of days, I've noticed that it goes from 100% to 0% very quickly. The new third party battery is a 4400 mAh battery, while the original that came with the laptop was a 5200 mAh battery. I'm obviously not expecting it to last as long as the original battery on a single charge, especially since the new battery was cheap and there's quite a big difference in capacity, but it still drains way too quickly. After doing my research, and finding some commands for PowerShell, I came across this command: powercfg /batteryreport. It exported an html file that showed an extensive report of the status and usage of the battery. In the pic it says that cycle count is 488. I have a couple of questions:
I also did a clean install of Windows 10, and the only thing I have installed is the new Microsoft Edge browser. I've been running it since the new battery arrived in power saving mode, brightness around 25%, keyboard light turned off, Bluetooth turned off and location turned off. I've been practically using it as a Chromebook. **EDIT:**I forgot this picture. [link] [comments]
C, v, h, backspace key bugged. Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:50 PM PST So i'm having this problem where the c, v, h and backspace key doesn't do anything. I've tried pressing pretty much every button. 10minutes before that I had another problem where most keys just were commands. I solved that with pressing the windows key but it didn't work this time [link] [comments]
Authentication failed - problems with the Internet Posted: 30 Nov 2019 03:11 PM PST Hi! So I'm in a student dorm and I can't connect my laptop to the Internet with a cable. This used to work before, it just suddenly stopped and now I can't get it to connect. To get some things out of the way: First of all, a pop-up window (Windows Security Sign in) will periodically, well, pop up, asking me to enter my user name and password. I do that, and it simply disappears (which, btw, is utter bull in itself, because the reaction seems to be exactly the same whether I type in correct information or I mess up - way to let the user know if they're using correct credentials). Apart from changing the cable, I've already tried a gazillion fixes - changing the IP and DNS server addresses to Google's (or something), disabling fast startup, updating drivers, disabling firewalls, disabling my antivirus, disabling Internet Protocol version 6 - nothing seems to work. What am I to do? [link] [comments]
Bluetooth completely impossible to turn back on on Windows 10 version 1909 Posted: 30 Nov 2019 03:10 PM PST Was browsing and suddenly my wireless speakers disconnected and this was due to the bluetooth just disappearing. I've checked device manager, it was hidden but nothing I could do other than just view the properties, scan hardware changes or the usual in the drop down of all the devices that have ever been connected to the machine (https://imgur.com/a/Q7Fc8BS) and unsure which one to uninstall to force the machine to install it upon restarting. I've tried all the methods listed here and no luck. I'm at my wits' end. This has happened to me about 7-8 months ago and cannot remember how I resolved this. There are no unspecified unknown usb devices found on the machine either. Does anyone know how to fix this? [link] [comments]

Free upgrade or not windows 10 ? Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:55 PM PST I have several office computers that are currently running windows 7 pro that were OEM machines that were purchased from dell roughly 5 years ago. Are these machines entitled to free windows 10 upgrades ? if so how? I'm looking into this since windows 7 is ending support soon. [link] [comments]
Huge ping spikes when joining a server on Rust. Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:36 PM PST I'll load the server list and it'll say I have 40-60ms for the server I'm connecting to (I've tried reloading the servers multiple times) but as soon as I actually spawn in-game, my ping will shoot up to anywhere between 200-11,000. I've already contacted my ISP about this issue but I wanted to know if anyone else has any ideas on what's causing it. Already tried the go-to troubleshooting methods like restarting my modem and changing wireless channels. FYI I'm on 2.4GHz Wifi. UPDATE These ping spikes are only happening on the 2.4GHz band, 5G is working just fine, no ping issues in-game. [link] [comments]
Is there a way to launch Clipboard History (Win+V keyboard shortcut) through CLI? Posted: 30 Nov 2019 12:58 PM PST Is there a way to open the Windows 10 Clipboard History through the command line? E.g., I also didn't find anything in All I'm trying to do is make a shortcut for it. Any help is appreciated. Undoing Changes Made To Your Computer Loop! Posted: 30 Nov 2019 12:53 PM PST My mom's computer is on a black screen that reads, "Undoing changes made to your computer." that has the loading circle of dots. Tried multiple hard resets to hopefully put the computer into safe mode, but it just keeps throwing the Undoing changes screen when powered back on. Can someone here help me so I can help her get her computer working? I don't know much about all this stuff, but she thinks I do and the amount of texts I'm getting is ridiculous. Why so many extra folders when installing Game Pass game on external hard drive Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:09 PM PST First of all, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question but since there is no dedicated subreddit for Game Pass questions I guess this will have to do for now. Anyway, I used Game Pass for PC to install the outer worlds on my external hard drive and it created a whole bunch of folders like a a distribution folder and a program files folder in addition to the normal Windowsapps folder that is always created when you install a uwp app. My question is, why are all these extra folders created? I thought it was only supposed to be the Windows apps folder that gets created and all the other files and folders are placed inside of it so why did this happen in this instance? Any software for advanced audio management Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:07 PM PST I want to be able to set mono/sterio sound depending on which audio unit. I had to disable my right laptop speaker. So I need to go into settings and change back and forth from mono to sterio when im using earphones. It's pretty annoying. I wish there was a quick switch somewhere but there is not. Any tips? I've been going crazy over this sound problem. Posted: 30 Nov 2019 06:03 PM PST This has been happening for a few months and it's driving me insane. My application's sound fluctuates, as seen in the first picture, and it goes to random intervals even if I set all of them back to 100. Also, my volumes fluctuate in real time as well, as seen in the video, this 100-86 thing happens also in vlc media player and windows media player. https://imgur.com/a/CsAA8Mn https://youtu.be/5e9rLIFDue0 I have tried: Uninstalling VLC media player Uninstalling any virtual audio devices I have I haven't tried updating any drivers, but it does this on multiple different outputs so it's probably not this PLEASE HELP [link] [comments]
Question with Windows installation Posted: 30 Nov 2019 06:03 PM PST Hi everyone! I've just installed Windows in my new SSD from a USB with the windows media creation tool and as I wanted to conserve my key I chose the not put the key option while it was installing and everything worked out well! The thing is that I want to use this USB to format and install Windows on a friend's laptop and the question is: If I choose again to not enter the key, will her original key work automatically as it happened to me? Does the USB store the key? So she has to create her media creation tool USB or mine will work fine? I'm sorry if it's hard to understand I am a mess explaining and English is not my native language. If there is any information you need to know just ask. [link] [comments]
Are old versions of Windows (98SE and prior) still feasible? Are they PRIVATE? Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:49 PM PST I have an old(ish) laptop that barely runs Windows 7 and I don't want to upgrade the RAM or anything anymore. I use the laptop for typing books, filling out spreadsheets, browsing the web, and little else. There're a couple Steam games I can play on it, but I have a sick gaming desktop for that, so who cares? (I guess it'd be nice to play a thing or two on the go, but whatever...) I have an old Windows 95 CD and a Windows 98SE CD. Could I feasibly install either of these and do all of these things without any significant hiccups? Somewhat-importantly, could I use either of these operating systems somewhat-safely in the sense that my personal data could remain private and secure (depending of course on things like whatever browser I used)? Posted: 29 Nov 2019 11:40 PM PST I'm going bananas over this, and it's the simplest thing ever. You know the snip & sketch tool, activated by WIN + shift + s? There is a ruler in there, and EVERYONE on the internet is telling me that I'm supposed to be able to rotate it with the mouse scroll wheel. That would be great, except everyone is lying to me. It doesn't work. All it does is scroll the image up or down, or nothing at all. It's one great conspiracy to drive me mad, I know it. I know you're all in on it, don't deny it. No, turning on or off the "touch mode" or whatever it's called doesn't help. Yes, my scroll wheel does work. [link] [comments]
Is there any way to set my wallpaper to change with the time of day? Posted: 30 Nov 2019 12:51 PM PST My friend shared a cool project she shot of a lake near our hometown, with a photo every two hours through the day. I want to display it as my wallpaper, so all I need to do is have it cycle every 2 hours...seems simple enough, but through the control panel there is no option for a 2 hour slideshow. Any ideas how I could make this work? [link] [comments]
How can Windows run on ARM devices? [Noob Warning] Posted: 30 Nov 2019 04:02 AM PST Hi. Noob warning - sorry about this. How can Windows run on ARM devices (such as in the Surface device)? Windows was built from the ground up on the X86 architecture, was it not? So what did Microsoft do to make it run on ARM? (Please don't tell me that my friend is right and it's all in VM - there's no way this is the case!). Thanks so much!!! [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Nov 2019 09:10 AM PST It got so slow for no reason, can't do anything, it takes 5 seconds before it shows the boot screen and after the boot screen nothing hapeneds. I have Windows 8.1 and 3 GB RAM. Update: It finally showed something, I'm on the login screen right now and its saying "Welcome". It still doesn't show the colours I chose during the install (I chose the blue color) Update 2: I should stop making the updates cause it's useable but very slow. Still looking for answers on how to fix. [link] [comments]
