$30 REWARD to help me use Tasker to read People Magazine by voice for a quadriplegic Posted: 29 Nov 2019 01:58 PM PST Hi all - I am trying to setup a 17" Galaxy tablet so my quadriplegic aunt can open and read People Magazine by voice. It would mean SO much to her! She has missed reading People tremendously since her accident. Plus it would help her feel like she can do mroe. I've learned that Tasker plus AutoVoice and AutoInput is the best way to accomplish this. So I downloaded those but am totally overwhelmed about what to do next. I think she'd read People Magazine via a Kindle App although we could use other e-reader apps if they are better. If someone can walk me through this and maybe even get on the phone with me tomorrow (Saturday) or the next day (Sunday) to figure it out, I'd Venmo/Paypal you $30. Thank you, everyone! Any way to change the microphone that an app uses? Posted: 29 Nov 2019 12:45 PM PST I own a Oneplus 6T and have for over a year. Still, Snapchat defaults to the wrong mic and every video I take ends up with shitty, muffled audio. Is there any way to change it so that the app uses the other microphone? Video using the camera app or even a gcam port is fine, it's just snapchat. I know there isn't a setting for it just in the app or settings, but is there a way to edit the actual app data to make it use the right mic? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2019 03:57 PM PST So I just bought an older generation (8) fire tablet today and managed to install google play by downloading and installing .apk files for Account Manager, Frameworks, and Google Play services. The first problem, after I signed into my account during the device set up process, I tried to sync my account in google chrome. However, on the sign-in page it says, "This account already exists for this device." I then can't proceed to logging into the account with my associated g-mail address. My second issue is with the notifications for google services. When I open chrome, I keep getting notifications to update Google play services "Google play services won't run unless you update Google Play services." However, when I try and go to settings>Apps>Google Play Services, there isn't an option to update, I also don't have an option to uninstall updates, probably because I downloaded this through an apk file Can anyone help with these two issues? Posted: 29 Nov 2019 06:03 PM PST Specifically, a gaming controller with conductive rubber tips. There are only 4 contacts maximum, (including 2 thumbs,) and usually 1 or two contacts regularly. However, the conductive rubber loses connection quite frequently, making the use of the controller moot. Sometimes it works great, other times it's an unusable mess. I used an app to detect touch and track the inputs and noticed if I drag 2 or more fingers, it loses connection during the path. And while holding a trigger down, (the rubber pad,) and drag a finger, the rubber pad drags with it. And when alternating two triggers, a line gets drawn between the two input areas (4" or so.) Why does this happen, and can it be remedied? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Nov 2019 04:58 PM PST I got a Galaxy S7 secondhand that was on T-Mobile and unlocked it with the remote unlock app so I could use it on AT&T with my SIM card. It works but I keep seeing the T-Mobile boot screen still and the ringtone as well. Can this be changed to AT&T or do I need to root the phone to do so? [link] [comments] |
Cloud storage mounted as local drive Posted: 29 Nov 2019 04:52 PM PST I have all of my plex media on google drive and want to use a 2019 Nvidia Shield as a plex server. Is there a way to mount my google drive as a local folder so I can choose that as my plex folder? [link] [comments] |

Control "TV" android device from my phone. Posted: 29 Nov 2019 02:09 PM PST So, my friend has a projector in her living room and it has a tiny box running android connected to it. so she watches YouTube and web/app based tv shows like netflix etc. All well and good, but seeing her struggle with that damn cheap wireless mouse and that small flappy mouse mat on a couch makes me dizzy. Let alone me having to use that setup... So i thought, why not use a phone to control it. Now, i have used TeamViewer for different tasks in the past but IIRC you have to input codes etc every time or something like it which would be inconvenient. Is there other/better options? Best would be to open app and straight control stuff. PS: Can't test Teamviewer etc right now but i want to have a few options available for when i visit her. [link] [comments] |
How do I cancel photo uploads to an email? Android G5+ Posted: 29 Nov 2019 07:17 PM PST as stated, I have an Android g5+. Recently the university email that I was using got reset and I no longer can use it as they only offer the email for a certain period of time, this wouldn't be a problem except the email I registered under for my G5+ was that university email and I didn't change where my pictures were being saved to after the university email got reset. This has resulted in the G5+ trying to upload pictures to that email for an entire day without actually being able to upload them. Naturally my temporary solution is to disable photos so that the uploading attempts stop but it's still annoying and I'm concerned the battery drain will increase because the phone is trying to upload these pictures the entire time it is enabled. I did try to change my email to a gmail one so that I wouldn't run into this problem again but when I try to sign onto my account, it only allows me the option of signing into the university email, not to switch to another email. The options are then "forgot email?" and cancelling out of the whole thing. This might be where the problem is coming from alternatively. All this being said, how do I cancel photo uploads to an email and stop this predicament? I'd like to have access to my photos again without having to deal with this constant uploading. Posted: 29 Nov 2019 06:55 PM PST My Samsung A20 won't make or receive calls. It displays the contact as if it's ringing but remains silent until it disconnects the call. My phone has already been restarted, had the sim card removed and put back, and has been factory reset but it still won't work. What do I do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2019 06:55 PM PST Does anybody know this "removed app" that uses up data in data usage on my phone, i know it might just be that i uninstalled some apps that i have used data on, but looking at last month which used up 2 gb of data, i wouldn't uninstall apps if i used that much data on it. Has anyone had this issue and anyone know why, should i be worried or is it just uninstalled app data usage, thank you. [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth call audio quality muffled Posted: 29 Nov 2019 09:47 AM PST This issue hasn't come up before until today. I'm using a oneplus 7t pro on stock android 10. When i'm on a phone call ( Whatsapp or google Duo) using airpods pro, the sound quality of the other person sounds really muffled and distant now and my voice doesn't sound good to them. When I switch to speaker mode they sound crystal clear and theres no issue. Also when the call has ended, and I play a video or music on the airpods, it sounds completely fine. I've turned the phone on and off, and forgot the airpods and reconnected. I've also reset the airpods themselves, but this hasn't resolved the issue. Because music and videos sound perfectly fine as usual, I'm assuming the airpods aren't broken, and this must be an issue with the bluetooth and call system. How do I fix this as it's quite annoying when it was working fine the day before? [link] [comments] |
Google Assistant corner activation Posted: 29 Nov 2019 08:26 AM PST Hello. Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the bottom corner hot spots that activate Google Assistant? I can't find anything on this. Anyway, I find that I am accidentally bringing up Assistant rather frequently because of those. Would like to disable the feature. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2019 05:44 PM PST When I open an App (every single one) it shows that "App keeps stopping". I already cleared cache and restarted it. It's a Samsung Galaxy S7. I hope there is another solution for it than clearing data because of some important app data that I dont wanna lose. Suggestions are appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Are "Alexa Built-in" Android phones restricted/limited? Posted: 29 Nov 2019 04:15 PM PST There are "Alexa Built-in" phones. My question is can I install a custom launcher that uses Google Assistant/can the default assistant be edited in the system settings like typical Android phones? Or are these Amazon versions more locked down in regards to software usage? This is specifically about a Sony Xperia 1 with Alexa hands free if it matters. I have a Google home ecosystem already so I want to stick with Google Assistant on the phone. Thanks for any insight! [link] [comments] |
SOHO/Family MDM-like recommendations Posted: 29 Nov 2019 03:43 PM PST I'm looking for an app/software package/MDM? that I can use to help family with their phones. All too often, I'm somehow the one that gets stuck in charge of answering/configuring every crazy question/what did my phone do/etc. In particular, a certain family member is getting a Moto G7 Power, and, for reasons, I would REALLY like something that I can use to monitor app changes (updates, installs, removals), web history (I don't really care about the contents, but he comes up with some tall tales and having that handy could at least correlate or disprove what hes trying to describe), positional data (something that can detect drops or throws..), and remote control. All of this is going to be discussed with him upon getting the phone (in fact, hes for a lot of this already), so I'm not concerned about how visible it is. Given all that I am looking for, I think a MDM is what I'm looking for, but everything I can find seems to be geared towards enterprise usage. Is there anything more geared towards the family tech guy? I would rather free/selfhosted solutions, but at this point, I am not against paying a small monthly fee. So far, I've reviewed SOTI's website and airwatch, and know flyve is a thing, but haven't really gotten anywhere with testing any of it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Nov 2019 03:38 PM PST Hope this made sense; I downloaded nes simulator and have downloaded several roms /apk files. I know these can be dangerous and I dont use this phone for anything important but it is still quite a nuisance to say the least. I've just been chilling with my games for a while no trouble at all but now out of nowhere I'm getting ads popping up in my home screen, status bar and constantly appearing on top of any app or file I have on the screen. I deleted the nes simulator and all roms and did a factory /data reset, but immediately after restart this popup still keeps appearing. It's a blank window notification with the text "someone has your number" obviously hoping you to click it. Also getting sent to a loading screen in chrome with a popup saying this android has a virus, proceed with caution, etc. HELP! Does anyone know what this is or know what I can do to get rid of it? Does anyone have any suggestions for a more reliable or reputable source for safe roms to fulfill my nostalgia addiction? Tldr: my roms got me malware that remain after factory reset. ???
