Good 14inch ips screen for Lenovo S340 Posted: 01 Oct 2019 02:28 PM PDT Bit of an unusual question. I got my new S340 today and it unfortunately sports a TN panel (knew this before but price was too good). I know there are IPS panels for this model out there but i would like to use something more color accurate. Are some of the thinkpad displays a viable alternative? Or are they too thick? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Have laptop specs / prices really not impoved much in the last 5 years? Posted: 01 Oct 2019 02:27 PM PDT Hi r/laptop community. I last bought a laptop in 2013. It still works but I want something lighter. Before I started searching, I really assumed it'd be easy to find something with better specs than my 2013 laptop in a smaller form factor. It's been 6 years, right? But weirdly, I'm noticing that specs haven't gotten much better, if at all. For comparison: my 2013 laptop - 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 900p pro-glare screen, 3rd gen i5 M processor, <$700CDN. Lots of laptops out there now at that price point have 768p screens(!), 500GB HDDs, and 4GB RAM. There are even new laptops being sold with 3rd or 4th gen core processors. The very best deal I've found so far, with a modern processor, 1080p screen, 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD, is just under $600CDN refurbished, and that's an outlier. Almost anything costs MORE than I paid in 2013. Is some price-fixing happening? What's the cause behind the lack of improvement in value in the last half-decade? [link] [comments]
Startup problem with lenovo L340 gaming laptop Posted: 01 Oct 2019 02:15 PM PDT So, i bought this laptop (i5 9300H , GTX1050 3GB , 8 RAM , 2TB HDD) a month ago , installed a clean windows 10 on it , updated everything , then after a couple of weeks , the startup is becoming extremely slow like it takes 4-6 minutes just on startup and 1-2minutes after typing my password so i can do or open anything , and i noticed that when i open the task manager it shows 100% proc for some secs , what could be the issue , anyone help ? Hi! I'm looking for a laptop around $300-500 with an optical drive Posted: 01 Oct 2019 12:07 PM PDT Total budget and country of purchase: $500, in the USA Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I'd like at least 6 hours of battery life
Not important at all Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Under 16" Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Some photo editing and CD burning. The rest is basic stuff like Google Docs and YouTube. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A *Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? It needs an optical drive and reliable build quality Any suggestions are appreciated! I don't know much about technology so I have a hard time understanding the specifications myself :) [link] [comments]

Do I need 8GB or 16GB for new laptop? Posted: 01 Oct 2019 10:27 AM PDT Hey! Don't know if this is the right subreddit for it but thought I'd give it a shot. I'm looking to purchase a new laptop for work and personal use - I'm an artist so this will include Photoshop and things like Squarespace I've had my eye on the Microsoft Surface Book 2 as it works as a tablet and is detachable, however I haven't found any real consensus on whether I need 8GB or 16GB. My main concern is the price difference between these too (only want to spend around 1k) If anyone can give any advice, has used this laptop or has any other similar models in mind I'd be thankful! Laptop broke, need help backing it up... Posted: 01 Oct 2019 09:37 AM PDT Hello! I have a laptop with a 250gb ssd built in and recently I was walking around campus and my backpack strap broke and my backpack fell off my shoulder with my laptop in it. Its a swiss backpack that was made for a laptop and was not overstuffed. The laptop is a lenovo y520. The hinge got all messed up and I am hearing a noise I did not hear before. When I got the laptop I erased partitions and did a fresh install of windows and it has been running beautifully. My major in school is IT, so I need my laptop. I contacted the insurance company and they said they are sending me a box to ship out to them so they can fix it. They said to back it up though. What is the best method of copying my internal hard drive to my external, so I basically have the same computer before I sent it out. I basically want to back my whole computer up to the ssd and put all my information back onto the new/fixed computer when I get it back. What do you guys recommend doing? [link] [comments]

New laptop keeps lagging. Disk 100% Posted: 01 Oct 2019 07:29 AM PDT Hi, guys. I'm new here and I need help. I just bought a new laptop. Asus FX553VD :
-VGA NVidia Geforce Nvidia GTX1050 2GB -Bluetooth | Usb 2.0 |usb 3.0
Judging from the specs I expected my laptop will do just fine. But instead that thing is really slow to do A simple task such as opening an app or even pressing a button. At this point I'm really disappointed because it cost me almost 1000usd. I really appreciate any help. Also, sorry for my bad english. I'm not a native speaker [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:16 AM PDT So, after a few days of thinking, I decided that I will go for Strix G as my new laptop. But, before that, I have a question. How well does the hinge work? Is it sturdy enough for a period of 3 years? [link] [comments] |
