[DEV] Our first game, Pixel Pirate is out now on Android! :D

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 09:44 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

Pixel Pirate was created by my friend and I at Seawolf Studios. With no prior experience in game development, we spent a year learning everything we could, with multiple failed prototypes.

We decided it was time to make our first game for release, and 3 months later we released Pixel Pirate to the Google Play store and on iOS! :D It's a free to play game.

    You can play here:

    GOOGLE PLAY LINK
    APP STORE LINK

We hope you enjoy the game,

please feel free to message me if you have any questions!

    Liam :)

    [DEV] Physiology Calculator

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 09:33 AM PDT

Hey I'm the developer of the app: Physiology Calculator! I'm a bioogist with a hobby in coding ad decided to pull the two disciplines together! The result is this Physiology app, in which you can calculate different forms of physiological properties like: stroke volume of the heart, cardiac output, mean arterial pressure, membrane potential, and much more! + Some added graphical goodies!

It is a paid app but if any of you are interested I can make a discount or even send you a promo code! I'm mainly writing here to get some great feedback and thoughts!

Here is the link to the app: Physiology Calculator

PS. I'm only been coding for approximately 1.5-2 months now, so be gentle with me. ;)

Business related app - assign daily tasks to employees

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 08:47 AM PDT

I'm looking for an easy to use app that is preferably cross platform between IOS/Android

I work in a private community, and there are maybe 15 employees where I work. I'm looking for an app that can have a list of tasks that have to be done for each shift every day. So each employee could create their own account and every day they work they would have to check off that they did something.

For example they would have a task to say they checked the board for any updated memos, or that they checked the events list for things happening this week, etc.

I'm looking to a way to have accountability that people are doing their daily tasks, having things written on paper and passing on information from person to person isn't working too well.

Does anyone know of a free or cheap app that could accomplish this?

    Acceptable level of "analytics"?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 09:45 PM PDT

I saw this post yesterday on ClassyShark3xodus and how it analyzes the other apps on your phone and tells you how many trackers each app installs on your phone.

It got me wondering what do you consider an acceptable level of tracking & analytics and why?

E.g., is it okay if it's only used for crashes and anonymous usage statistics? Does it become okay if you can opt out? Or Do you simply hold a zero-tolerance policy?

    Google Fit BMR Accuracy

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 04:40 AM PDT

I've been using Google Fit for such a long time and I never really paid much attention to the calories numbers. Lately, I have been taking a closer look to may TDEE and in my opinion Google Fit's TDEE is not really accurate. I'm 19 and I workout on a daily basis. My BMR is aroun 1850kcals yet in rest days Google does not even get close (normally 200-250kcals below). Is there any possibility to change the BMR? Or si there any other app that I could use?

PD: I hace a TicWatch E2, so if there were an app compatible with Wear OS would be better.

A more robust chinese-english translator with customizable personal dictionary?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 08:42 PM PDT

Looking for a more customizable Gtranslate alternative. I read Chinese stories and websites, but my grasp of the language is around middle school level. gtrans is fine for the most part, but having to decipher the weird ways it translates various names and titles gets tedious after months of doing it. I'm looking for a translation app that allows me to create a personal dictionary to translate certain phrases like names in certain ways. Maybe Gtrans has this feature. I can't find it, though.

Does "Freezing" apps increase battery life?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 11:53 AM PDT

I've been using an app called Airfrozen and it's simply disabling apps and when I click apps shortcuts it's enabling them again.

But I'm very sceptical about it. I'd got 4 hours on my old phone (OnePlus One) and now I'm using that app but again I'm getting 4 and half.

Suggestions for an app for taking notes, but also is encrypted and can access from the computer?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 11:52 AM PDT

Like simplenote, but with encryption. In simplenote, notes are stored in plaintext, and theres no extra security in accessing the notes(like asking for a PIN).

Travel App - Easy Access to Multiple Confirmations

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 05:41 AM PDT

    Background

I frequently (1-2 times a month) make a round-trip which involves a flight, bus & train - all of which are booked individually and all have separate tickets. There is also airport parking, airport lounges, restaurant vouchers & sometimes security passes which have their own confirmation emails.

Currently, what I try to do is copy all related emails into a folder in my inbox prior to travel & then use the respective carrier apps for air/rail tickets. The only downside is I find myself having to swap between apps, locate the right email etc whilst trying to move through my journey as swiftly as possible.

    Request

Does anyone know of any decent apps which would allow me to easily pull all of these tickets, passes and confirmations together into one app which I can quickly flick open when needed instead of switching between apps and searching emails?

I've just set up TripIt which is quite nice & has made an itinerary from forwarding my emails (and a bit of fiddling with the emails it didn't manage to auto-import) but I was wondering if there were any better alternatives? As it stands I'll have to screenshot and manually import my boarding passes and rail tickets, which isn't the end of the world, but I'm curious to know if I've overlooked any better apps which exist out there.

Looking for a working image uploading app

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 11:43 PM PDT

I used to use Railgun but it has stopped working because some changes to the site's url change. I've also tried minimgur but that also doesn't work. I don't want to have the bloated imgur app installed cause I don't care for it's images like memes and gifs. I want to be able to upload an image quickly and efficiently for so I can easily share to reddit or other social media.

    [Request] CamScanner or ScannerHD?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 04:21 AM PDT

I'm a college student and I currently use the paid version of Scanbot but it's kind of horrible, with edge detection not working most of the time and doesn't have a proper batch scan mode. I want to upgrade to the premium version of CamScanner or ScannerHD. I've used CamScanner free and I really like it, but I'm skeptical of the subscription fees for editing OCR texts. ScannerHD is considered same good and free, especially for OCR and Batch Mode. But is the scan quality as good as CamScanner?

TL;DR which one is better? CamScanner or ScannerHD? Is there anything better than both? Kindly suggest one!

Phone Call Recorder app that works with Bluetooth earbuds (Very Frustrated, Please Help)

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 08:53 PM PDT

I have been looking for and have tried several phone call recorder apps for my Samsung Galaxy phone. I am currently using the app, "Call Recorder-Automatic Call Recorder-callX". None of them that I have tried will work correctly with my Bluetooth earbuds. When I make a call using the earbuds, replay the recording, I only hear my voice and not the other person I was talking to. If I use wired earphones or talk on the phone without using any earphones, the recording works fine. I am really hoping that you guys have some suggestions that will help me out because I use Bluetooth all the time and really want to find something that will work with my Bluetooth earbuds. Thank you for your help.

By the way, if this helps anything at all, I am using a Samsung Galaxy S8 running Android version 9 software. Don't know if that will help out with anything.

    Simple voice assistants?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 12:07 AM PDT

I'm not looking for an alternative to Google Assistant, Siri, Alexa, and whatever new thing came up. I'm just looking for an app that activates itslef by certain command and respond to things like: call "contact name", send sms to "contact name", open "app name", and that's all. I don't want the app to phone home, I don't want the app to even access internet at all. I mean, I want an app that is privacy friendly so I don't have to actively block it to access the network.

Even the activation by commands (like the Ok google, etc) isn't even necessary, if it can be activated through buttons is all fine as I will only use it with headphones/earphones, so for example if pressing for a long time the volume up would trigger the assistant, then it would be awesome.

An app with such features exist?

    Thanks.
