I'm poor... Looking for a laptop that will run Adobe CC Posted: 09 Oct 2019 05:18 AM PDT Hello. My current HP laptop with 6GB ram isn't really up to the job of running Adobe programs like Premier Pro I am subscribed to (plus it's got a fan which is deafening)... I'm just wondering if there are any super cheap laptops with good specs out there? I can't afford anything above maybe £300 at the moment and don't have access to my other better PC. I've seen a few Lenovo laptops with 16GB of ram that were upgraded - I'm wondering if these are any good? Thank you. [link] [comments]
Help convincing my brother about the benefit of an ssd upgrade. Posted: 09 Oct 2019 08:09 AM PDT Title is pretty self explanatory, but the current situation is this: A little over a year ago, my brother and I got new laptops for college, both HP Pavilion x360 14" models with the i3-8130U, 8gb of ram, and a 500gb hard drive. My intention was always to use the hard drive for a year and then replace it with an ssd of the same capacity. Now that nvme drives have gotten so cheap, I am going to pull the trigger on the upgrade and I would like to try and convince him to do the same. He however keeps saying that the laptops were cheap and meant to last a few years before replacing them (they were about $500 at the time if it matters) and that upgrading them doesn't make sense. I personally disagree as things I can easily upgrade include the drives, ram, keyboard (add a back-lit model), display, and even the motherboard isn't too expensive to go to an i5-8250U. My current plan is to do my upgrade and have him use them back to back in the hope that he realizes these $60 now would be very well spent, but is there any other demonstration I could use to show him the benefits? As a side note, he has never used a machine with an ssd before except for watching me use my hot-rodded 2012 MBP which I no longer own (gift for my sister.) [link] [comments]
RGB Backlit keyboard modifications? Posted: 09 Oct 2019 01:16 PM PDT Hey guys so i have been curious for a while as to wether it is possible to swap out the backlit lighting in my laptop. I have a Lenovo YOGA 730 with backlit and i was just wondering if anyone has done any somewhat similar customization to their laptop. Im no big tech boi so i was hoping anyone with some more knowledge on the subject than i have would share their opinion on possibilities. It is quite a wierd thing to be doing but plain white is just boring to me when i also have a blackwidow chroma aswell. Feel free to send any pictures of your own customized laptops as i just want to add some special touch to make it less generic. Any kind of other mods that have worked for you guys would also be appreciated. (newbie post if this is against any TOS i havent seen then post will be removed) [link] [comments]
A sleek laptop for fl studio and light gaming? Posted: 09 Oct 2019 11:21 AM PDT my budget is 1500 CAD (1100 USD) I've been searching for months trying to find a nice Laptop that has these preferred specs: i7 processor, 8-16gb of ram, 256-512gb ssd I really love the surface laptop line up but they go over my budget for the specs I want. I like thin laptops, with thin bezels. What recommendations would you guys have? [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Oct 2019 10:05 AM PDT my laptop is the white hp 15-r23ne. it was working one hour ago. it was on battery and the battery was about to empty. i was busy somewhere else. i heard the laptop beep a few times and then it switched off now it wont switch on. when i press the power button the red light on the f12 button will turn on and then the white light on the capslock button will start to blink. it blinks twice then a short pause and then it blinks twice again and then another short pause and it repeats. the fan is on, the screen is off and there are no beeps when i try to turn the laptop on i removed the battery and i disconnected the power wire and then i help the power button for 15 seconds and then i put back the battery and the power wire and i tried to turn it on. still the same issue. what is happening? Posted: 09 Oct 2019 01:23 PM PDT Im looking for a gaming laptop. I prefer laptops which are not big and thick, but rather thin or at least a good built quality. I will most likely play mostly league of legends. Also no Alienware, because they are not available in my region. Thanks:) [link] [comments]

Need Touch & Pen Graphic Design/Video Editing Laptop Posted: 09 Oct 2019 01:16 PM PDT i currently have a thinkpad yoga 260 that works just fine with Adobe products, but as I move into more intensive projects (i.e. book covers, documentaries, booklets) for professional organizations, i think i'll need more processing power than an i5 and iGPU. my basic requirements: - touch and pen - must efficiently render 300dpi images - quickly renders 720p video and can smoothly handle 4K - id very much like a 1440p display, but i can live without - for the love of all that is holy some good battery life - not too big (15" MAX) things i can live without but would be convenient: - SD card reader - id like to stay within lenovo, unless there's a perfect fit elsewhere i like the look of the X1 Yoga Gen 4, but it doesn't have a dedicated GPU Thanks to all in advance! What are the best student laptops for my budget (€600-650) Posted: 09 Oct 2019 01:06 PM PDT I barely have any knowledge with computers so correct me if i said something that doesn't make any sense ... My student needs are very simple. I basically have to work a lot with office 365,making reports, analyses, presentations etc. Other than that i just want a fluent laptop with a good display to watch YouTube and Netflix with. preferably with 256GB of storage, i5 and 8GB of ram. I don't need a laptop for gaming, photo editing and other demanding stuff. [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Oct 2019 11:47 AM PDT I'm looking into getting the New Dell XPS 15 7590 (budget model) that came out 2 months ago because it seems to have very decent specs and sells at a crazy $950. Does any have it and recommend it? I'm talking specifically about the budget model, since the pricing is so good on it. EDIT: I'm specifically curious about how the Intel Graphics UHD 630 looks on the computer since it is a 15 inch screen and I'm not too well versed on graphics. [link] [comments]
H E L P. I think I’m asking for too much Posted: 08 Oct 2019 08:59 PM PDT I'm looking for an 15.6 i7/Ryzen7, 16GB RAM, SSD, with a graphic card better then a 1050, a Glossy display panel, number pad and not weigh a brick I might even be able to get away with a 1050ti but most games (future games) are taking up more power so I don't wanna be left behind just yet. I'm not tryna break the bank so my price range is under 1399. If possible [link] [comments]

Any laptop recommendations for product design student mainly using solid-works. Posted: 09 Oct 2019 10:05 AM PDT Thinking about the Dell G3 3590 (i5, 8GB RAM, GeFore GTX 1650, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD). Although I've read that that graphics card isn't the best for solidworks, not sure how true that is though. But I do like how the RAM is upgradable so I can upgrade when I move onto more complex projects. Any other laptops around £700-900? [link] [comments]

Laptop electrical noise (Lenovo Y540) Posted: 09 Oct 2019 08:53 AM PDT I have a Lenovo Y540, and I'm able to hear the sound of electricity from the laptop, is that normal or should I be concerned? Sometimes I'm able to hear it while just sitting normally using the laptop if the environment is quiet. When I put my head next to the bottom panel however, I can clearly hear it. And I don't think it's fan noise or anything because my laptop is on idle and it sounds exactly like some electrical noise. I also have the same issue with the power brick of the charger, however, the noise for the charger is very audible, and it only happens when the charger is connected to the laptop (I searched online and it says a charger shouldn't do that and means something is wrong). I am now concerned about the laptop noise and not sure if it's normal or not. [link] [comments]
Hi soon going to be college kid here and would like to ask about laptops Posted: 09 Oct 2019 07:40 AM PDT I'm not sure if I should get something like a MSI ps63 which has the usual i7 and a 1050 or should I get a an uktrabook with thunderbolt 3 so that I can plug it into a razer core (I'm living in Malaysia so the razer blade isn't an option). And if possible, mind suggesting a few laptops /uktrabooks (budget is around 1300usd for the laptop not including the razer core ) thanks to anyone that answers ( I'm also planning on doing some gaming on the side ) [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Oct 2019 07:34 AM PDT So yesterday i went to a local store where i was getting a good deal (atleast its a good one in my country). I was getting the later acer predator with 8gigs of ram, i5 9th gen, gtx 1660ti for around 1000 usd. In addition to this they offer a lot of accessories like headset and keyboard from logitech. Now here is the deal, im in 11th grade right now, my parents asked me to buy a laptop that will last atleast 5 years. This gaming laptop is actually above my use since i dont do any professional gaming. Also i fear this may be a hazardous distraction. I cant go for a console since i also want to produce music. So i really dont know if i should take the deal.. also ill be taking this to college and an expensive laptop like this will only prove to be stressful for me. What do you guys think? C930 Or X1 Yoga Gen 3? Or something else? Posted: 09 Oct 2019 07:17 AM PDT Hey guys. Lately I made a thread about Matebook x Pro but that deal isn´t going to happen. Now I am thinking between C930 or x1 yoga gen 3. This is what I can get: C930 i7-8550U 16GB RAM 512 GB SSD And it is the 4K UHD version Unused Price: 1157 € Or X1 Yoga Gen 3 i7-8650U 16 GB Ram 512 GB SSD WQHD Used Price: 1265 € or i5-8350U 16 GB RAM 256 GB SSD FHD Unused Price: 1285/1235 € I really can´t decide right now. I love the C930 but the display brightness seems to be really bad and it is supposedly very reflective. X1 should have better display but a bit worse sound but that doesn´t matter that much to me. On my computer I mostly just surf the web and use social media (I am into online marketing), sometimes need to use Photoshop/Affinity Photo, and I make websites. Also watch lots of youtube and sometimes netflix. I want something with good battery life and something that is quiet. I really can´t decide in this situation. Both seem good, the X1 is more expensive and can only be bought used with better specs (even tho the company guarantees it is in great condition and I have 1 year warranty) Or maybe is there something I haven´t considered? Thank you very much. [link] [comments]
