Posted: 25 Oct 2019 01:25 PM PDT For the past week I've noticed Chrome is always stuck at "installing" on the play store under updates. I didn't even update it. I can't cancel it as the cancel button is not selectable (ie greyed out), images below. I'm on Pixel 2XL I've restarted the phone and it still persists. Any ideas on how to fix this? Posted: 25 Oct 2019 07:52 PM PDT How do I update the towers on a tablet? We have a Verizon tablet with unlimited data connected to it. How do we update it's towers? It doesn't have a phone app so I can't call the *228. I tried a calling app from play store and it doesn't recognize the number. [link] [comments] |
Does anyone have an idea whats been eating my internal storage? Posted: 25 Oct 2019 08:08 PM PDT Storage analyzer shows me that I only used 36gb-ish of my phone storage, but my free storage is always low. And its not because of apps cache. I often tried to delete some apps, but that 'freed up storage' is slowly gone day by day. Here's the sceeenshot of my storage analyzer https://imgur.com/a/sti6DUe [link] [comments] |

A question about notched phone's. Posted: 25 Oct 2019 05:05 PM PDT The notch apocalypse first started to spread in 2017. Now 90% are infected. Now the question is can you live with it and watch videos. The answer is definitely no for me. I love watching anime in my phone and I will not stand this. So i brought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Dual AI. But now I am cornered. I have no choice but to get infected. And that's why I am here. Is there any way to not just disabled the notch but make videos looks like same shape as my phone does with an aspect ratio of 18:9 instead of 19:9. I never used a notch phone I just held it in my hand and watched it for 5 minutes and vomited ( mentally) . [link] [comments] |
Reset my Pixel and now I can't download my backup Posted: 25 Oct 2019 04:56 PM PDT "Something happened" last night and my phone (Pixel 3) wouldn't start. I got this spooky message on a black screen: "Cannot load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you may need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device." Try again / Factory data reset ----- OK so I reset my device then because restarting wasn't helping at all. Now during the device reset, when Android is guiding me to restore my previous data, it says "No backups found, no backups linked to <emailAddress>." When I login to drive.google.com, I can see my backup from Oct 24, it says it has my backed up apps, call history, and SMS. I'm extra afraid of continuing through the setup and enabling backups, because I'm afraid it will start backing up my (currently empty) device, and I'd lose my good backup there. Any experience with this? Does the backup process work as I fear, or is it OK to continue and enable backups? Thanks for any advice. [link] [comments] |
My router does not work with my cellphone Posted: 25 Oct 2019 10:25 PM PDT Two month ago we changed router and now my cellphone keeps loosing the connection. Like, it stays connected to the wifi but the internet does not. To 'fix' it I have to disconnect-reconnect and it gets fixed for a few minutes. It's really annoying, also, the internet speed is lower. The thing is that the wifi works well with other phones/PC's but does not work well with my cellphone. I've used my cellphone with other routers and works perfectly. So I have really no clue what's going on here I have a LG G5 with Android 7 [link] [comments] |

Whats it like using Samsung pay shortcut with Android 10 gestures? Posted: 25 Oct 2019 06:01 PM PDT I have an s9 so I don't have android 10 yet, but i use the home screen swipe up shortcut to access Samsung pay.... So uh... is there any complications? [link] [comments] |
Moving notes/reminders from Calendar to Keep Posted: 25 Oct 2019 05:54 PM PDT I used to use Inbox before Google canned it and made a lot of use of its sticky-note-style feature. When it went away Google changed all of the note type things into "reminders" in Calenders. In the interim I started using Keep because it matched how I do things better (Keep is easily my most used g-app). I still have around 100 notes (now "reminders") from Inbox in Calendar that I'd like to move to Keep. Is there a way to do this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Oct 2019 09:04 PM PDT I've had a oneplus 3T since it released and it finally gave out. It was alright for the first few months but it soon started lagging when opening and closing apps, typing and unlocking. More recently it would do weird things like close the app I'm currently using and open an entirely new one, have people call me on the phone app, messenger and whatsapp only to never receive the call or it would glitch and restart. The corner were the front facing camera and light indicating charge is was cracked and eventually exposed. The light would still go on whenever I charged it and front camera was functional. I got caught in the rain a couple of times with the phone out so I suspect some moisture got in. Today it finally gave out after being dropped but before it went unresponsive, the screen flashed green and white vertical lines on one side of the screen and a few similar horizontal lines on the bottom then died. I tried turning it on and it vibrated but the screen remained dark. Tried charging it now but the light indicating charging didn't turn on. So its pretty fucked. But I had some important pictures in it and a few files which I would really like to have back. I miss the days of SDcards :( . Does it sound like there is a possibility I can get them back? Should I try connecting it to my pc? Should I take it to a shop? [link] [comments] |

Solution desired, internet too slow to stream. Posted: 25 Oct 2019 05:07 PM PDT I have a very slow internet connection on my phone (my only internet access), 1mb per minute on a good day, often only half that fast. So, with such a slow connection, I can't even watch youtube on lowest rez. Even internet radio skips up sometimes. Now youtube can be captured via tubeninja, though that is irritatting to deal with the aggresive ads. However, I haven't found other sites to be similarly downloadable. I'm not worried about paysites since I can't afford them (though my mother might appreciate a solution for netflix, she'll be travelling extensively soon). Now, I figure the easiest way would be to grab cache data, since a vid stream would naturally need to be cached. However, my attempts to google a solution has only picked up windows program that works only on old and less common stream protocols, or screen recorders (obviously screen recorders won't work since I can't stream fast enough for real time viewing). Does anyone have a solution for this problem? [link] [comments] |
How can I set longer or create custom snooze notification times? Posted: 25 Oct 2019 12:30 PM PDT I have a Samsung Galaxy S8+ with Android version 9. The default notification snooze times are 15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, and 2 hours. I really would like to be able to snooze notifications and deal with them after work without snoozing every 2 hours. Sometimes I'll text someone back "I'll let you know tomorrow", they'll respond "Okay, cool." I'd really like to snooze their response for 24 hours as a reminder to text them back without making a calendar appointment or alarm. How is there not a custom duration option? Or is there one hidden somewhere?! [link] [comments] |
Galaxy tab 4 randomly reboots. Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:54 PM PDT My Galaxy tab 4 will reboot at random several times through out the day. I have had this problem before and fixed it with a factory reset in March, but it is now happening again. I have removed the SD card and tried wiping the cache partition, but nothing has fixed the problem. What can I do besides doing another factory reset? [link] [comments] |
At a glance never displaying anything else but the time and weather Posted: 25 Oct 2019 01:39 AM PDT Hi All I'm the very happy owner of a Pixel 4XL (despite all the negative press, I absolutely love this phone) and it's been refreshing to use stock android, coming from a Samsung note device. My question is actually two fold and I hope someone might be able to help
Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Any way to get longer/extend voicemails? Posted: 25 Oct 2019 06:15 PM PDT I have a Pixel XL. I get a lot of phone calls and voicemails. A lot of the time the messages get cutoff before they are done talking because there's a 3 minute limit. Is there any way to extend this? Would be really helpful. [link] [comments] |
Android compatable USB-C hard drives? Posted: 25 Oct 2019 04:19 PM PDT Does anyone know whether or not there are USB C harddrives on the market that work seamlessly between androids and computers? Ignoring formating. Im looking for a storage device that I can plug from my computers USB C port directly into my android phone without using an OTG adapter. I've found products like the Samsung duo flashsticks, but they are what the name implies a device with 2 connectors. USB A on one end and USB C on the other. And rather restrictive in capacity. All my googleing so far has resulted in outdated articles and videos about how to connect disks using an OTG adapter. [link] [comments] |
Disabled charging notification Posted: 25 Oct 2019 04:20 AM PDT Hello everyone, few weeks ago, when charging my phone (Samsung A7 2018) I've accidentaly clicked charging status notification and most likely disabled it. Now, when plugging my phone into charger I don't receive any notification about charging or if the phone reached 100% battery. When using slower charger, notification about slower charging appears. In system ui settings I see 1 category disabled. I unfortunately ran out of ideas how to fix this problem. Every bit of help would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
How to de-Verizonify a Galaxy Tab 4? Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:35 PM PDT I recently got an old Galaxy Tab 4 8" tablet with the Verizon branding and the ugly red Verizon screen when booting up. Is there a way to remove the Verizon aspect of the tablet to just make it a normal old Android tablet? Also, is there a way to get rid of the "no SIM card" notifications and just make it a purely WiFi tablet? Last Question: I know this is probably unlikely, but is there also a way to update such an old tablet to something newer like Pie? Thanks!! [link] [comments] |
Uber app requesting location even when the app is disabled? Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:30 PM PDT So I just recently updated my Pixel 2 XL to android 10 (I was leery to do it sooner because of the boot problems that were reported) but this morning I got a notification telling me that Uber has requested my location. Now I found this quite odd since I was pretty sure I had disabled this app previously to prevent this very tracking behavior. I checked and sure enough, it was still disabled but somehow was able to still request my location? I don't think so. I have since uninstalled the app, but I just wanted to ask if this is normal? Why is an app allowed to grab location when disabled? [link] [comments] |
any messaging apps that allow to keep messages grouped..Specifics in post Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:29 PM PDT IDK if you can do this in android by default or if there's an app I could download but basically I want this... An app that lets me keep work contacts completely separated from non work contacts. I don't want any chance of me talking as non work me to work people, such as telling a friend I want to eat that chicks shitter like an apple fritter, but accidentally sending it to my boss.. lol My new job is pretty strict on what you can and cannot say at work and on social media (pretty dumb..) and I don't want to fuck up my brand new, good wage, because I made a terribly disgusting but awesome joke to a friend. Pixel 2 Android Q: File managers show my music but music apps don’t. Posted: 25 Oct 2019 09:19 AM PDT I'm able to find all my tracks using ES File Explorer or Google Files, but music apps like Pi Music Player or Google Play Music can only find a few tracks. Entire folders are missing. So far I've: Force-stopped and cleared the cache on both apps. Opened each app and chosen "refresh" or "rescan". Restarted phone and repeated. Used file explorers to open files with the music apps. The music apps will play the tracks one at a time, but don't "remember" them, and they don't show up later. None of the tracks or folders are hidden. They just don't show up. Can anyone help here? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
