How is a Mi Max 3 in 2019?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 07:14 PM PDT

I can get my hands on a Mi Max 3 for around 250$ in my country. Is it still a good purchase? Am I missing something? I'm considering it primarily for the 5,500 mAh battery and the screen size.

Does it have the latest MIUI / Android versions? I've read people say it has Pie but the seller only claims Oreo update..

For someone who has used both it and a 4,000 mAh Xiaomi (Redmi Note 5,7, Mi9T, etc.) is the extra 1 500 perceived /worth it?

    Thank you!

New Mi 9T stuck on Mi logo after installing update, the bootloader is locked and can't access recovery mode. Is there any way of reinstalling the software or should i contact the store where I bought it?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 04:03 PM PDT

I bought a new Mi 9T today and after using it for a few minutes I installed the latest update (I think that it was 10.3.11.0.PFJMIXM looking at another phone that I updated today succesfully). The phone was running fine before the update so I'm not sure if it was a software or a hardware error. After the update the phone doesn't get past the Mi logo.

My issue is that every single guide about reinstalling the OS that I've read requires either entering into the recovery mode or an unlocked bootloader, and my phone doesn't enter into the recover mode, and I can't unlock it since I didn't enable OEM unlocking before installing the update.

Is there anything that I can do, or should I contact my vendor or Xiaomi for support? Thanks.

    Xiaomi Notebook Air any good?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 09:17 PM PDT

I've been looking at a couple of laptops for University next year and have been eyeing the Xiaomi Notebook air, The 13.3 i5-8250U and the 12.5 i5-8200Y versions (2019) in particular. Everything seems ideal in those laptops with the great display, clean metal body and dedicated graphics (not to mention the price) but the 4GB RAM and battery life worry me a bit. Battery life is really important to me as the campus is pretty far from home and I dont want to looking for an outlet everywhere I go. I am just planning to do some typing, web browsing and a bit of light gaming (if I even get time) on the laptop. Should I go through with the purchase? Or are there vetter suited alternatives in a close price range? Anything helps! Thanks!

    Bootloader unlock wait time?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 05:14 PM PDT

I have a Mi 9T and am looking to flash a custom ROM on it (Evolution X).

This is my first Xiaomi phone and so it is also my first time creating a Mi account. I heard new accounts have a longer waiting period.

    My question is:

    1) How long will I have to wait?

    2) When I click unlock and it tells me to wait for a certain number of hours, will it already have wiped my device in the process or will my device only be wiped with a successful bootloader unlock? I heard clicking unlock is the only way to check how long the wait is. I don't want to have to wipe my device and still have to wait for weeks before actually being able to unlock.

    Customuzing system sound alarms

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 08:49 PM PDT

Hello there! I have a question about system alarms/notifications such as alarm of low battery, alarm on starting the charging process and unpluging charging device. I bet every user understands what I mean. So, I would like to disable this sounds as soon as I use my smartphone nearly every night, then plug my charging device in. And my phone produces quite a loud sound, which I find rather irritating. Also I don't want to interfere with my roommate sleep. I surfed the net for the answer and found that you can change this sounds in folder /system/media/audio/ui . So, my question is the following: would it solve my problem, if I delete several sounds in this folder, or it will result in some sort of system error? And what about guarantee agreement, will it still be in charge if I do the procedure described above? I would appreciate if someone gives a guide or maybe a better solution.

Is there a way to increase performance on games for Mi 9?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 02:07 PM PDT

I just noticed that in a game I'm currently playing (DB Legends) performance isn't exactly perfect. I was expecting an overall smoother experience. Do you think that it's just the game's fault or is there a way to increase performance?

As the title states, I am looking to buy a k20 pro. I have ATT, am I going to run into any band issues or anything like that? Should I just be being the global version? Thanks in advanced.

    What should I buy?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 12:17 PM PDT

I'm going to get a redmi k20 pro from AliExpress. There are two options, one is a phone with the Chinese Rom and the other is a phone with the global Rom. The global Rom one is a bit costlier. I'm not gonna use the stock Rom, I'll install pixel experience, los or something along those lines.

    Note 7 vs mi 9t?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 01:31 PM PDT

I am trying to decide in what phone to get and these look very impressive. I am a light user and only really care about a few things. I prefer to spend under 300$, but that's about the highest I can justify on something I don't use a ton.

Would like to take macro photos or close as possible with good detail. I do not care at all about any other camera feature. Not sure how much of a difference the SD 730 makes vs the SD 660. I won't be playing moving 3d games like fortnite, but maybe things like slay the spire or a ccg.

The biggest thing though is a phone that can be used in daylight. Returned a Blu xi+ because it looks horrible in sunlight. Doesn't need to be clear, but I need to walk in daylight while using the phone without having to constantly stop and cover it just to see.

I am also open to suggestions of other xiaomi phones.

Mi9 alarm ringtone does not change.

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 04:41 PM PDT

So I have the new Mi9 phone from Xiaomi and I use it to get up in the morning. I like to wake up to music so I downloaded some. When I change the default ringtone to my song everything is fine. I turn it OFF and it rings in the morning, but not with the song I chose but with the default one :/ I already gave storage permissions to the clock but it didn't fixed it. Also if I put an alarm with the phone ON my song plays just fine. Can someone help me? Thanks!
