Would KB4512941 be causing game/system wide lag? Posted: 02 Sep 2019 05:13 PM PDT Okay bit of some backstory. I bought a new laptop for college and gaming (Razer Blade 15 2019) and ever since I got it it's been having some HARD lag "bursts" (crazy hard system wide lag that only occurs every once every few minutes). I updated the laptop as soon as I got it (this weekend). I can't tell if it's a laptop problem or windows problem. For reference this update has issues with Cortana and the search engine. Both are working fine for me but people are saying they're being CPU hogs. Would that be the case? Would that be what's causing my laptop to slog every few minutes? [link] [comments]

The new update sucks (sorry for whoever worked on it) Posted: 02 Sep 2019 06:41 PM PDT After installing the new update, my memory usage begun to climb. Cortana is more involved/ visible and UI is nicer. But these pros are nothing compared to the memory usage. I could not use a video tab and a light program simultaneously. The computer was so bad I had to restart it about 6 times a day. I used to run for weeks before restating. At a certain point I couldn't use Netflix without it running out of memory. I then made the decision to reset the computer or go back to the previous version. The computer crashed 2 times before I could complete the 6 clicks needed for going back to the version before. I am now on the previous version and my computer is running Sooper smooth. Whoever worked on the update, im very sorry but it isn't a good one. Good work though. [link] [comments]
I want to DELETE Cortana, Not disable. Is it possible? Posted: 02 Sep 2019 06:25 PM PDT I'm sure the program for cortana is probably somewhere in sys 32, what do I have to delete to get rid of cortana? Also how bad would this screw up my system (I'm willing to put up with a few bugs but obviously I don't wanna brick my system). Also would windows update add it back next update or no? . Your probably curious why do I want to delete cortana instead of just disabling it? I don't trust MS and out of sheer spite. It's none of MS's business what I do on my PC and even if they claim they aren't collecting personal info, I don't trust them. . On a side note is there a way to delete all the XBOX junk as well? I want it to be that when I open settings, the entire "gaming" section is either completely gone or effectively busted. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Sep 2019 06:00 PM PDT So I captured a really dumb event in my game and when I went back to view the clip, the audio was still there, but the thumbnail was a frown face and the video was all black. I've captured multiple events before with no problem so I don't know how or if I can fix this. [link] [comments]

File explorer doesn't self-refresh and system stuck when restarting. Posted: 02 Sep 2019 07:55 AM PDT Hi, File explorer doesn't self-refresh after system is booted for a couple of minutes. Also, the system when restarting is stuck at the restart screen with an infinite restart animation. After a couple of hours search, found it may be related to smb directories that are not longer available but pinned to the quick access. I've removed everything, cleared recent items as said here and here, also did all of this and this, but nothing seem to change. This also seems to be causing restart to get stuck, but can't be sure of that. So, does anyone have any opinions or suggestions of how to fix it? [link] [comments]
Start search failed after disabling Bing search Posted: 02 Sep 2019 11:34 AM PDT I'm in Windows 10. I'm used to using start menu to search for my programs. However, every time I search for something, the Bing search engine keeps showing some web results that I do not need. To disable, previously I would create an entry named "BingSearchEnabled" in the registry. (https://www.howtogeek.com/224159/how-to-disable-bing-in-the-windows-10-start-menu/) However, after upgrading my OS, I found this trick will totally disable the whole search engine. I mean, after restarting explorer, no results will show up even for local content. I understand Microsoft is trying to propagate their search engine, but I just do not need this feature, and sometimes the searching process is heavily prolonged because of the bad networking. Is there any way to disable Bing search? [link] [comments]
Windows 10 update (1709 KB4493441) installation Posted: 02 Sep 2019 02:23 PM PDT Hello, so i am new to windows 10 and windows update in general, the update mentioned in rhe title successfully downloaded and started automatically installing without my consent As I understood all updates require a restart to install, however now that the update has started (currently stuck at 100%) can I shut my laptop down? Or will that damage ot corrupt files, and is there a way to stop updates from installing before I restart or give permission Thank you EDIT: after checking, I already have the 2019-07 and 2019-08 updates, so why am I getting the 2019-04 update at this time? And how do I make it move from 100% to completion? [link] [comments]
Power cord plugged in, not charging Posted: 02 Sep 2019 08:03 AM PDT So when I sat down today on my laptop, I noticed that the battery had been almost fully colored white, but not completely. I found it odd since I had left it charging overnight. I hovered my cursor over it and it said "97% Available. Plugged in, Not Charging" I immediately tried using another cord, since my current one is sorta beat up, but that didn't work, I tried shutting it down, and leaving it unplugged for a few minutes, I tried windows updates, but nothing seems to work. What can I do? [link] [comments]
Recover files from a temporary profile? Posted: 02 Sep 2019 01:51 PM PDT Ok, so here's what happened. My computer that hosted a minecraft server i put a lot of time and effort into shut down while it was in a temporary profile. I boot it up again, and now the server (and many other files) are gone, which is very upsetting for me. Is there any possible way to recover all (or any) of these files? [link] [comments]
Stuck in Windows Update limbo. How do I resolve this? Posted: 02 Sep 2019 07:04 AM PDT After a while of postponing I decided to finally update and restart my computer to give it the latest update that Windows was warning me about. I think it was to prepare me for something in November. I should have paid better attention to the message or else I might be able to give more information about it. I started the update at 1:45 AM, the first screen eventually got to 100% after a couple hours and then the second screen after restart got to 4%. I went to sleep at this point. I checked the PC at around 9:00 AM and the PC was at just 29%. I've restarted the PC so I could try to redo the update. Now its been another hour of "Undoing changes made to your computer..." Is this something I just have to wait out for hours and hours or is there way I can fix my PC and get the update properly installed. EDIT: Looks like I can't even reset my PC while keeping my files, do a System Restore, System Image Recovery, Startup Repair, or even go back to a previous build. Looks like I'm screwed here. Posted: 02 Sep 2019 09:10 AM PDT I have a laptop with integrated graphics card(intel hd) and a dedicated graphics card(amd radeon). PC, switches between, dedicated graphics mode and integrated graphics mode, depending upon the usage, for ex: it uses dedicated graphics card when playing games and uses integrated graphics card while doing normal stuff like browsing etc. So, I want an app which will monitor dedicated graphics card usage, like memory, which app used it etc. And store it somewhere, and would present it in graphical form/tabular form, whenever I want to see it. For windows 10 64-bit. [link] [comments]

Are there benefits to creating a Windows Account? Posted: 02 Sep 2019 12:06 PM PDT I have a desktop and laptop that I use daily (laptop at work and desktop at home). I was wondering if linking these two laptops together with a Windows account will provide any benefits as to linking these two computers together. I don't use Onedrive or use any paid windows apps so I don't have a need for one yet. [link] [comments]
What's with this "action needed" bullshit? Posted: 02 Sep 2019 11:49 AM PDT Every morning, I have to manually connect to WIFI after the most recent update because it gets stuck on "action needed" after my WIFI shuts off without any attempt to reconnect. It's really fucking annoying that I'm considering reverting to an older update just to fix it. is there any way to fix it without doing that? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Sep 2019 09:10 AM PDT I've ran through the command prompt and scanned and done the restore health, restarted windows, deleted all AMD files off of my computer, installed the newest NVIDIA drivers. When the computer is idle it is fine, but when I go to play which is why I got the damn thing, I face either a blue screen or black screen anywhere from 10-20 minutes into playing. I'm at my wits end... [link] [comments]
Stop Update from wrecking my computer? Posted: 01 Sep 2019 10:25 PM PDT So this has happened a few times now: Windows tells me it's time to update, either I let it do so or it eventually takes away my choice not to, it takes some time to install, the computer reboots, fails to boot, tries again a few times, Windows goes into rollback which takes even more time and eventually I'm back to the login screen, having accomplished nothing but wasting time. Is this a known issue with a simple, relatively quick fix? If not, how do I stop Update from trying altogether? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Sep 2019 07:22 AM PDT So I was trying to play some minecraft mods through technic launcher because twitch didnt have it so I download the mod and I cant load it and I figure out that its because I only have 1 gig of allocated ram whenever I have 12 gigs of ram but its capping at one 1 gig it wont let me go higher. So I do some digging and find out you need a 64 bit java (and I guess I have 32 bit?) so I try to install it but it gives me error code 1618 so I do some digging on that and a website says I would have to reset my computer which isn't happening for some minecraft mod so is there a way to download Java 64bit and not have that error code without reseting my computer?
