Why is my phone constantly using 2 gb of ram? Posted: 30 Sep 2019 07:30 PM PDT Without any apps open, my phone is still using 2 gb of ram. And this is after boosting the ram so that apps don't run in the background. Why is this happening and is there a solution? Running Android 6.0.1 [link] [comments] |
Wallet and watch... - iOS v Android Posted: 30 Sep 2019 01:31 PM PDT I currently use an iPhone 7+, and I am looking to upgrade this year, and it's a big debate in my head about whether I might want to switch to Android, or get a new iPhone. I have a variety of pros and cons in my head about either one (and I genuinely am happy on my iPhone, I am really not interested in jingoistic 'ios sucks' comments). The 2 main biggest things that make me lean iPhone are the wallet and watch. Now the watch...not much I can do about that. Endless reviews list WearOS as still lagging behind the apple watch...I can just take that into account, but I can't just wish it better. I am asking more about the wallet. I use the iPhone wallet app ... A LOT. This is the app that collects not only credit cards, but tickets, club cards, your Starbucks card, all those assorted bar codes and QR codes you need to pull out to show a cashier or a ticketing agent. I've looked, and my understanding is that Android just has nothing similar, at least natively. Now I know one of Android's highlights is a wider variety of customization options. I know Android certainly gives you better customization of your home screen app layout...I could make a page of apps with special codes so they are at least all in one spot, and I suspect I could, if needed, keep a library of codes in Google Keep or something like that (and honestly...that would probably work except for a few codes that have a habit of changing the code from time to time). Has anyone moved from iPhone to Android and found a good substitute for the wallet app amidst 3rd party app options? If it weren't for those 2 factors, odds are good I might order a Pixel 4 in 2 weeks time, but these 2 things are still the biggest points of inertia for me. [link] [comments] |
"com.qualcomm.qti.tetherservice has stopped" error when trying to Tether on HTC One M9 Posted: 30 Sep 2019 07:07 PM PDT I got the phone from ebay from some semi-sketchy seller, but all I really want to do right now is tether. I don't know what model the phone is since the settings just say "HTC One M9", but it should be an international one. It seems rooting would probably fix my issue but I don't really want to spend a few hours rooting my device just so I can tether. I tried updating to the latest software but I got an issue that was along the lines of "We detected your current software is modified and you cannot install this update" even though as far as I know, it isn't. I have also tried booting into safe mode and the issue still persists. Anyone know how to fix this? It pops up whenever I try to enable tethering. Edit: Model number seems to be: htc_himaulatt [link] [comments] |
Hey guys, is it safe to use compressed air to clean particles out of an S7's ports? Posted: 30 Sep 2019 04:30 PM PDT I've noticed some dust in my S7's AUX port, charging port, and speakers. I also see a crumb like particle in my mic. I was wondering if it's safe to use compressed air to clean it, would it just blow the dust/crumb farther into my phone? If so, would that cause any harm? Any help is much appreciated guys, and I'll make sure to pay it forward! :) [link] [comments] |
An interesting experience at a phone repair shop Posted: 30 Sep 2019 06:13 PM PDT So I have a Motorola play z phone. Couple days ago I dropped it and broke the screen and I gave it to a phone repair shop to replace the screen. When the guy at the shop took it in, he asked for my pin. I asked him why do you need the PIN or a screen replacement and at the end he didn't ask for it. I didn't think much of it and gave the phone to them and went home. Now I came back to pickup the phone and the screen was fixed and everything was working. But I realized my phone was unlocked! I didn't ask the at the time how they unlocked it without knowing my pin, but now I am curious. How did they manage to unlock it without my pin and obliviously without my fingerprint? Stop apps from opening play store? Posted: 30 Sep 2019 09:55 PM PDT Hi, Ads in app are getting more annoying, and some of them got easily misclicked and just bring me to their dumb app page. Is there a way to basically prevent this redirection for all apps? [link] [comments] |
ROG Phone 2 is not Play Protect Certified. Is there something that could be done? Posted: 30 Sep 2019 10:47 AM PDT I ordered this phone last month from China and finally received it last night. Because it is not certified, I cannot use some of the Google apps (Google Pay being the most important to me). I could not install Netflix from Play Store so I downloaded APK from a apkmirror.com and it works now. But Google Pay is a problem for me. Is there anything that could be done? I may not be able to return this phone so am I just stuck with this phone now? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Sep 2019 05:57 AM PDT Whenever I'm listening to any musoc app, musicolet, pandora, aimp, pie randomly pauses it. Sometimes after an hour, sometimes after one song. I'm unoptimezed the apps, and put them on the no sleep list. What else do I need to do? [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth audio issues on Android 9. Posted: 30 Sep 2019 08:24 PM PDT I've been having this issue for a while now with my Moto G6 Plus on Android 9. Also had the issue with my G5 Plus on Android 8. So let's say I'm listening to music/podcasts on Spotify or some other generic music players via my Bluetooth headset. I get a message on WhatsApp that's some sort of multimedia (voice note, video, etc). I'll pause my music and play the message I received. However, seconds into playing the message, the audio will suddenly go mute. If I restart the voice note or video I'm playing in WhatsApp, it no longer has audio, even at sections that played fine before. Adjusting system volume does not help; the media remains muted. The only way to get the audio to play in the messenger app is to kill the now-paused music player in the background and start the message over (this can be done quickly by swiping it away in the Android overview screen). This is not ideal. I don't want to be killing my music player every couple seconds instead of pause it, just because I want to listen to audio in another app via Bluetooth. Pausing should be enough, as this issue doesn't happen via my regular speakers. Then afterwards, I'll have to reopen the music app and find what I was playing, blah blah blah 🙄. Now, I used WhatsApp as an example here, because I thought it was the issue all along; causing me to uninstall, update, clear data, etc. To the point where I'm always using the latest WhatsApp beta, in the hope that this issue gets resolved. I've recently found out however, that the issue is also present in Telegram and Instagram, where voice notes and videos are muted until I kill my paused music player in the background. This is just downright annoying and shouldn't happen. I can't find any issue like this anywhere online, and so I have found no answers. Does anyone know any fixes or workarounds to this? Or at least answers to why it happens? TL;DR: Audio via Bluetooth goes mute when playing multimedia from messaging apps, and the only way to get it to play like normal is to kill my music player in the background that had already been paused and is out of the picture. Verizon Ellipses 7 stuck in Boot Loop with no recovery mode after factory update Posted: 30 Sep 2019 07:54 PM PDT Hey peeps, I have an older Verizon Ellipses 7 (Model: QMV7B) that I wanted to give to my grandma overseas for video calls. I went ahead and followed Verizon's instructions to update from android 4.2.2 to 4.4 so that I could install TeamViewer and remotely troubleshoot if needed. After the update seemingly finished, the "Powered by Android" boot screen appeared and remained for 2 hours. All research pointed me to booting into recovery mode by holding either PWR+VolUP or PWR+VolDN. That was unsuccessful, so I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes as that was also recommended, but I found no success after doing that. What it does do is:
Any help or references would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Do launchers slow your phone down? Posted: 30 Sep 2019 06:54 PM PDT I have a Samsung note 10+, I've managed to get it performing at its peak, the overlay I must say is hideous is my opinion. Looking to give it a stock feel to it, if I install a launcher, does the original UI still run in the background? [link] [comments] |
Google Assistant no longer shows sports scores Posted: 30 Sep 2019 06:41 PM PDT The Google app doesn't show the scores of teams I follow in my notification drawer nor do the cards appear in my in app feed. If I search a team, the card and score will appear at the top of the search results and then I can opt to pin the score, but that's the only way to see the score now. Not sure what happened or why but it's been this way for a while. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Sep 2019 06:57 AM PDT Sorry if this is the wrong forum for posting this, but my honor 20 keeps sending me to Amazon daily deals with the tag "tasty food" each day as well as websites which have pointless information. I have ran a few different known and trusted anti virus apps to see if they picked up anything however nothing as well as malwarebytes. I have looked through my list of apps on settings and cannot find any untrusted or app which is not recognised as well as clearing my chrome data and storage on Chrome, deleting all cookies etc. https://thisdaythatage.com/ This is a blog I keep getting redirected to, it seems to be a normal website and has an unsubscribe button in the footer which I have clicked many times now. Posted: 30 Sep 2019 04:01 PM PDT Hello. Im working with a samsung S7 active can anyone recommend a good auto clicker app with the capability to swipe. I want the app to be able to also simulate a drive to a location from point a to point b if this exists I currently use auto clicker but it constantly crashes and you have to reopen it, sometimes going in to the settings and turning off the clicking option and turning it back on, and it doesnt have a simulation option for a drive. While important, a trip simulation is important, a good auto clicker with slider function that you can change press times and slide times etc. everything that most of these apps are capable of, as long as it's stable and not constantly crashing [link] [comments] |

ES file explorer can't open images on sd card, unless i rename the file. Posted: 30 Sep 2019 03:41 PM PDT I have a weird problem with ES file explorer, all versions. Android 9. it has read write permissions on the sd card and all other permissions. when I take a photo which is saved to sd card, ES can show thumbnail of the photo, and knows the dimensions of the photo. But it won't load the actual photo when I want to view it in the ES image browser, it says "could not load image". I discovered that if I rename the photo file name, then ES image browser can open the photo. Anyone have any idea why android fucks with ES this way? Other file managers don't have this issue of needing to rename files, but I don't want to use other file managers because ES has a good mp3 player that supports LAN streaming. [link] [comments] |

Best and easiest way to root android? Posted: 30 Sep 2019 11:32 AM PDT I need to install a power off timer app on my galaxy s8 and they all seem to need root access. 1: Is there a power off/shutdown timer that doesn't require root access? I don't understand why this feature is not built-in. 2: Best and easiest way to root? (Instructions available seems to work on pervious android versions) I have done the latest updates. 3: what's the harm in having a phone being rooted? Interference with other apps? Android issues after Ultra Power Save Mode Posted: 30 Sep 2019 03:08 PM PDT I have had this issue with every Android phone I have owned. Current phone I am having this issue with is the Note 10 plus. After taking the phone out of Ultra Power Save Mode apps no longer update/push notifications properly. The main apps I have issues with are Snapchat, Google Hangouts, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Opening the apps will load them properly though, but only when they're open will they update properly.
