Which app that most people love and recommend you think isn't actually that good?

It's Pocketcasts for me. I tried a lot to get used to it but I couldn't, even before the infamous redesign.

Podcast app similar to iOS Overcast?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 07:12 AM PDT

I'm a recent escapee from the iOS ecosystem and one app I really miss is Overcast. Mostly because it had a feature that would dynamically speed up the playback as it saw fit in addition to cutting out silences. I know some Android apps will cut silence, but do any auto change the speed?

    What is this broadcasting app?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 11:48 AM PDT

    What is this broadcasting app?

Went to an event over the weekend and so many people were using this app to broadcast the event.

I don't recognise it at all. I've looked at Instargam, Twitter, Periscope, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat but none of the apps looked like this at all.

The white blocks said wave. And the green blocks said things like xxx is viewing your broadcast. Top left in a red box said live and next to that is the viewer count. Top right circles looked like profile photos - not sure if this was the broadcaster's or the viewer's. As the broadcast goes live and stops, bold white text is displayed to show the messages.

This photo came from a clip i made using my regular phone camera app. :)

Can I use two play store regions on my phone?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 11:06 AM PDT

I moved to Singapore from Canada but I'm apprehensive to switch my play store over since it can't be switched back for a year.

    Phone: OnePlus 5 - OxygenOS 9.0.7

Can I open a second google account on my play store and run the 2 accounts as separate regions?

If not, can I clone my play store and run a separate google account on each store, different regions on each? And what cloning app should I use?

    Other options?

If I just switch, will all my Canadian apps still run?

    Visual voicemail "something went wrong"

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 10:58 AM PDT

I'm having a problem with my visual voicemail app (version 11.2.21.0). I've been getting an error message that just says "Something went wrong. Try again later." I googled it, and the solution was to force stop the app and clear the cache. I did that, but still the same error message persists. Anybody else ran into this problem? Any ideas in how to fix?

100% of my Photos are backed up on Google Photos and Google Photos alone. What's the best way to back them up?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2019 12:36 PM PDT

In the unlikely event that Google Photos runs into a major issue and I'm unable to access information from there (and/or Drive) I'm screwed and will lose a lifetime of photos.

At some point I want to sort through them and get a few hundred of the most important ones printed but I'll likely procrastinate that forever.

What I would like to do is back everything on Photos up to a flash drive or hard drive or something. What's the best way to do that? I didn't see a "download all" button.

Push Notifications based on Keywords in News

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 09:35 AM PDT

I would like to receive push notifications to my lock screen that are exclusively based on a keyword search of news sites.

For example, if I used the keyword phrase, "great white shark", I would want news notification pushes about great whites but not about other news topics I might read in my spare time.

If this is possible with free apps, even better.

I've tried configuring Google News and can get live search results that I've saved as a favorite but I can't figure out how to get them to push to my phone, or get current pushes to stop including crap I don't care about, much less eliminate stuff I am interested in but don't want pushed to my lock screen.

If it matters, I believe I'm using Android version 9-5214744.

    Thank you for your help!

Does anyone know a note-taking app with markdown, latex equations and free drawing support?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 04:48 AM PDT

Hi there, this has been an elusive set of features for mobile in my experience... Although almost all main note applications on Windows and Mac have had this kind of support for decades now, I cannot for the life of me find a mobile app with all 3 of these functionalities.

I ask this because I just started a course in Mechanical Engendering in a not-so-safe part of town where it wouldn't be a very good idea to bring a notebook, so I wanted to use my phone with an external keyboard to take notes during lectures.

    So:

    Markdown for quick, minimal formatting

    Latex for math notation

Freedrawing for the eventual graph or diagram

    Browsers with bottom navigation

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 09:46 AM PDT

Looking for a mobile I ternet browser which has the option of bottom navigation. Also important -

    1. Not chrome (from emotional anti-monopolistic concerns etc.)

    2. Some sort of ad-block

    3. Bonus - can sync with Firefox (which I use on my PC)

What do you think is the best?

    Videoder

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 08:08 AM PDT

I recently had to reset my phone and re-install a bunch of apps, Videoder being one of them.

Problem is, now links from YouTube do not work.

Any Google searches bring up threads from like 9 months ago, where it stopped working for some people, but then apparently began working again at some point.

I'm currently using Version 14.2, and YouTube Vanced(which never gave me an issue before).

Just checked, and other sites links will generate download links, so that is working.

Is there something I'm missing or can I revert back to a previous build where it'll work?

Alarm Clock that displays a to-do list when it goes off

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 05:46 AM PDT

Just like the title says. I've got a bit of a sleeping in problem because morning brain always decides I don't have anything to do anyway. Was wondering if there's an app that gets in my face and explains that I do in fact have things to do.

Looking for a very basic "inventory" app for my parents

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 09:42 AM PDT

    Hello!

So I'm looking for a very basic inventory manager app for my parents. They are going shopping like twice a month and they always call me multiple times that day to search trough the whole kitchen and garage to see if we have that thing at home. Now that my dad got his first smartphone too, i want him to start really using it!

What I need: -A simple list to add items with easily changable piece counts (add +1, remove -1) -accessable for the 3 of us (different accounts) -online (so it doesn't have to be exported as an excel table and be downloaded by others)

What would be awesome but not necessary: -notifications when "stocks" are getting low

What I don't want: -subscriptions ( i hate subscriptions, sorry)

Ads, or one time purchases are fine.

I alredy tried like 15 apps on the play store but every one of them had a deal-breaker problem, hopefully someone can help me out here!

    Party Planning App?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 09:22 AM PDT

    Hello all!

I am looking for recommendations of apps that will help me plan birthday parties. I am not a professional planner but I would like some help planning things for my kids and those around me.

I am hoping to find an app that will have invitation tracking (sent, rsvp, not coming), food planning, checklist of tasks with a time line, and notes for decoration ideas. Bonus points if it has a place to save pictures.

    Any suggestions?

What's a good app for downloading podcasts to listen to offline?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 05:09 AM PDT

I'm looking to download some JRE, a few sports broadcasts and possibly some true crime. Ideally the app would save where I left off because I can rarely listen to most podcasts in one sitting

    Looking for different podcast app

    Posted: 12 Aug 2019 04:08 AM PDT

I am looking for a new podcast app I've been using podcast addict for a couple years now. I like many of the features on it especially things like leaving episodes after I'm done automatically in the east of use and adding in searching for new podcast.

I would really like to find one that is cloud-based and I can use across multiple devices whether it be my phone laptop tablet or other.
