Where are we with USB-C audio with charging? Android Help

Where are we with USB-C audio with charging?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 11:06 AM PDT

    Are we there yet?

I currently own a Galaxy Note 5 and I am at the point that I need to upgrade due to the limited onboard storage and no extrnal storage on this model.

I am looking at the Note 8, 9, and even the Note 10+ as a viable replacement.

While I am not a fan of the decision to remove the headphone jack on the Note10+, I can probably work around it for the time being.

This brings me to my questions...

Where are we with charging the phone while using USB audio? It this a thing? Is it stable? Which phones support it?

I vaguely remember back in Android 5, they released USB-C audio, but you couldn't charge at the same time.

I also vaguely remember that on Timur's kernal for the Nexus 7 tablet it was accomplished, so in my head it is possible?

I've done some research into this and I am just as lost now as I was before I began.

Does anyone have an idea where Android OS and the phones that support it are with this highly desired feature (by me at least)?

The S7 in 2019 is cheap and is still supported with updates from Samsung. What are the disadvantages of buying the S7 compared to a budget phone released in 2019?

Redmi 6 pro stuck at mi screen.

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 08:07 PM PDT

I am not into flashing etc so this just happened out of nowhere. Just grabbed my phone and it was off. I thought it was the battery but I charged it today. When I tried to open it goes to mi screen and then turns off.

I believe I need to restore the official firmware somehow for my phone to boot again but I have no clue? Is there any guide? Its not the chinese version.

Anyway to auto hide for the navbar with Pie?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 04:47 PM PDT

My Moto Z2 Force updated to pie yesterday and I absolutely hate how the navbar doesn't auto hide anymore.

Is there any way to fix it, has anyone figured it out?

Is this normal for a Super Amoled screen? Should I take it back?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 09:45 AM PDT

Hello everyone! Just a couple hours ago I bought a Galaxy A50, I'm loving it so far but I just noticed some weird dark stripes on the screen when displaying greyish images. The picture I've taken is with max brightness in a dark room but still it's pretty noticeable using the one ui with dark mode on

Getting a phantom "Processing" notification that does not show up and causes phone to vibrate.

Happening only with the Family Link app, but vibration notifications are turned off for that app. Happens between 2-5 times at random intervals.

Repurposing an Android phone into a music player for a young children

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 05:23 AM PDT

    Hi /r/AndroidQuestions !

I've been searching for quite some time on how I could effectively repurpose an Android phone (Nexus 5p) into a music player (Spotify) for my 8yo son. I've looked at custom ROMs (LineageOS) as well as apps that can restrict usage and I haven't found anything that would allow me to set up the phone, wifi configs and everything and hand it out to my son while knowing he will only be able to access some apps (Spotify) and nothing else on the device, especially settings, play store, youtube and such.

    Has anyone done this before?

    S8 Active Charging Defect?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 02:56 PM PDT

There's an ongoing problem regarding charging an S8 Active. Normally after charging, I unplug it, screen goes black, and it does a constant non-pulsating vibration. Only way I get it to stop is by doing a forced restart.

    How can I fix it?

How can I verify an APK's legitimacy?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 11:48 AM PDT

    Background

I recently decided to dowgrade Pocket Casts from their current 7.x.x versions to the final major version 6 (6.4.15).

Normally I would have answered my own questions by using a trusted source, namely APKMirror, but as it's paid-for app, I made use of a Google Drive link shared in /r/pocketcasts (the app itself has DRM and is working, I specifically want to check that I don't have a patched version).

    Process so far, and questions

When I installed the app I didn't get any warnings about a bad signature/lack of signature, does that in itself prove anything?

As another precaution I looked at VirusTotal, which doesn't give any warnings, and interestingly provides certificate details, which look legitimate. Would this, or anything else shown here, be enough to prove legitimacy?

Ideally I'd like to see somewhere the contains official records of published APKs MD5/SHA hash values so I could run that check myself, is there anywhere like this?

Thanks in advance, hope that makes sense!

    Lg G7 Upgrade Issue

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 03:53 PM PDT

Is anyone else having wifi issues after the newest software update? My home wifi network is SO slow like 1.5 Mbps download speed , and I do a speed test on my computer and everything is fine (29 Mbps download speed). Apps are slow, and the wifi connection is constantly dropping to LTE. Annoying cause I'm burning through my data like crazy without realizing it.

I spent 2 hours on the phone with my router company but that didn't solve the wifi speed issue on my phone.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this after the newest software update, or I guess in general really?

I've noticed that since I've used it my charging has been a lot slower. Does the box affect how fast it charges or is it just the cable?

    Add/scam on lock screen

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 03:50 PM PDT

I turned on my phone and I had that "You won an iPhone!" scam pop-up. I took a screenshot before showing it to my elder brother who told me if a scam had overrode my lock screen the it is a virus, not sure how true that is. I slid the 'X' option and my phone seemed fine, I promptly dug through my files, downloads.. apps but I wasn't overly sure what I was looking for. I ran Avira and nothing was detected, I then ran Smart Manager and again, nothing was detected. My friend told me to download Malwarebytes and nothing was detected with that either. I haven't downloaded anything recently, all my apps I do have are all largely known such as Discord, Snapchat, Duolingo...

Shortly after my phone overheated, not sure why or if that is relevant at all. After googling, others seemed to have experienced this also and Peel Remote seems to be the cause- But I don't have that app and remember having an issue with it a while ago. Also read it could be a push add from an app? If that's true then I had downloaded WordBit, when you turn on your phone the app pops up- but this quickly got annoying and so I deleted it a few weeks ago. There was never any adds on that app either.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6. If anyone could help that would be great, thank you.

https://imgur.com/cLoVVQk Not sure if that Image worked, I've never used imgur and am unsure how to use it.

How do I fix issues with notifications when in landscape?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 03:36 PM PDT

So sometimes when I'm in landscape mode my notifications are simplified and I can't see things such as Bluetooth or wifi. This doesn't happen all the time, but it's still super annoying because this doesn't happen with portrait mode.

Bluetooth 5.0 - Dual audio with ROM

    Posted: 17 Aug 2019 02:09 PM PDT

I've been reading up on connecting multiple speakers to my phone (Pixel 3a) via Bluetooth, and evidently it is possible with Bluetooth 5.0, but has to be implemented via software. AFAIK, the Samsung phones are the only ones able to do this right now. My question is, is there a rom I can flash or an app that will add this capability to my Pixel? Thanks!
