Samsung Internet opening to random spam sites Posted: 07 Aug 2019 05:47 PM PDT Over the passed few weeks I've had random blog style websites (getfitnessinfo, thisdaythatage, some paWhat ge about the history of uber) opening themselves in the default Samsung Internet Browser. It mostly happens upon unlocking my phone (galaxy s6) but has also happened once while I was using it. I have cleared all data on the browser app, uninstalled all mildly questionable apps (I hadn't downloaded any apps around the time this began), cleared the cache of my phone in safe mode, installed a custom firefox (that is meant to intercept spam sites and print a log file that shows what app is causing it) and set it as my default browser (samsung internet continues to open anyway with the sites), ran multiple antivirus apps (norton, avast, kaspersky, malwarebytes, ccleaner) and none have turned up anything. I've even gone through my files and deleted any data/app/sdk files I don't recognize or that seem suspect. While the websites being opened do not seem malicious in nature, this has become very annoying both with the spam itself and the fact knowing something is buggering my phone. I have searched and tried multpile solutions to similar problems to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on? [link] [comments] |
Is there a way I can freely place apps in the app drawer? Posted: 07 Aug 2019 02:16 PM PDT I find it annoying that all my apps are automatically sorted left to right, from the top left in the app drawer. I have very few icons in my app drawer since I have everything sorted into folders which means all my apps are in the top 2.5 rows. I'd rather have them either at the bottom or along the right edge. Is there a way I can freely place my folder wherever I want in the app drawer, like on the home screen? Preferably without installing a new launcher since I really like the Samsung default one. I know there are ways to do it on iOS but none of them work for android. Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 9 [link] [comments] |

Does my phone battery last longer if i use 5voltage charging vs 20voltage fast charging? Posted: 07 Aug 2019 09:21 AM PDT So by using 5v charging i am getting half an hour increase in on screen time is it normal like faster you charge faster you discharge? [link] [comments] |
How does one see contact GROUPS on Android? Posted: 07 Aug 2019 05:02 PM PDT I can't for the life of me figure out how to see GROUPS in my Android Contacts. I have the default app (Rolodex-like icon) which I think doesn't bother with Groups for some reason), and I have the separate downloadable Contacts app from Android/Google (round, Material Design icon), which used to show groups in a slide-out tray from the left but does not anymore. I figure I must be missing something, because I can't imagine how anyone gets along without Groups in their contacts app. But then again, Android has always made it impossible to have contacts show the business name rather than the person's name, so maybe I'm not missing something. Maybe someone can recommend a contacts app that actually has these obvious, bare-minimum features? [link] [comments] |

Why does my phone think WEBMs are JPGs? Posted: 07 Aug 2019 09:37 PM PDT I have a Moto G5S Plus and I was trying to send someone a WEBM through Messages. When I sent it I noticed it was just a still image of the first frame, and my Files app says, even though it was automatically sorted under Movies, that it's a JPG. Any ideas on what I can do? How to disable immersive mode only when the keyboard launches Posted: 07 Aug 2019 09:26 PM PDT I have had problems with immersive mode causing the keyboard to draw overtop of text input fields. The solution I want to implement is to use an automated app to disable immersive mode when the keyboard is launched and enable immersive mode when the keyboard is minimized. I came across this resource but I'm having trouble implementing it. I believe it's moreso for code development in-app than it is an intent command that I can send after a trigger. Anyone have experience with this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Aug 2019 05:33 PM PDT My samsung j5 pro wont turn on. When i press the on button the screen flickers slightly and then goes black again. I've tried holding down the power button and the volume down button but the phone vibrated and the screen flickered and that was it. help would be appreciated [link] [comments] |
Make the initial setup reappear? Posted: 07 Aug 2019 05:18 PM PDT A while ago I found online a method where you could remove a system file and it would make the initial setup screens appear on the next reboot same as when you first took it out of the box. To be clear, I'm not talking about an actual factory reset, because your apps and Preference settings all remain. It just thinks it needs to run those setup screens once this particular file is gone. I have done it at least once but I'm googling to try to find it again and all the results are pertaining to doing an actual factory reset. Anyone know what file it is? [link] [comments] |
Weird Annoying Beeping Noises That Randomly Happens Posted: 07 Aug 2019 08:49 PM PDT This just started today and for the life of me cannot find the actual answer, and I would LOVE IT if I don't do a factory reset as I don't want to redo a lot of things on my phone already. I also know it's not an NFC reading problem because my device does not have it (or at the very least does not list it) on my phone. The sound itself is a soft-like "bee-doop" sound. It's not notifications as not only do I have that muted but no new notification ever pops up when it goes off. I don't know the model, device I have but I do know it's a tracphone that uses Android OS. As for any apps I've installed recently as I know it's possible some apps can cause their own noises to go off, there's only two new apps I've downloaded within the month, one is MyRadar and the other is... um... a game... I like to withhold from saying the name. However I also deleted the game as I got bored with it and between MyRadar and the game, the game was the most recent app to be downloaded at all. Posted: 07 Aug 2019 08:26 PM PDT Someone please help me. It's fucking brutal listening to my friend serenade me, off key while drunk. I need to find it, and delete it... [link] [comments] |
Galaxy s9 how do I make my wallpaper swipe with me? Posted: 07 Aug 2019 08:16 PM PDT Okay I swear I used to be able to see my background "move with me" when I would swipe between app screens and now it's just a static photo. Does this make sense? How do I make this happen again? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Aug 2019 04:18 PM PDT So I'm just starting on kwgt and have a music widget, but most of the time when I hit the Play/pause button, it jsut opens the widget editor, how can I stop this? It's really annoying [link] [comments] |
Strange Problem with my LG V20 Posted: 07 Aug 2019 04:15 PM PDT I don't know if this is the appropriate sub-reddit to write this on, but it seemed like the most appropriate of the sub-reddits I have found. Let me know if there is a more appropriate location. Starting last night, I could not text my fiance and his number appears to be the only one affected. However, I can successfully call him, and he can call and text me. When I try to send a text to him, the text just completely disappears after I hit send. It doesn't turn into a little chat bubble telling me it has failed to send. It's just gone. I have personally deleted and re-added him as a contact and restarted my phone. I also took it to the Sprint store (my carrier) and the guy did a bunch of things with no success. I am currently on the phone with sprint support, which has gone no where in the last hour. Does anyone here have any ideas? Seen this before? Anything? [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to hide the most used apps in the recent menu? (Image attached) Posted: 07 Aug 2019 04:00 PM PDT See here. I find them a bit distracting when there's games and the like when I'm at work, so I'd love there to be nothing there... thanks! [link] [comments] |
Some notifications transparent? Posted: 07 Aug 2019 01:34 PM PDT I'm on an S8+ running Android 9. I have the transparency for my notifications on the lowest setting, but about a week ago notifications for some apps are normal (e.g. Twitter) while others are coming in about midway transparent (e.g. Google alerts). I checked the setting and it's still low like it's supposed to be. I tried going into the settings for the apps themselves, but didn't find anything there that would cause this. Any ideas? Just a note: I do have Notistar downloaded through Good Lock, but it isn't on and there isn't anything in there that would mess with or change the transparency of the notifications. Posted: 07 Aug 2019 07:20 AM PDT I'm looking to get a new phone, coming from a Samsung Galaxy s8. I would love to have a wide-angle camera lens and decent looks. Battery life isn't a huge concern for me, I generally don't mind charging at night or at work. I would like a 1080p screen at least and a teardrop is the biggest notch I'm comfortable with. A fingerprint reader is pretty essential too. I think I can stretch as far as €500 but that's the most I can afford at the moment. I've been looking at the Samsung A line of phones as well as the K20. [link] [comments] |
4G LTE connected, but randomly has no internet [OnePlus 7 Pro] Posted: 07 Aug 2019 07:08 PM PDT Hey guys, I've been scratching my head at this issue for a couple weeks now. I have a OnePlus 7 Pro with a Straight Talk unlimited plan (no data limit, and I'm nowhere near the 60GB ceiling where they review account usage), and I keep randomly losing connection to the internet while on data, and WiFi is unfortunately not an option for me. The LTE icon in the top right of the screen will show a continous pattern of data being sent, sent and received, and finally received. This pattern will continue at the same rhythm of about half a second per change in activity until my internet randomly decides to work again. Shutting Mobile Data off and back on again will result in the same pattern, but with '!' displayed on the right side of the cellular strength icon. Connected, but no internet. Using ##4636## and setting connection to LTE only doesn't fix this problem. Running ping tests during the issue shows 'Unknown' on IPV4, 6, and HTTP tests until eventually failing (sometimes getting an IOException on the HTTP test). Sometimes toggling the mobile radio from within these options fixes the problem temporarily, sometimes it doesn't. I'm at my wit's end, and having my connection magically disappear is getting extremely frustrating. Any ideas on what I should do next? EDIT: My SIM receives signal from AT&T towers, and has been working flawlessly until the past couple of weeks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Aug 2019 06:58 PM PDT Okay, I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note9 (SM-N960F, Exynos variant) running a official version of Android 9.0 (Pie). I can use it just fine, but when I wipe my data using TWRP, I have no more bars. I can use my mobile data just fine, but I cannot make and receive phone calls and I cannot make a receive text messages. It was working fine yesterday and the day before that, but not anymore today. Any and all help would be awesome! Thank you in advanced! Red Prez [link] [comments] |
