Is there a method to adjust touch, hold or swipe sensitivity? Posted: 27 Aug 2019 04:35 PM PDT So many times I want to press on something, only for it to be registered as a (miniscule) swipe, or I need to press and hold on something, and it registers the TINIEST movements, canceling the hold. It's very frustrating. I just need to adjust the minimum distance needed before a swipe is initiated. Because swiping is a fairly large action. And the press-and-hold needs to cancel out the tiny movements, like if your finger rolls just a hair. [link] [comments] |
Lock Screen Notification: Details Posted: 27 Aug 2019 08:01 PM PDT I'm running Android 9 on a Galaxy S10 and noticed recently that some of my notifications were showing details for applications I remember setting to hide content in the past. I been searching for the option to hide content for specific applications on the lock screen (like Whatsapp) and show for others (like a news app). I'm starting to think I'm misremembering. Tl;Dr: Did they remove the option to customize lock screen notifications from Pie or was it never an option and I'm crazy? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Aug 2019 04:19 PM PDT I have been buying Moto 5g's from Prime. Since they stopped putting ads on lock screen the deals are not as good. I need a good Android phone that gets good battery life, a decent camera and sturdy construction. Where can I buy it with a warranty and what would you recommend I buy [link] [comments] |
Verizon Samsung Note 8 not receiving any notifications except Calls and Texts. Posted: 27 Aug 2019 04:48 PM PDT Troubleshooting steps i've done: Restart clear badge id info Make sure power saver is not turned on. make sure notifications are on in each app. Exempted apps from background data restrictions. What would be tbe best stock Android phone atm that isn't too expensive? Posted: 27 Aug 2019 08:07 AM PDT *the I'm talking perhaps < €400,-. I'm on a Xiaomi Mi Max 2 atm, so a good battery life would be amazing as well! It doesn't have to be as big however. [link] [comments] |
Crazy or not?: 32gb is not enough space for modern smartphones Posted: 27 Aug 2019 09:52 AM PDT I have a Galaxy S7 with 32gb storage and an extra 128 gb micro SD card. I'm currently using 18gb of the SD card and 30.7 gb device storage. It seems like I'm in a constant losing battle to maintain space. I already have all my photos and videos and every single possible app on the SD card. I have a bare minimum number of apps and run CCleaner multiple times a day. No audio, video, images, or documents on the device storage. The problem is the apps. All apps, system, bloatware, or other are around 20gb of space.
So am I crazy for thinking 32gb is just not enough for modern smartphones anymore? I love this phone and it's the best one I've owned but... It's only a matter of time before I'm forced to either change phones or have almost no apps. Just want to see what others have experienced. It's really frustrating. If not for this I see this phone easily lasting another 2 years [link] [comments] |

Do Samsung SoCs affect Update Lifespan? Posted: 27 Aug 2019 10:31 PM PDT I live in an Exynos region and I'm planning to get a Note 10+ soon. But hearing the performance differences, I'm also considering to just get a Snapdragon variant since it's not that big a price difference to get it shipped here. But updates are still an important thing to me, so I just want to know if there's any difference in how these phones receive updates. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Aug 2019 03:46 PM PDT Last Wednesday, i woke up to my power button on my moto x4 being broken. However, my phone was still usable with the fingerprint sensor. Today, though, my phone froze. I am unable to resuscitate it, as my power button is broken. Does anyone know a fix? Or am I SOL? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Aug 2019 08:52 PM PDT How can old Android boxes be repurposed for media in 2019? I come to close to tossing my two mygica atv 520e boxes because they simply cannot run any app anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Samsung S8 SMS message duplications Posted: 27 Aug 2019 08:51 PM PDT So it seems sometime over the last few months, a random number of SMS message threads, and the individual messages inside the threads have been duplicated growing my whole message dB over 1gb, and I am wondering if anyone here could recommend a tool to clean up this mess? So I am running the latest updates on a non-modified S8+ and looking to migrate to IOS and was hoping to take my messages with me, but it seems that I have a huge mess of messages that I need to sort out. Does anyone know a good tool to manage messages, and as a hopeful bonus, can anyone recommend a migration tool to get back to IOS? The Move to IOS app moves the messages to my iPhone but they are all dated from when the phone reboots. [link] [comments] |
How to smoothly switch to Android from iOS? Posted: 27 Aug 2019 08:32 PM PDT Hi guys, so I currently have an iPhone XR and will be upgrading in a few months. My main email is an iCloud account, I have Apple Music, AirPods, and use a MacBook for schoolwork. I want to upgrade to either a Samsung Galaxy or a Google Pixel. What are a few steps you guys would take if you were me to have a smooth transition into Android. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments] |
Help regarding installation of magisk on Symphony i97 Posted: 27 Aug 2019 08:28 PM PDT So after searching for like hundreds of websites I managed to find the stock firmware of the phone. So I used SPD research tool to get the boot.img file. It was 35,840 KB. After I used magisk to patch it, it became 17,228 KB. So I transferred the file to the computer and used SPD research tool to install it. But it ends up as a failure. I also tried using adb sideload to install it. But it also failed saying footer doesnt match. In the end I tried to unpack the boot.img folder. Used bootimg.exe(found it on google) to unpack it. But in the end it says IOError: invalid ramdisk. But the boot.img file does flash on my phone. And my phone works just fine. Note: [link] [comments] |
Sd card possible corruption? What should I do? Posted: 27 Aug 2019 08:05 PM PDT I was transferring 8.10 gigs of music to my 128 gig sd card from my pc and i had 8.3 gigs of free space left. 80% through the 15 minute transfer it slows to a crawl my pc says it will be 1 hour 30 minutes for the rest I cancel the transfer look at my Huawei honor 8 and it says something like sd card error or corrupt something of that sort I don't recall exactly. I was not transferring with Huawei's Hisuite app. I connect my phone to my pc again the music is still there i attempt to transfer the rest but it doesn't let me. I try to delete it but it won't let me. I try again it doesn't let me but it says it deleted it anyways. I unplug my phone the music is still there but it is very slow to react and corrupt the few songs I tried will skip a few seconds or more forward. I then delete the music with my phone it takes 2 tries. The music is actually gone. My sd card says there is 15 gigs free now. I eject and mount my sd card this took a long time and it says there is 8.3 gigs free again. Now all my music I already had, my photos, and my storage option in the system setting barely works at all takes a while for anything sd related to load. It can play my old music but only for a 2-3 seconds at a time then stalls for 4-10 seconds plays a few seconds and repeats this. I restarted my phone a few times. No change. One restart was more like a crash. It stayed on the restart screen for a few minutes then started up immediately. Very odd stuff. How should I proceed? My sd card just has a few hundred photos and the 110ish gigs of music is all still on my pc. I assume I should just transfer my photos to my pc and format my sd card but I wanted to know if there was anything else i should do instead? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Aug 2019 01:11 PM PDT I was looking around my file manager app because I was bored, and found a video called Good-Job.mp4 in a folder named . Chartboost. I googled and I'm not the only one that has had this file pop up. I deleted it but it keeps coming back. The video is a man with a mowhawk just shaking his head no. [link] [comments] |
With the Pixel 3 on sale, is it worth getting over the 3a? Posted: 27 Aug 2019 07:05 PM PDT I'm trying to figure out which is best for me, my Pixel 1 is slowly dying. I'm torn on the Pixel 3a or 3 since the 3 is $300 off. I have Google Fi and need the ability to switch between T-Mo and Sprint, so I don't have many options on phones Anyone have an opinion on either? Is it worth it to go with the 3 for just $100 more? If it helps, I take a lot of photos, but mostly just use Reddit, random apps, etc. [link] [comments] |
*Looking for suggestions Best phone for under $700 with certain requirements Posted: 27 Aug 2019 01:05 PM PDT Looking to upgrade from my ancient but still chugging along Galaxy S5. I really liked that phone, and would ideally like to keep some of its more useful features. The display and camera are not my highest concern, and I don't do any real gaming. I don't need a high end model, but I don't want a sluggish phone. I also have no problem with buying last years model. I value a good build over most features. My must haves:
Would ideally have:
Would make me very happy if it had (but I know very unlikely)
I am leaning to the Samsung Galaxy S9 as of right now. Anyone have a better suggestion? [link] [comments] |

[New to android] In MIUI, how do you call the left-most screen and can you customize it? Posted: 27 Aug 2019 12:51 PM PDT I got my first android phone (Redmi note 7) a few days ago and I am still customizing it. I wanted to know if I could customize the left-most screen (the one where you can't put apps and widgets). If I can, what are the best apps to do it? [link] [comments] |
Whatsapp microphone not working Posted: 27 Aug 2019 12:40 PM PDT Hi, I've run into this weird problem that only occurs in Whatsapp calls and neither deleting whatsapp data and cache nor totally reinstalling the app fixed it! the microphone works perfectly in "normal" phone calls but no one can hear me in whatsapp calls (or sometimes there is so much static and cuts in the voice. Device is Samsung express 2, android 4.4.2 [link] [comments] |

In the market for a new phone. Posted: 27 Aug 2019 12:04 PM PDT I currently have a blackberry that's almost five years old and it's getting close to needing a replacement. I haven't had an android phone in about 8 years, so I'm not really sure what's on the market right now, but I have some very specific features I want. Deal Breakers (I will not buy any phone that doesn't have all of these)
Other Features I Want (Not necessarily deal breakers, but the more of these a phone has the better)
I'd like to keep the cost below $250 if possible. I don't need anything very powerful. i just want a basic modern phone with all the features I actually want, which seem increasingly rare these days. The Blackberry Priv looks promising, but it dosn't quite hit all the notes I'd like, and I'm curious what else is out there. Edit: the F(x)tec Pro1definalty looks like the best option. Hopefully they release a version with cut down specs, otherwise I know what I'm buying in a year and a half. [link] [comments] |
Custom ROM data restore question Posted: 27 Aug 2019 05:19 PM PDT I have a Note 8 and I was thinking of rooting it in the future once the updates stop. If I root it and chuck on a custom ROM, can I restore a backup of some sort with all my apps and their data or not? Also, any ROM recommendations would be appreciated Thanks [link] [comments] |
