It would be good if he wouldn't need to press any buttons, and if I could remotely control the tablet. I have a tablet with Android 6 that I could use. | Posted: 03 Aug 2019 07:50 PM PDT I have a Digiland DL7006 tablet I bought for a project a while back that never materialized. I turned it on, set it up, left it alone. My router was displeased. It blocked and kept track of repeated attempts to connect to some Chinese server. I isolated it, ran a scan, found nothing, so I looked at who it was trying to contact. Long story short, Best Buy sold me an adup-infected tablet! Hurray! I was able to disable and remove the malware, but it's still in the recovery partition, so I'm trying to rip it out completely. I was able to unlock the bootloader. To get root, I needed a scatter file. I couldn't find one online, but I found some that were pretty close. Nothing I threw at this thing could get that data, so I went to ADB, copied over /proc/dumchar_info, and figured I could modify a similar scatter file into one that accurately described this tablet. But if i didn't work, I risk bricking the tablet. So i tried one last thing before resorting to my ghetto-rigged scatter file. I tried making a dump of the entire rom with SP phone flash tool's readback function. It told me to reboot the tablet while still connected so it could enter meta mode. I restarted it, and while the screen was still dark, SP Phone Flash tool threw an error. I don't remember what it was, but the gist of it was that the scatter file I gave it to shut it up didn't match the device. It's not supposed to. It's also not relevant for dumping from specified addresses. Now, I can't get it to boot. No response from fastboot, adb, SP phone flash tool, MTK Droid & Root Tools, miracle box, anything. The only way I know it's still awake is that disconnecting and reconnecting shows it in the windows Device Manager as "MediaTek DA USB VCOM (Android) (COM4)". So it's not completely dead, just injured. I cannot figure out how to open it without damaging it. There is a large gap between the display and the glass, so I think the digitizer on this tablet is a separate part from the display, and prying it open could destroy that. So I can't get in and pull the battery. Holding power buttons, volume buttons, and incantations does not work either. How do I get it out of meta mode? EDIT: There's a reset button. press it. | Posted: 03 Aug 2019 08:43 PM PDT Recently upgraded from a Moto e4+ to a Pixel 3a XL. Both devices factory unlocked, swapped my Verizon sim card to my new phone. Signed into my Google account, verified that location services are on, and that timeline history is recorded. Switched my old phone off, traveled across the US and worked for a week, then realized I don't have any timeline data saved. It says "no visits" when I access it. I used the GPS for 20+ unique driving trips, and my photos have location tags. Both were accurate. 1) How do I get this phone to record location data? I've tried disable/ enable location data, and confirmed that the maps app has access, and multiple restarts. 2) Is there a way to recover the missing location data? I'm a contracted technician, and we provide our location data in the event of a billing dispute, and this customer always disputes bills. Question 2 is far more important for me at the moment. I don't know if it's kosher to offer rewards here, but I'll donate $50 to the preferred charity of anyone who provides a solution for #2, and post proof. [link] [comments]  |

| Zte keeps crashing after factory reset Posted: 03 Aug 2019 07:56 PM PDT I have a lot of issues with my year old ZTE Zmax Blade from MetroPCS from performance to functionality. My phone will crash while a call is coming through, on Instagram, on Reddit, on Facebook, and doing nothing. I cannot click anything on the screen, then my phone restarts and deletes my wallpaper. I finally did a factory reset for the first time in a few months, but it is still crashing. I don't have the funds for a new phone but I am looking to become an Uber driver so I need a reliable and working phone. Is there any way to fix this or do these MetroPCS phones only last a year? Every time I take a screenshot, the new picture is much darker than the actual image I was screenshotting. I take screenshots relatively often, so I know this is a new issue for me. | LG G8 Battery Permanently Glued Posted: 03 Aug 2019 09:33 PM PDT I just got the G8 a few days ago replacing my G4. The phone is great for the most part and the headphone jack and expandable memory are so good to have. I'm under the impression that there's no way to remove the batteries from these phones and so I'm stuck with the original battery. I've replaced the battery on my G4 several times and it's extremely convenient. I know at this point you have to take extra measures to replace most phone batteries but that's OK with me. Is it worth getting Verizon insurance for $15 a month to get a new phone and thus fresh battery in a couple years? If being able to replace the battery is important to me then should I see if replacing the G8 I got a few days ago with the V40 is an option since they're very similar? | Snapchat videos send out of order Posted: 03 Aug 2019 05:04 PM PDT Galaxy S7, Cell carrier is Bell. I've tried googling and have found nothing to help so far. Whenever I take a snapchat video longer than 10 seconds (creating a set of videos instead of one long video) they will send out of order. My friends have noted that they'll watch the last segment of the video and then the first or some other weird order. I'm not sure what's causing this. I've tried updating my phone, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and trying to make sure I didn't have any weird settings on snapchat that could enable this. Is anyone else experiencing this? I have a Moto X4 that's been great, but over the past couple Android version updates, it's slowed down (even with me restoring it, not using custom stuff like icon packs or launchers, keeping the photos off of it by backing up and erasing them). I wanted to know, if I decided to splurge and upgrade to something like the Pixel (waiting to see the Pixel 4), how long is something like that going to last me? I would like to see 75/90/120 at 1080p or 720p@144fps maybe iPad pro with the a12x could record 1080p@120 if was in an iPhone what would you like to see for the future of video features in a camera? I do not want to download this app using my own account under my email as the rating is not convincing and pretty disappointing but interestingly the app was suggest by a student financial support company, which was heavily sponsored by a well known bank company, to help with financial needs for students. Another reason is really considering trying mobile gaming apps in the VM. I did search a bit on best mobile gaming VM but to be honest I don't know much of them or whatever their features mean to me. | Constant voicemail notification? Posted: 03 Aug 2019 02:22 PM PDT I have a Galaxy S10+. For about a week now I get a notification that I have a new voicemail. Its from the phone app. If I press it it calls the voicemail. I have T-mobile and use the visual voicemail app instead. The notification always says the voicemail is from the same number. I googled it and some recent article said to clear the cache and data of the phone app but that doesn't do anything. Anyone else have this happen? | Posted: 03 Aug 2019 12:46 PM PDT I tried to create a backup directly to my laptop using adb but it ended up starting the backup process on my phone, which doesn't even have enough space to store it. First of all, I can't even cancel it (or there's an adb command for it that I don't know), how do I cancel this? And second of all, how do I correctly backup partitions directly on my laptop. | Posted: 03 Aug 2019 05:06 AM PDT My Nexus 7 2013's which I used to use as utility tablets left my service a long time ago, but I really miss them. I know people love to go on about how Android apps aren't optimised for tablets, and while that may be the case with a 10+ inch device I found that the Nexus did everything I needed out of it. Currently I use iPad Minis at home as I have home automation and they're basically used as glorified remotes - and I'm in the process of upgrading all two-dozen-plus of them to the 5. I've also bought extras to serve as my small work tablets and while the experience isn't terrible, I feel like Android would be a far better fit for me. What I really want is a slightly narrower device than the iPad Mini (i.e. 16:10 or 3:2 instead of 4:3) running Android with the same kind of hardware. I realise this is probably a pipedream but I'm wondering if there's a stone I haven't turned over - probably made harder by obscure Chinese tablets being out, since these'll be used for work. I screen recorded it, truth be told it's not as bad as the recording shows, but instead makes everything a lot more bland as if they lower the saturation to 10%. To sum it up, if you have 100 GB of data to backup, it logically creates the same 100 GB temporary cache data before it finally transfers to my computer, which is annoying, because what if I dont have that sufficient cache to use. That is why today, I would like to get an opinion from you all if what is an alternative software that I can use (free or paid for only $20 limit one-time subscription) out there? Secondly, what is a tool or software that I can use (free or paid for only $20 limit one-time subscription) to recover my unreadable data (e.g. images and videos that I had from my LG G5 micro-SD)?
