A way to change OneDrive's storage location for OneDrive's contents? (MORE INFO IN DESCRIPTION BELOW)

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 08:13 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I'd like to have a local copy of my entire OneDrive folder on my PC. My OneDrive is just shy of 200gb. I have a 512gb SSD, but a 4tb HDD for storage / games / media / music. I'd like to ask if anyone here knows how to set the directory of which OneDrive would use to store the aforementioned 200gb or so of data. I know with Google Drive File Stream that you can set the desired location of which it stores data, however, I'm unsure if this holds true for OneDrive, also.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank-you all in advance!

[Discussion] In your opinion, which Windows Installer was the best?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 03:39 PM PDT

Might be a weird one. but I am asking since I personally hate the new Windows installers. In my opinion, the win XP and below installers were really good, as they were functional, no nonsense, and informative. The new win8, and win10 installers don't tell you what is going on and it bothers me. I don't want Cortana telling me that "Windows is getting ready", I would love it if it was like older installers and actually told you what was going on in the background. TBH its just an example of how Microsoft seems to be trying to childproof its OS. Also if the installer hangs or crashes, telling me what step it was on would help me troubleshoot. Thoughts?

Can't boot from USB after removing old boot option...

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 07:10 PM PDT

Long story short, it always worked until I started messing around with the boot options. I ended up deleting an old Linux grub bootloader, but now when I try to boot from USB it does nothing. This video shows what it does:

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

New build pc wont boot windows 10 usb iso

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 06:42 PM PDT

Hey so I just got done building my first dektop pc (long time Mac user) and everything works fine, ( access to bios, ram,cpu ssd) but whenever I select the usb flash drive with the Windows 10 iso to boot it just stays in a black screen. I tested the usb flash drive on another pc and it works just fine there. I might add that I created and downloaded the Windows 10 iso on my Mac. Might this be the problem?

    I appreciate any help!

We have 2 different clients with the exact issue. IBM xseries servers running Win 2008R2 x64. Both will boot to "getting windows ready" and then will loop in to the recovery options and error on any of the options.

Multiple Windows installs bricked by update

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 09:44 AM PDT

Computers/servers (two Win7 SP1, one 2012 R2, one 2016) have crapped out overnight, the servers were in our environment and the workstations were at an organization completely separate from mine.

We are assuming it is related to the very quickly released MSCTF patch that patched a decades-old exploit affecting all versions of windows since XP, because that seems to be the only way we would have all of these stuck in a failed update/startup repair bootloop overnight.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there any known fix other than completely blowing away the installation and rebuilding? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Something Has Gone Wrong With my PATHS

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 06:55 AM PDT

    Hi,

Wondering if somebody could advise wtf has happened here.

I use npm, node for developing with Gridsome and other packages. I also use VS Code.

The first issue I noticed was that VS Code would not start from the cmd line as it usually would with 'code .'

I resolved this by adding the location back to my PATH.

No I can't use anything installed with npm.. gridsome create ** fails. Gridsome develop on existing projects fails. I have checked the PATH for node and it is there....

I don't what the hell has changed since yesterday to make eveything go tits..

Where do I start to fix this?

    Thanks,

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 05:14 PM PDT

My computer has been warning me about my harddrive being full for about a week or so. Instead of uninstalling anything I just checked in my external so I could go back and uninstall some stuff later. Unfortunately my PC crashed today and it won't boot. Can do a full or partial reset either because I don't have enough space. Do I have any options??

    I can't remove update 1903

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 04:44 PM PDT

Ever since update 1903 my fans are on full blast and my CPU is at 90c even at 5-10% usage. I want to remove it but everytime I roll back to the 11th of this month (update was on 14th) it says that everything was successful, but when I reboot the About section says I am currently on update 1903. I've tried removing feature update and quality update but that doesn't work. Do I need to reinstall windows and start over?

Windows 7 PC Can't Come out of Hibernation

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 12:50 PM PDT

Whenever I attempt to come out of hibernation on my Windows 7 Desktop I get

"Your computer can't come out of hibernation"

    The error message is "0xc000000d".

Only thing I can do is do a fresh restart to get back into Windows.

I've searched a lot and can't find what to do to fix this. I've tried disable / re-enable hibernation but it doesn't make a difference.

    System specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7 7800X (stock speed)

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X299-E Gaming

    BIOS: 1704 (latest)

    Memory: 2x 16GB DDR 2133 MHz

Graphics: Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti (stock clock settings)

Storage: Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB w/ latest firmware (4B6QCXP7) and latest Samsung NVMe Win 7 drivers

    USB Mouse and Keyboard

OS: Windows 7 SP 1 with all updates

Bitlocker enabled via TPM & pin

Anyone have any ideas on what to try?

    Thanks!

    Office is gone

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 04:07 PM PDT

My Win10 Thinkpad just updated. Now MS Office is gone. It's asking me for a product key to re-install. I don't have a product key, Office came pre-loaded on the machine. If I got a product key it was years ago when I got the machine, and it's gone.

Am I fucked? Just have to resort to OO or something?

And all this after Office got me to enter all my data, thinking I just had to register to re-install Office.

This sucks. Anyone know a usable Linux install you don't have to fuck with all the time?

Computer wakes up on its own after creating a scheduled task

Computer wakes up on its own after creating a scheduled task

Last weekend, as part of a hack project, I created a scheduled task. Overall it works really well. However, ever since I've had problems with my computer waking up after I've put it to sleep!

I have to assume that the scheduled task is the thing doing it, though I'm not sure how to prove that. The weird thing is that as far as I can tell, waking up to run the task is explicitly disabled:

    https://i.redd.it/doexyitt0pg31.png

Here's the scheduling tab, in case that contains clues:

    https://i.redd.it/s1uc57yz0pg31.png

So yeah, I'm super confused. Any ideas? Information on how to figure out what's waking up my computer or anything I'm missing in these settings would be super helpful.

    Thanks!
