    Xiaomi Xiaomi Redmi Note 7

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 7

    Posted: 01 May 2019 03:24 PM PDT

Well I've had smartphones since 2009, starting with an iPhone 3G which I loved (I had an iPod Touch which I bought as a result of seeing a boss demonstrate one and it was like Star Trek technology zooming in and out with your fingers) but the iPhone 4 was ridiculously expensive and I saw a colleague's Samsung Galaxy S and the screen was huge and so gorgeous. After that I've been a Samsung fanboi with a brief flirtation with Nexus 5 in 2013. Well my pride and joy Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was stolen 2 weeks ago and I pondered on the wisdom of carrying an object worth over a £1000 in my pocket. Colleagues of mine have Redmi Note 4's and swear by them. I've been very impressed with my Xiaomi Mi Band 3 and so I took the plunge. I just received my Redmi Note 7 this evening and I have to say I'm totally impressed. Superb hardware. It came with its own case, which was a thoughtful touch. I'm so completely impressed with it. Fantastic phone and an absolute bargain. Oh and the lack of bloatware and lightweight Xiaomi customisations of Android are such a breath of fresh air compared to the heavy handed and very pervasive Samsung bloatware and customisation.

Display problems with Xiaomi mi 8

I'm planning on getting a Mi 9. Any "First time setup" things I should know about?

    Posted: 01 May 2019 09:22 PM PDT

Hi! I am looking to purchase a Mi 9 in the near future and I am looking forward to it quite a bit. However, I am aware that all android phones have their issues and quirks, so I ask this question: are there are fixes/settings you would recommend I change in order to fix any potential issues or annoyances with the phone when I get it? Anything I should be aware of so I can be prepared if something goes awry? Any tips about the phone itself?

I realy want to buy a MI9 SE. Tell me a reason not to

    Posted: 01 May 2019 07:09 AM PDT

I use my phone mostly for work, social media and light gaming (i dont play pubg etc). The most important aspect for me is a good camera. Also my phone atm is an iPhone 6s. Is the mi9se the best choice i have for this money?

Have you used a bluetooth keyboard with a Xiaomi phone? Mi 9?

    Posted: 01 May 2019 08:14 PM PDT

I'm looking at buying my first Xiaomi phone, the Mi 9. My one question: Have you tried using a bluetooth keyboard with the Mi 9 or a similar Xiaomi phone? I know it _should_ work, but I'd like confirmation of whether it _does_ work.

I make good use of my Logitech k810 bluetooth keyboard with my Nexus 6P and previously with a Galaxy Note 2, and never had a serious problem. But then I had a cheap Lenovo tablet (A10-70) which absolutely refused to detect my keyboard, and Lenovo support had no idea about it, so now I'm extra cautious before buying a new device.

    Thanks!

Can my Pocophone F1 be repaired?

    Posted: 01 May 2019 07:55 PM PDT

Hi I had a new Pocophone F1 that when I was walking I fell and hit the ground with.

The tempered glass protector and screen is cracked, this is what it looks like ... I can see old background and when moving the screen around I can see the wallpaper.

What do you advise should I just buy a new Pocophone ...can the screen be replaced? The issue is I am US based and most of the repair stores here do not carry any pocophone F1 screens to dona repair as they are all iPhone or Samsung.

Is there anywhere in NYC that can repair this?

    So close to perfect notifications

    Posted: 01 May 2019 03:21 AM PDT

My RN7 has been great so far and despite the initial notification problems I have it all just the way I want it. However WhatsApp is still being troublesome for me, I cannot get lock screen notifications for the life of me. I've got the settings right in WhatApp itself, it has autostart permission, I have the notification sorted in 'lock screen and password'. It's still not working? I'm on the latest MIUI too?

Just bought a Mi Box S, just curious, what are some things you wish you knew when you got yours that you later learned?

    Posted: 01 May 2019 11:14 AM PDT

For example, any settings that you wish you tweaked earlier? Do you use the default apps (like default YouTube app) with an ad blocker, or do you use an alternative?

Any suggestions on good IPTV programs you wish you knew, etc?

Is there a remote similar to the AppleTV remove, with the touchpad you can move through options quickly?

    Posted: 01 May 2019 02:58 PM PDT

Looking for something like that with a voice option. Worst case scenario i might settle for a wireless mouse with a mic, if that exists?

If I directly flash MIUI with the fastboot when I have a custom ROM installed (pixel experience) can that cause any issue? Should I clean the device before? Thanks in advance.

Hey there, is anybody else having problems with the lasted Spotify update on Miui Global 10.2? For me it's not possible anymore to touch the two bottom buttons in the play screen (cast to devices, queue) but in most other apps that area of the display works fine. I appreciate any advice or suggestions

Mi 9 or wait for OnePlus 7

    Posted: 01 May 2019 12:31 AM PDT

Using a Pixel 2 XL right now, and it's having some issues. Camera crashes, poor battery etc. I'm either gonna hold out for the Pixel 4, or save money and get a OP7 or Xiaomi Mi 9. Though what makes me wanna stick with Pixel is the camera.

I considered the S10 but being in the UK, I decided against it due having the Exynos chip.

OnePlus 7 - well the Pro - seems likes it's going to be flagship price, so £800 or so - I'd just wait for the Pixel 4 if that's going to be the case. The standard 7 seems just like it's going to be a slight upgrade to the 6T.

The Mi is like £400 from Spain.

Mi Scale and Mi Fit app

    Posted: 01 May 2019 10:38 AM PDT

Hey guys, I just got the Mi Scale 2 and I was wondering if I have to have the Mi Fit app opened in order to get the weight (and other) data synced with my phone? Or is it alright if I just have my Bluetooth enabled?

How to install Play Store on Xiaomi Mi 9?

    Posted: 01 May 2019 05:40 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I have recently bought a Mi 9 from Ali Express. It was shipped to me from China to where I live, Canada. However, there is no way that I could install the Google Play Store on it. I have tried installing the Play Store from APK Mirror and from the Chinese App Store of Xiaomi. I always end up with errors like, this version of Play Store is not compatible with your phone or in this version of Play Store, you cannot downgrade apps. Can someone help me with how I can install Play Store on this phone? I have bought this phone and it has been completely useless up to now.

    Thanks a bunch.
