Swollen phone battery, should I be worried about my phone's hardware afterwards? Posted: 13 May 2019 05:08 PM PDT I have a Galaxy S5. I realized today that my phone's battery was swelling, but in retrospect the issue has been going on for at least a couple weeks now. The bad battery didn't leak or explode, but it puffed up enough to bend the screen and cover. (Yes, I removed the old battery already, I'm using an old spare for now.) One of the edges of the screen had popped up, unglued? from the phone. The corners were still in the correct place but the middle of left edge of the screen was raised up about 2mm higher than it should have been, and the middle had felt puffed up as well. After taking out the bad battery the screen feels like it's back down where it should be. Do I need to be worried about the screen now, or any sort of internal damage from the battery putting pressure on things? Do I need to get that edge of the screen re-sealed somehow or will it be okay as-is? Is it safe to just pop in a new battery and pretend nothing happened? Thank you for any help :) [link] [comments] |
Best budget device with root that works on Verizon? Posted: 13 May 2019 07:00 PM PDT I'll try to keep this short because I have a tendency to go a bit overboard. I'm looking for a new device because I've had a number of issues with my current (Moto Z Force Droid) including a number of battery issues that basically ruin the phones usability. I usually only am able to get a new (used) device every few years because I'm broke and disabled, but this device is really giving me a good excuse to search for a new one. Here are some things I'm hoping for in a new phone:
I really like how powerful and tough my Moto Z Force is, but there are so many software problems and the bootloader is locked up tight. I don't mind at all buying used or refurb, the important thing is that the price is under $200, with a sweet spot of $100-120 because like I said, money is the number 1 constraint. I paid about $115 for this device refurbed in case anyone was wondering. Thanks guys I really appreciate the help :) Edit: also, in the meantime, does anyone know how I can stop losing game data to random restarts? I keep booting up games after a crash to find out that all my progress is gone :( how can I stop this without root? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 May 2019 04:09 PM PDT I started playing KOTOR on my s9+ and want to continue on my chromebook. I see no option to save on a cloud. Is it possible to do this? [link] [comments] |
Disable SHARE SUGGESTED PEOPLE Posted: 13 May 2019 08:05 AM PDT My first time using Andriod/Pixel3a. The SHARE SUGGESTED PEOPLE is terrifying; a miss-click/fat finger accident waiting to happen. Needs to be GONE, NOW. How to PERMANENTLY disable it?! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 May 2019 06:19 PM PDT Not exactly a custom rom, but I have a unlocked American Note 8 that I want to flash the AT&T ROM onto (for wifi calling). Its currently running the latest Pie update, but I can't seem to find the latest AT&T version, so I was wondering if I could use the AT&T oreo ROM instead. Would it cause any problems? Visual voicemail on Google store Pixel devices? Posted: 13 May 2019 10:34 PM PDT I'm interested in buying a Pixel 4 XL when it's released in October. My pixel 2 XL was an amazing device but suffered an untimely death a few months ago, and I've been using an iPhone 8 ever since. One of my favorite iPhone features is effortless visual voicemail, a feature I've had an issue with on all my Android devices so far. I had a Verizon Pixel 2 XL, though, so visual voicemail wasn't an issue. If I buy a Pixel through the Google Store and put it on Verizon will I be able to use visual voicemail? My main reasons for wanting to buy it through Google are 1) I had no warranties on my last one, and I want to be covered in the future. 2) I was unable to root my Verizon model, but Store bought models seem to have no issues, and I'd like to root my device Thanks! Access notification history Huawei p10 lite Posted: 13 May 2019 03:35 PM PDT Hi. Does anyone know how to access the notifications history on this phone please. I've tried the instructions at https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-recover-lost-notifications-on-android but don't have the option in settings. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
What does 'system/user data' mean when it comes to storage and how do I free more space? Posted: 13 May 2019 08:20 PM PDT I'm trying to get more space on my samsung galaxy tab A. I have 16GB in total and 12GB of it is said to be taken up by 'System/user data'. I have no idea what that means or how to free up more space from it because I only have 4GB after trying to make more room. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Use two android devices one as Webcam one to monitor? Posted: 13 May 2019 07:56 PM PDT I have a van and 3 dogs. Sometimes at night we will eat and leave the dogs in the van. Is there any way I could leave my wife's phone in the van and then remotely monitor the camera from my phone? [link] [comments] |

Where are they coming from? I have the Note 9. Wish I could put an image [link] [comments] |

Moto G7 Power battery percentage options? Posted: 13 May 2019 07:14 PM PDT I've had past Moto phones that have a proper display of battery percentage built in, but this model only has the percentage in the battery symbol in the right corner. (Which is quite tiny to read) I've checked developer options and don't see any way to change it without either rooting or just get an app to do it. What can I do to better display battery percentage on this phone? [link] [comments] |
[Outlook] Calender reminder at 15 minutes, 14 minutes, 13...and so forth. Posted: 13 May 2019 11:48 AM PDT Is there a way to turn off reminder notifications for calendar appointments each minute? Only way to stop it is to literally swipe the reminder on the lock screen. [link] [comments] |
How can I disable 'Lock instantly with power key' on android 9.0.1 Posted: 13 May 2019 02:45 AM PDT I have a huawei p10 and since a month or two I've been updated to 9.0.1 which just has been simply awful. My most recent struggle is disabling the automatic lock when the screen turns off, either by pressing the power key or by waiting x time until it does it itself. I do NOT want my device to instantly lock if the screen turns black. But I just cannot find any option on the phone to set a timer delay to lock when the screen turns black. Before the update I've had that option available no problem. What can I do? [link] [comments] |
Stop Google Now from Always Listening Posted: 13 May 2019 04:31 PM PDT Google now is definitely always listening on my pixel 2... I was listening to news radio on my way to work and now it's suggesting stuff from what I heard on the radio... If I turn off the mike, it says that a bunch of stuff will stop working - I'm assuming stuff like voice commands will no longer work... Is there any other way to stop Google from always listening to everything? [link] [comments] |
How do I make the stock dialer the default for making phone calls? Posted: 13 May 2019 08:17 AM PDT When I click on a phone number in Chrome, this is what I see. I checked my app settings and Phone (system) is the default phone app, but it's not showing as an option. [link] [comments] |
Beginnings of words vanishing while typing Posted: 13 May 2019 03:44 PM PDT Hi, I recently switched to a new Samsung galaxy J6 plus (android 8.1.0) and had a persistent issue where when typing randomly few of the letters will vanish (seems mostly beginning of words, 3 to 4 letters) while I continue typing and end up with autocorrect replacing words with the best thing it can think off which 100% is completely not what I wanted I'm using the default keyboard, tried changing the settings or adjust the way I type. Nothing seems to work long term including restarting the phone. I know it's not a "virus" or "someone totally hacking your system". I tried searching on google/duckduckgo but most of the results are irrelevant or posts from 2011 so I thought I would ask here. Has anyone experience the same issue and/or know the solution to it? My friend in another country can't send me SMS today Posted: 13 May 2019 02:22 PM PDT Does anyone know why I can't recieve SMS messages through phone from my friend in USA (I live in Sweden), but he can recieve messages from me? He could even call me, but he can't send me messages today even though he always have been able to send me messages before. I've tried having people in Sweden send me messages, and that works. But my friend's dad also tried sending me a message, and that didn't work either. Does anyone know what's up with that? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 13 May 2019 10:10 AM PDT I have 2 problems here. First, my navigation buttons aren't working (home button is fine). This has happened before, but has persisted for more than 1 week. I've tried restarting my phone and clearing cache, but to no avail. Secondly, I've tried to turn off screen overlay, but my settings won't let me. This has prevented me from using certain apps. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 May 2019 07:53 AM PDT I have a Nokia 6.1 plus with Android one. I'm wondering if I'm able to install the Android Q beta on it? If not then will I get the final version on release day or do I have to wait for Nokia to push it out? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
