| Posted: 29 May 2019 06:26 PM PDT So yesterday, I was playing call of duty on the xbox and some kid invited me to an xbox live party and hit me offline with some kind of bot net. I've reset my router and my modem, but my internet is so slow that I can't complete a speed test. I keep getting a socket error. I have gigabit internet so speeds shouldn't be a problem and this all just started after the incident. Anybody know what to try next? [link] [comments]  |

| [STUMPED] Whole neighborhood has an ISP, except me! Posted: 30 May 2019 01:45 AM PDT Not sure if this is the right subreddit, and if it's not, please point me in the right direction. Basically, I moved in to a new home in a new gated neighborhood about 8 months ago. One of the first few things I took care of was finding out who had the best service in the area, and tried to sign up with them. After a neighborhood survey where I got to meet and greet my new neighbors, all of them said they had Xfinity with over 100mbps speed, with up to 1gbps for around $100 a month depending on the package. Cool. That sounds good to me. I call them up, and right off the bat they state that my address isn't showing in their system, but the neighbors addresses did show. I put in a request for them to add it to their systems and waited a couple weeks. So, I call them back with the ticket number and they inform me that their service is not available for my specifi address because the nearest port(?) is over 150 feet away. I explain to her that (after verifying with the building manager) all the ports are installed equally and identically among every house, and even sent a picture showing it less than 20 feet from the house, and nowhere close to 150 feet away. After back and fourth calls, escalating things, and had someone argue with me, they are adamant only MY house cannot receive their internet. No prior home owners, no prior ISP services there, and I've also never used Xfinity before either. One last call I plead to them to send out a crew to survey the property. They granted the request, but no one ever showed up. When I called back, I kept getting the same run around. Now I am stuck. Stuck with 20mbps internet through a local mom and pop kind of service, while everyone in my neighborhood (houses all build identical, 20 feet or so apart) enjoys solid internet speeds. I've seen someone on Reddit with a similar issue, but no updates since then. Anyone care to explain W T F the deal is, and how to remedy this? Moving isn't a option, as I purchased this home. Having shitty internet speeds for work and general use really fucking bites. Tl;dr - Neighbors all have Xfinity as their ISP, fast speeds. I am the only one who can't get them in my neighborhood. | Laptop running slow after getting back from repairs Posted: 30 May 2019 03:12 AM PDT I got my Lenovo Legion Y920 back after getting several repairs where the system board was replaced, WiFi Antenna cables fixed and a had a system reset. I've had this laptop to less than a year Everything else is now working fine except it now runs much slower than before. Programs such as games take much longer to load and run very choppily. Scans with Defender and Malwarebytes show nothing wrong, hardware scans show everything is fine, memory don't seem to to be strained rarely going above 50% and hard-drive has plenty of space. I've tried Ccleaner, clean boot with less startup programs, setting power options to high performance and did a Disk Cleanup which all had minimal help. Updating my Windows, Lenovo and Nvidia drivers and putting games on the SSD have actually sped things up a little. Things are still not quite as fast as they were before the repairs and I have no idea how fix this other than maybe a system re-image. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 29 May 2019 05:59 AM PDT I was attempting to build a hackintosh, to no avail. I used Paragon to create a new partition on my C drive, which is a Samsung M2 SSD. After doing this and playing with BIOS, I can no longer boot into windows. I can see the SSD in BIOS, but I can't see the windows OS there. Update: Used a boot USB to attempt to reinstall windows. Tried repairing, then tried formatting the disk and deleting all partitions using command prompt. I'm getting the following message: "Windows detected that the EFI system partition was formatted as NTFS. Format the EFI system partition as FAT32, and restart the installation." How do I fix? However, upon looking for the app store application, I found that it was no longer present at all on the device, which is strange, as the app store still shows up on my other iPad, which is the exact same model. Posted: 29 May 2019 02:54 PM PDT So a weird question, I started seeing a girl and her ex blocked my number in her phone, apparently by way of google account. https://imgur.com/BMqAkj0 There's a screen shot of our messages via snapchat so you all don't think I'm some kind of weirdo trying to dodge a block. But like it says in the message, I'm blocked but we look on the phone, it says it's fine, she checks with Verizon it says I'm fine and yet I can't get a call or text through. Any idea on how to fix the issue? Or if this isn't the right place, where should I go to look? I know some social media sites use contact lists to recommend people to follow so my question is will he be recommended my personal accounts that I've attached my number to because he technically has it in his contact list? (Unless he deleted it, which would be amazing, but I doubt it) I'm really anxious over this and kinda freaking out so if anyone could help calm my nerves I'd be really thankful. For some reason I've been experiencing frequent lag and disconnects, whilst friends of mine have no issues, even on same connection. My Laptop has had lag-issues in the past using VPN (again, friends had no issues). | Monitor keeps getting locked at the lowest resolution after computer goes to sleep Posted: 30 May 2019 04:00 AM PDT Strangely this only happens on some occasions. What happens is if i leave my computer for 10 minutes or so and it goes to sleep and i wake it up by moving the mouse or something, my main monitor stays at 1080p but my second one gets locked at 800*600 (originally it was at 1680*1050 i think). I have 1 fix that works, and it's to uninstall the monitor's drivers in device manager and then restart and it always fixes it. But doing this every time gets very boring any annoying. anyone know any fixes? [link] [comments]  |

I tried 3 ways to connect the ps4 to the monitor which were: a. Using 2) only; from ps4 HDMI port to monitor port (Didn't work) b. Using 4) from ps4 HDMI port to 5); then using 2) from HDMI switch to monitor port (Didn't work) c. Using 4) from ps4 HDMI port to 5); then using 3) and 1) from HDMI switch to monitor port (Didn't work) From all methods, the monitor only showed green LED blinking. Any solutions? Edit: formatting. | So I think I might have gotten sketchy adobe reader somehow Posted: 30 May 2019 03:53 AM PDT So I'm looking through programs and there's adobe readers DC I'm like what? apparently I installed it 15 days ago maybe it was something I had not noticed but anyway I don't adobe reader DC so I go uninstall first dodgy thing it's only 343mb haven't really heard about a program like that even adobe reader I hit uninstall this where things get weirder the uninstall windows just windows installation uninstalling I'm like of I guess takes a while I cancel it then I decide to try again now it's going but asks for the program to make modifications to my computer I'm like o sounds kind of reasonable maybe it just needs to do it's thing and it was traced by my computer to the actual company after that and a bit of waiting in and all traces of it disappeared so should I be worried? well anyway I've updated my antivirus and I'm running a full scan now any advice? Any help appreciated. I'm a tester, using a program called Cypress to set up automated testing suites. Currently when I try to open it via node.js command prompt I get an error stating a dependency is missing. According to the help page, I have to: "make sure your system has these dependencies installed" ... But I don't know what I am supposed to do with that line of text. It looks like I am supposed to enter that in the command prompt, but I don't know what commands etc I should add to it in order to get it to install the dependencies. I am asking here just in case anyone knows, because I don't think the answer is specific to the program I am using, rather than just the general use of node.js. I am not a "computer person" by any stretch of the imagination (still not sure how I got this job) so it is all a foreign language to me. I was using the 3dmark software (time spy) to get a good read of my cpus benchmark and i compared it to other peoples normal score and i noticed my cpu had a less score idk what is causing and if someone could help with anything it would be greatly appreciated. | Posted: 30 May 2019 03:45 AM PDT Relevant Hardware: GPU: 980ti Screens: 1x 3440x1440@120hz, 1x 1920x1080@60hz Note: I know for a fact that Netflix worked perfectly fine (1080p) on Chromium Edge on the 28th May. Not sure if Chrome had the stuttering issue before. I installed the 430.86 Nvidia driver between now and the last time it worked but a rollback to 430.64 (which was used when it worked) doesn't fix it. I guess it is not a super terrible issue at the moment because the Netflix app works and I believe Firefox can display Prime Video at full resolution but if I hadn't "played" Black Mirror Bandersnatch the day before the issue started it would really suck (doesn't support the Win10 app). I use the Chromium Edge Canary channel (daily) but the Dev channel (weekly) seems to have the black screen with audio issue as well. Any ideas what might've caused it? I already did the standard stuff like reboot, clear browser data, etc. Edit: I ran this: https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm Interestingly, this actually runs in Chromium Edge, however, it stutters just like with Chrome. Most of the people I work with are in NJ, and I'm in RI. I do a lot of uploading my film projects (some to private Youtube channels, some to my private servers). My speeds were fine, but I recently got a new Windows 10 PC built for me. Seems to be working great, but all of a sudden my upload speeds are atrocious. What used to take me 2.5 hours, might now take 9 hours. It absolutely is killing productivity at the moment because it's so hard to have people review files and exchange notes. My speed test on this PC comes up at 10.5 Mbps, but my upload speeds are actually around 350 Kbps on Filezilla. I'm hard-wired into a router. My laptop (on wifi) uploads at almost 2 Mbps on Filezilla, so clearly it's a problem with my PC. Other info: AVG Free is turned off. Firewall is turned off. Malwarebytes is turned off. | Posted: 30 May 2019 03:44 AM PDT Hello, I am going to start by stating that I have been an console gamer for my entire live up until buying a gaming PC about 9 months ago and i am noticing some issues. I am having big FPS spikes in pretty much every game that I have got for my PC and my friends who have worse PC's are not having these issues. When i first starting playing Witcher 3 i was maintainig a steady 60 FPS with some spikes on medium/high settings but now am unable to play on all medium settings. On mortal kombat X i can play on medium settings with no spikes or high settings with a few spies. On black ops 3 my computer cannot run on a steady FPS on even medium settings without spikes. Even games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 are having trouble to run on the highest settings without dropping FPS. The only game that seems that i have no problems with is rocket league which i can run on the higest settings with a steady FPS over 60 most of the time. My specs are below. AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight Core CPU (3.4GHz-3.8GHz/20MB CACHE/AM4) Gigabyte X470 AORUS Ultra Gaming: ATX, USB 3.1, SATA 6GBs - RGB Ready 16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3000MHz (2 x 8GB) 4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1050 Ti - DVI, HDMI, DP CORSAIR 350W VS SERIES™ VS-350 POWER SUPPLY Could it be that my PC is running to the best that it can but i have too high expextations or would you think that there is an underlying problem which is causing this FPS drop. My drivers are up to date using the Nvidia game ready program and i have looked at task manager when running games and nothing is taking up alot of my CPU usage. I went into settings and it says I don't even have anything plugged in. I checked the wire and all the connections. I thought to download the drivers but no internet. Then I thought download them on a different device then transfer through USB. | Stupid question regarding sound... Posted: 30 May 2019 03:19 AM PDT I have a HyperX headset (it has it's own mic and speaker jacks) and a set of Logitech speakers. I want to have both connected to my PC at the same time, so I can flick between the two within the sound options if I'm either gaming or watching a video. Now, I use to have them all connected together and it worked fine. This is because I have a separate speaker and mic port on the front of my PC. I want to reduce the amount of cables around my desk and want the headset in the back of the PC now with my speakers. The connections in the back of my PC are as follows: - SPDIF OUT (I don't have a connector for this type of port) - REAR - C/SUB - MIC - LINE OUT - LINE IN Mic obviously works for mic, but LINE OUT seems to be the only output source for sound. How can I have it so everything is in the back? I just have on board ports, no sound card. Mobo is Aorus Z390 Pro, Win 10. [link] [comments]  |
