Why is my phone using so much internal storage? Posted: 15 May 2019 06:38 PM PDT In the full breakdown, video, audio, images, and documents are 0kb, 4gb for apps....but the overall storage use is 24gb out of 32gb. Am I missing something? What's using all that memory is it just the phone itself? This leaves me very limited space for apps and videos. I have a 120gb SD that it wont allow me to format for internal use...but I just move all my photos over there because it's my only option or seems to free up space. Caches are clear...I'm just confused. Any advice? Galaxy S7 Active [link] [comments] |
How much storage does stock Android take up? Posted: 15 May 2019 09:18 PM PDT I'm thinking of getting the Pixel 3a, but 64 gigs seems too small. Does anyone how much of that is taken up by the OS? [link] [comments] |
I'm trying to make my android ask where i want to download images off google... Is this possible? Posted: 15 May 2019 06:45 PM PDT I have different albums for my photos, and I don't really want all my photos to go to one download album in my gallery. It doesn't even have to be off google, I could save an image from a text message and it all goes to the same download album or file. Is there anyway I can change this or at least get it to ask me where I want to put such files? [link] [comments] |
Bricked my phone with a package disabler, can it be saved in ADB? Posted: 15 May 2019 08:52 PM PDT I bricked my phone with a package disabler. I fully understand this is my fault. Is it possible to troubleshoot in ABD and undo whatever it is I screwed up there? There has to be a way to get back into my phone without completely wiping it... I have a T-Mobile model Note 8, the package disabler no longer exists on the Play Store but I purchased it with real money maybe 2 years ago. I suspect what I did wrong was turning off something related to Google, as I have been experimenting for over a year now with F-Droid alternatives (I've been wanting to switch to LineageOS but my device is not supported) and I was trying to run things without Google Play Services. Anyways I just want to know if I'm screwed or not. I really don't want to wipe my phone, especially since I have a good idea of what things I can re-enable to fix it, just not by memory. My phone won't get past the bright pink T-Mobile screen and heats up really hot. I definitely screwed up this time. After digging around reddit I found this thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS6/comments/3qtk9s/i_had_to_factory_reset_my_phone_cause_ultra_power/ I can confirm that I do in fact have com.sec.android.emergencylauncher disabled and that I went into ultra power save mode. I guess this must be what broke it. If I can re-enable this package I should theoretically be able to fix this, right? [link] [comments] |

Is it possible to edit out an 'object' from an app? Posted: 15 May 2019 10:04 PM PDT I'm not talking about this developer-wise, I want to remove a UI object from this app I just downloaded. Specifically I'm talking about the floating action button.
Is there a way to remove this via some apk editor? Or do I need to do something more advanced? [link] [comments] |
My phone thinks it's still in India, but it's not Posted: 15 May 2019 05:09 AM PDT I went to India about 6 months back, and I was really surprised that the currency icon had changed from a dollar sign to a rupee sign, and that numbers were being shown to me in Indian style (lakh, crore) instead of in the regular style (thousands, millions). It was really cool until I came back from vacation right after the new year saw that it didn't change back (images to show what I mean in case you're confused) I am using a Google Pixel 3xl on the Google Fi Network. In Google maps, it still shows my location as within the USA, and Google Fi even knows that I'm in the USA, yet it refuses to change the currency indicators and the number system. I need help to fix this. [link] [comments] |
Tablet for mom to use at nursing home? Posted: 15 May 2019 10:54 AM PDT My 77yearold mom was moved to skilled nursing a couple months ago. Mind works, body don't. Loves PBS and we watch Grace & Frankie In hospital I was able to USB Netflix and PBS app to her TV, but this place doesn't have good access to extra ports or wifi to cast Needs: US based LTE data, no long term contract. Ability to run PBS app (4.4 now, but prefer to future proof) and Netflix along with basics. Prefer Samsung-like "easy mode" for more visible buttons Prefer durable, long battery life. Prefer lowest equipment cost, used/refurb is OK. Consumer Cellular Grandpad looked good at first but appears to be closed system, that can't add apps. Fire models are priced right, but wifi only is not optimal. A hotspot woul need to be hidden, can't be plugged in consistently (and facility and McD wifi aren't consistent for video) The phone companies only sell 1 Samsung model of Tab now and pricing is based on contract, with cash cost seeming too much more than fire. Advice or Recommendations? [link] [comments] |
HTC Desire 10 Pro camera suddenly all black and crashing phone Posted: 15 May 2019 07:53 PM PDT No major changes to the phone but suddenly the camera both default app and third party app go to blackscreen when launched then about 10 minutes later the phone cuts off. wtf ? [link] [comments] |
Android/Chrome Q: Suddenly Chrome Won't Log me into my Webmail Account Posted: 15 May 2019 07:52 PM PDT It worked fine for years until about an hour ago. PW is all lowercase. I have removed the site from the list of sites with saved logins. Nothing works. I have carefully retyped ID and PW a dozen times. All other auto logins still work. Any suggestions? I can log in using my old ID/PW with my computer. IOW, ID/PW have not changed. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 May 2019 12:16 PM PDT I've never flashed a rom before and it seems like a scary thing to do to a brand new phone. I am vaguely familiar with the process of rooting a phone, but not at all with flashing a new rom. Is it worth it? What are the risks? Are there good roms available that have been tested on the Redmi Note 7? I should also note that I'm on a Linux PC, so any tools I might need to use will need to work on Linux, which can sometimes be a hassle. [link] [comments] |

The ROG phone suffers from the same input lag as everything else, right? Posted: 15 May 2019 07:27 PM PDT I'm just weighing my options for a nice gaming phone in the future. My only real requirements are that it runs games well, looks nice when reading Manga, and isn't from Samsung. This device has nice AMOLED, 90hz refresh rate, buttons, and a controller peripheral. But these features are a bit redundant when I consider the amount of input lag common in Android devices. It would certainly be better for me to get an IOS device, or something PC based, right? I wouldn't know for sure. I'm planning to buy a bunch of nice technology when I get an influx of money. But I'm thinking maybe Razer would be better here, because at least the 120hz refresh rate would make for some smooth web browsing. [link] [comments] |
My phone will not display it's screen whenever I plug in a USB C to HDMI adapter Posted: 15 May 2019 06:52 PM PDT I have the Amazon version of the LG Stylo 4 and I just got a USB C HDMI adapter and after plugging it in and hooking up to the TV it does not detect anything. I tried Googling but couldn't find anything regarding if the Stylo 4 has the DP alt mode. Can anyone verify? Posted: 15 May 2019 10:29 AM PDT Why do some phones say up to 128gb microsd expandable storage, while others say 256gb? Don't they both use microsdxc? For example, the pocophone f1 officially supports up to 256gb micro sd expandable storage, but I want to use a 400gb micro sd card. [link] [comments] |
Apps opening extremely slowly after clearing device cache Posted: 15 May 2019 05:23 PM PDT Hey guys Went into TWRP couple days ago and formatted cache and dalvik cache which I've done before (usually when I feel the device slowing down), and ever since then, opening any app takes a loooong time to start. The app will open immediately as normal, but it will just be a blank screen (nav bar and status bar still showing) for roughly 4-5 seconds before the app starts showing normally. I've never had this problem before after clearing device cache, usually the phone speeds up considerably. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |

Likelyhood phone screen will die completely if it is missing a chunk? Posted: 15 May 2019 04:50 PM PDT So it is missing a chunk to the point I can see the silver underneath and I have purple/blue/black leak. It has been working find for over 7 days since I dropped it and it just leaked another patch because I think I sat on it xD 70% of the screen is fine and all the cracks have been covered by the leak. I'm hoping it works like a bandaid lol. [link] [comments] |
Updated Android, says I have 3x more apps than I do? Posted: 15 May 2019 04:48 PM PDT I just updated my Samsung S8+. It was just a security update but when it restarted it was optimising 393 apps. My phone only has 128 apps in the drawer (I know they need a cull). I know Samsung's have hidden apps like video player being its own thing, as well as bixby etc, but there isn't be almost 300 of them? Is there anyway I can get a full list of these apps? Overheating and loud static noises Posted: 15 May 2019 04:23 PM PDT The phone in question is a Galaxy Note 4. There was an occasional overheating issue years ago, which now seems to happen more frequently. I initially thought it was a faulty battery issue (noticed a bit of swelling... or maybe it was just my imagination... but it didn't seem to fit in right) so I stopped using that battery. The overheating persisted with another battery, now accompanied with a loud static noise. Both batteries drain quite quickly. I don't use anything heavy. Mostly just for browsing and messaging purposes. This loud static noise is almost random... I've noticed it when I turn on my phone. It starts heating up and whenever I access an app with sounds / something playing, the loud static noise comes up (through earphones and without). It isn't consistent. Sometimes it doesn't happen. Like earlier today, I turned on my phone (nothing much was running, I had no data outside) and it was fine. Not always that way. Other times it just happens when I'm in the middle of doing something... listening to music, once with a phone call (I seldom have phone calls with anyone), watching a video on an app and so on. Haven't noticed a pattern during those times. Oh, and once it's done with the loud static noise... I can't hear anything else. No music plays, nothing. I end up having to restart the phone for sounds to work again. This issue has been going on for a while... and I've not had any fixes for it. I am getting an upgrade soon, but... recently the concern of spyware was brought to my attention. I do somewhat regular antivirus scans with a free antivirus app and nothing came up. Started reading about the signs of spyware on a phone... the battery draining quickly, phone heating up and loud static noises were all signs. Though I've been thinking it is more likely a hardware issue than anything else... I've not been receiving strange text messages, doesn't heat up when not in use (only when I access an app), haven't noticed strange behaviours like the phone lighting up or turning off on its own (has rebooted itself maybe once or twice, can't remember now, definitely not a regular thing) and whatever else. I'm not really looking for a fix at this point, with the upgrade soon. Should I be worried about the possibility of spyware being on the phone for a while now? Or is this issue something else? I'll add that I'm not very tech-savvy... I haven't rooted my phone or anything. Thinking about what the noise sounds like... I guess it isn't much like static. It's more like a loud, horrid crackling noise. [link] [comments] |

Anyone know how to use Google Assistant with the Nine calendar app? Posted: 15 May 2019 12:25 PM PDT Just downloaded Nine to sync to my work e-mail, which is awesome, but I was hoping that I could say "Hey Google what's my schedule" and it would tell me my work schedule. Anyone tried this? When I try it just says "no matching events found". I have a Pixel 3 XL. [link] [comments] |
