Anyone know a good gaming laptop under 700$? Posted: 02 Apr 2019 09:43 AM PDT I'm not nit picky on resolution or graphics cards, I just want a laptop that can run most games whether at low, medium or high at 60fps or more. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Apr 2019 09:42 AM PDT Hey guys, so I fell in love with the Matebook X Pro but I'm kinda hesitant on buying it because of it's price, will this laptop give me many years of great experience or will it decline after say 1-2 years of usage? And by "decline" I meant performance wise, any thoughts? [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Apr 2019 12:42 PM PDT Hi there! I just started studying at university (in The Netherlands), and I need a laptop that'll last me a few years (4+ years). Budget: ~€1800 I would like to play games on my laptop (some examples are Overwatch, Dark Souls 3, Civilization, MGSV), but I also want it to be portable, have good battery life, and a nice looking screen. I think average 15" laptops are just edging on 'too big' for me, but if it has thin bezels, it's okay. Also, weird requirement, but it absolutely needs to use Windows Precision Drivers. I can't stand the Synaptics drivers on my current laptop (MSI GP62 2QE Leopard Pro). I feel like the XPS 15 9570 (1080p, 1050TI max q, 8gb RAM) checks all the marks. Will I be able to comfortably play the aforementioned games on it? Anything else I should be aware of about this system? Are there any better options than it? Again, it's a laptop for university first, so its gaming capabilities should be second to its portability and general performance. Thanks in advance for the help! [link] [comments]
Surface Book 2 or Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 9575 Posted: 02 Apr 2019 12:41 PM PDT TLDR: which one is better and are there any gotchas either of them To preface this I am not a hardware person, in fact I am very very bad at all things hardware so there may be (and probably is) something I missed. I am going to college and I would like to buy a laptop that will do everything thus the requirements are:
So the 2 options that I have come up with after spending way to much time researching are the xps 15 with an external gpu and the surface book 2. Really after getting the egpu they will be about the same cost so it really does come down to the details. As far as I can tell the surface has better build quality and is all around a better machine however the xps can take advantage of the upgradability of an egpu and thus is in theory more future proof. So my question is: which one is better and is there anything i am missing? [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Apr 2019 12:24 PM PDT So I'm about to buy a new laptop but I have doubts between an I7 with mx130 and an I5 with gtx1050 and better battery. The rest of specs are the same but the I5 price is a bit lower. My main purpose is encode and ligth gaming, so the vcard is not that important for me, but the extra battery could be nice. So is the I5 enough for me or the extra power is necesary? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Apr 2019 04:51 AM PDT Looking for the best laptop within the $400ish price range or below. I will be using the laptop for light graphic design work (Adobe Illustrator), building a shopify website for my new business, record keeping/finances. Light gaming would be nice but not expected for the price range. Best deal I found was a Dell Inspiron 15 3567 15.6" Laptop Computer Intel Core i3-7130U Processor 2.7GHz 8GB RAM 1TB Hard Drive Intel HD Graphics 620 Microsoft Windows 10 Home Media Card Reader 10/100 Network 802.11b/g/n Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 15.6" HD Widescreen LED-backlit Display for $280 new or open box for $220 Is this the best option for my price range/what I will be using it for? If so should I upgrade to a ssd and or more ram? Thank You!!! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:45 AM PDT My friend is looking for a budget gaming laptop, and I don't know what to look for in a laptop. The budget does not include peripherals. He may need it for some programming too. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Good laptop for internet research and writing? Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:32 AM PDT I would really like a MacBook Air because they are aesthetically pleasing but if I'm going to be realistic about it, I don't want to spend that kind of money. I don't know anything about laptop brands and I am looking for guidance on this subject. My biggest fear is buying a piece of shit, lol. I am looking for a high memory, good RAM and battery life. I am not looking for something huge and clunky, but instead something that is comfortable to use and portable when need be. Not interested in one with a touch screen. I would prefer not to spend a huge amount of money, I won't really be gaming on it, mostly just researching, writing, and streaming videos. There are so many out there that I don't know where to begin! Please help [link] [comments]
Help to choose a portable laptop Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:31 AM PDT Hello, I need to buy a new laptop mainly for work and would appreciate some help. My budget is around $1500 in local currency. I need it for daily office work and trips. Mainly using microsoft office tools and browser but might use it for something more demanding like photoshop and light gaming (old games). From everything I checked I really like Zenbook from Asus but I am confused about the difference of two models: Zenbook Pro 15 UX580GD with i7 8750H, gtx1050 and 8gb ddr4 Zenbook 14 UX433FN with i7 8565U, intel 620 and 16gb lpddr3 Pro seems to have way better specs, might even be a little overkill with 6 cores and 1050, but weights more and has only 8gbs of ram. And 14' is weaker but lighter and has 16gb of ram. When I was building my PC I was told that 8gb is not enough today, and that even chrome uses it all with some tabs open. Pro seems to be better all in all but I really am worried about ram. What would you say guys? What is a better buy? I also checked xps but they seem to be way more expensive here. Thanks! So... do any of these companies actually have good customer support Posted: 02 Apr 2019 10:53 AM PDT As someone who has never really made a major purchase,' the horror stories of poorly shipped units are getting me a bit. I feel like I'd be happy with an X1Carbon, a Zenbook, an XPS, or a Matebook Pro. Want a lightweight computer that can handle lots of web-conferencing and word-processing with some light editing. But mostly I 'want low-stress and easy maintenance as a tie-breaker. Do any of these actually have good customer service--outside of the horror stories that will be posted a few times for any model? Cursor not appearing on my HP chromebook! HELP Posted: 02 Apr 2019 10:00 AM PDT Hello, I can't seem to find any info online on how to get my cursor to reappear on my screen. It is hidden and I have a paper due at midnight tonight. If anyone has any insight it will be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
Torn between Acer Aspire E 15 and Lenovo 330s. Please help! Posted: 02 Apr 2019 08:13 AM PDT Both have 15.6" screen, backlit keyboard and numerical keypad which is everything I'm looking for. The Acer is supposed to have a much nicer battery though. I like the bezels better on the Lenovo though. Any thoughts? [link] [comments]
Student laptop recommendations for >£350? (~$456USD) Posted: 02 Apr 2019 08:10 AM PDT I've had my laptop for years and it has tons of black lines all over the screen, with a Celeron N2850– its time for an upgrade. I'm going to university so I need something that will last at least 3 years. Of course a 1080p screen would be nice but I'd prefer performance to luxury. (Preferably nothing smaller than 14", I have large palms!) Thank you! [link] [comments]

Upgrading old laptop, have a couple of questions. Posted: 02 Apr 2019 06:06 AM PDT Hi guys. I have an old Acer Aspire 5750 P5WE0 and I was thinking about upgrading some parts and maybe using it as a media pc for the living room. If I replace the hard drive with an SSD will I lose my windows licence? How will I go about reinstalling windows and is there a way to know what SSDs and RAM modules are compatible with the device? Many thanks [link] [comments]

GS75 buyers remorse? (Rtx 2060) Posted: 02 Apr 2019 04:44 AM PDT I've recently received the first tax refund of my life and was really excited to pick up a GS75 because of the large screen, the rtx card, and the low-key aesthetics in comparison to other gaming laptops, but now that I have the money in my account I'm getting that anxiety you do when you're about to drop a boatload of cash into an online purchase. I've seen a lot about the GS75 chassis flexing alot. I figure that comes with the territory of a thin and light 17.3 inch laptop, but it makes me worry about longevity. I've heard somebody had a problem with a grinding fan and with all that flex I guessed it may have contributed to some kind of fan displacement. Also, I've seen some things about performance. I'm going through HIDEvolution to order this thing and going dual channel 16gig ram to curb bottlenecking, I'm sticking with the 2060 and avoiding the max-Q laptop cards, and I'm maxing out on thermal paste and heat pad options. But after all this is said and done, am I gonna be getting only 30 frames with raytracing on? Will I be a fool attempting to use this computer as a mobile VR center? I like the aesthetics of this thing but I know about as much as Jon Snow, which is not a god damn thing. Does anybody have one of these guys? Does it cut the mustard? [link] [comments]
