DEC Line Drawing Set changed after "October" update? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 04:01 PM PDT In Windows 10, you're allowed to input emulated VT100 escape sequences into the console. The sequence, ESC(0, allows you to switch to DEC Line Drawing mode, as opposed to the default ASCII mode. The sequence can be found here. Yesterday, my computer updated automatically to the "October" update, and now certain characters in the DEC Line Drawing set are different. Previously, h would output the ENTER "character", while b would output a TAB character. Now, they just print out the unknown character (the ? inside a box). Has anyone else had this problem? (I've looked online, and no one has said anything) Or, does anyone have more information about this? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Apr 2019 02:45 PM PDT Something is clearly wrong and I DON'T LIKE IT. I don't know what other funny things might be going on with Windows (how do I even know that Windows defender is working properly and that I haven't been hacked) [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Apr 2019 08:07 AM PDT So I'm not sure if this is the appropriate subreddit, but here we go. I'm looking for a software, or possibly a way to do it in Word, where I can input the physical dimensions I would like a phrase to be formatted. For clarity, I want to print a banner with the classic: "IT IS YOUR BIRTHDAY." with the dimensions of roughly 2ft 8in by 5in. I attempted to do this in word by using the ruler margins as my guide, but that quickly made me want to fuck a power outlet with a metal cock. Anyone have suggestions? [link] [comments]
Are the tools for Windows 10 privacy a trustworthy? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 09:50 AM PDT I get to know that Windows 10 uses much of telemetry, Cortana service and other techniques to send out the data about user activity to Microsoft. That is fact I guess. Then I realized that there are anti spy tools likeO&O ShutUp10W10PrivacySpybot Anti-Beaconand some others... Also I found project TRON here at reddit. I have used such a solutions last time and I had some problems with Windows updates and start menu, however overall it was acceptable (except updates). I would need this environment only for Visual Studio and programming C# and some gaming. No Cortana, no Google, no any cloud storage is needed. My question is - Are such a solution trustworthy? Is it possible or is happened that such a program / script containted a backdoor or was a data thief itself? Happened to any of known program that it get caught redhanded during such a thing? I would like to increase privacy without regression in stability. One of this programs had a features coloured in three colors (red - risky, yellow and green - not risky), I think I would try to do only green, last time I did yellow too. [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Apr 2019 12:13 PM PDT Hey everybody, hope you're all doing well. So my current system has been running windows 7 and I decided to upgrade to windows 10 today. So I installed the update tool and followed the prompt. My computer restarted and now it won't boot up past my gigabyte please screen. On my Intel Rapid Storage splash screen I'm shown three options. My HD and my SSD. There's also another option that's my HD just labeled a bit differently and its status shows as 'error occurred'. I've tried changing the boot order and all of that good stuff but still can't get to any sort of windows screen at all to try and troubleshoot. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Issue with wireless adapter turning off when not plugged in [X-post r/lenovo] Posted: 01 Apr 2019 04:47 PM PDT Hi all. This is my first time posting so please let me know if this is not the right place. I am running Windows 10 (64 bit) on a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1 and over the last few days have been running into issues with my wireless adapter when on battery power. It seems that since a few days ago (I think there was a Windows update on March 30), if my laptop is disconnected from power and is running on battery and is on standby/sleep/off for a while, my wireless adapter shuts off. The only way to get it back on is to plug it in and get it charged to 100%, at which point the wireless adapter will start working again. After the first time when it started working again, I set the battery options to put Wireless adapter on maximum performance and on power management options in device manager have switched "allow windows to shut this device off to conserve power" to OFF (it was previously set to on). Yet, I am still having this issue and every time I take my laptop out with me and pull it out a few hours later, my wireless adapter is off and I can't get it running again until the laptop is plugged in a fully charged, at which point it will work normally again. This is so infuriating and problematic for me, and I can't find anything online and have tried everything I can think of (including uninstalling and reinstalling my wireless adapter drivers and rolling back my PC to a previous restore point) but this problem persists. Does anyone have ANY idea how I can fix this? Is there something I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]

Restricting access or disabling NetBIOS Posted: 01 Apr 2019 07:54 AM PDT Hi there, Windows noob here. I am trying to setup DFS on an Windows server 2016 EC2 instance. When we ran nexpose test on this instance, report suggested to restrict access to NetBIOS. Now is it possible to restrict or disable NetBIOS without affecting my DFS setup? Is there a default shortcut to log into commercial websites? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 03:39 PM PDT You know, how some people have xxxx@walmart.com, obviously there's no login button in some websites because they aren't meant to have an email inbox attached. Is there a default command to press so that you can access that login screen? Or does it change per website? Google did not help. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Apr 2019 01:43 AM PDT I've created a bootable USB device to install Windows 10 with this microsoft's tool : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 but my product key is for Windows 10 enterprise, and I wonder if that'll work. I can't find a way to create a bootable USB device with specifically Windows 10 Enterprise install. [link] [comments]
Windows problems after getting docker Posted: 01 Apr 2019 02:24 PM PDT I recently installed docker and my windows went crazy. All my game are sluttering like hell, most of them run between 60-90 fps yet they feel like 20. Btw. in games if I turn v-sync ON it all looks smooth again. Of course that isn't an option. I have tried turning off hyper-v, containers, unistalled drivers. Also played a lot around in nvidia control panel. It's weird because the game's run like usual fps wise (60-90) yet everything plays like shet. It's like I'm lost, I have no idea what's happening. EDIT: ok, seems like only fullscreen mode has this shitty sluttering(if I uncap fps and it reaches above 120+ there is almost no sluttering, but still works worse than windowed 60), windowed works normal, what's happening? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 02:03 PM PDT Sometimes my Bluetooth works sometimes it doesn't. I'm so pissed off at this. It's ridiculous that I have to deal with this problem every few months or weeks for no observable reason at all. It seems to be completely at random and has no relation to updates. I'm on windows 10. How the hell do I fix my Bluetooth. Preferably for good. My Bluetooth device is Qualcomm Atheros QCA61ax4 Bluetooth 4.1 [link] [comments]

IS it possible to Have a windows 7 ISO less than 1.9 GB? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 04:57 AM PDT Really need a back up boot file but none of my flashdrives are large enough for the iso I was able to legally get. Posted: 01 Apr 2019 07:32 AM PDT I was on my laptop and realised that I couldn't connect to the internet anymore even though the internet was fine. I figured that I may have some virus since the computer acted strange and was very slow. I decided to reset the computer, but while resetting the computer froze on 65%. I left it for a day like this but it didn't move out of 65%. I restarted the computer and got a message "WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT_STOP" or something similar to the lines of that. I can't get onto the home screen either. Does anyone know a fix for this? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Apr 2019 03:24 AM PDT I recently just updated to the lastest version of Windows 10, everything is working just fine (Games, Browser etc) except for the windows explorer. When I open it, it takes quite a few minutes to load. When it loaded and I click on anything (Both the right and left click), it starts to hang and if I click again it says not responding. Searched it up but couldn't find any fixes, can someone help? [link] [comments] |
