Xiaomi Mi 9 SE - The 'best' 350$ phone right now?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 01:00 PM PDT

I'm looking to upgrade in the 350$ range and Mi 9 SE seems to give me the best price/performance ratio at the moment.

Also looking at Huawei P30 Lite / Honor 10i.

    Ideas? :)

    I value photoquality.

Battery issues on Redmi 5 plus

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 10:34 PM PDT

    Hello
I have a Xiaomi Redmi 5 plus 64 gb. I replaced the screen some times ago and after replacing it I noticed immediatly serious battery problems. Overnight while idle, the battery dropped by approx 50% easily. I've changed the battery and compared with the same model but a new phone, and there is still a big difference. I checked the amp of the battery usage and it was around 150-300 mA on the new phone while on mine it is minimum 440 mA. I tried to factory reset the phone, didn't help. Does anyone has a solution? Thanks!

[Tip] How To Enable App Screen Pinning in Miui 10

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 11:02 AM PDT

You can Activate Screen Pinning Option in MIUI 9/10 by following below steps:
(Step Screenshots on source: http://en.miui.com/thread-6183116-1-1.html )

    1. Install App named "Settings Database Editor" App by 4A from PlayStore.
    2. Open App and go to "System Table"
    3. Press "Add new setting" and type: lock_to_app_enabled and click save
    4. Now you will be asked to Input Value so here type "1" (to turn ON) or "0" (to turn OFF)

Now you can Pin Apps from recent apps screen. To Unpin an app press Power + Home button.

NOTE: Please don't use screen pinning in 'full screen gesture' mode as it'll not work as intended and can cause problems.

Mi 9 owners, how was it so far?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 12:28 AM PDT

Hi. I plan to buy a Mi 9 next month. And if ever I continue, this will be my first time with a Xiaomi. Ever since I switched to android years ago, I have always used a Sony. Because of many things like it has become too pricey and it became increasingly hard to find, I decided to find another brand.

I just want to know: how was your experience? I heard about the ads and I have already read about how you can get rid of them, but still i am pretty worried if they are really that invasive or annoying. Aside from that, I want to know if the camera performance is as great as they claim it to be, and how's the audio quality using the usb c port?

I'm still not sure if I will push through with this because of its lack of 3.5mm jack and sd card slot. Did you ever feel you are missing out a lot by not having those?

That's all thanks in advance for any help.

Weird lags when opening apps on Mi A2

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 10:30 AM PDT

Since the last march update everything went wrong. When I tap to open apps, there is a noticeable delay before it starts to actually open. Even in camera, when I press the button to take the picture, it waits a good 1 second before you hear the *click* sound. This never happened before the last patch, even on the first march update it was okay. I saw people on Mi forums say it's happening to them. Can we all submit a bug report in the feedback app to get this fixed asap? I'd record a video of it, but can't get a hold of a second phone.

Remove stuck SIM tray from Pocophone F1?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 07:02 PM PDT

Just like the title, how do I remove the SIM tray? No matter how much I move the pin around, it's not ejecting.

It worked when I installed my SIM card, but it doesn't seem to work now.

I bought a second-hand Mix 2 and factory-reseted it. Apparently it had an mi account logged in and now it's stuck in the "This device is locked" menu.

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 11:26 AM PDT

The title pretty much says it all. Bought a Mi Mix 2 off of the second-hand market, came home, factory reseted, now stuck in the 'This device is locked'. Is there anything I can do besides asking the previous owner about the password? He most probably wasn't the account's owner judging by the phone number on the locked screen (the phone number is from Germany, I'm from Romania and bought the phone from here).

Please help me, I really want to use this beauty of a phone but am unable to.

    Upgrade my redmi 3

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 12:36 PM PDT

    Hello fellow redditors.

Just like I mention in the topic I want to upgrade my old smartphone, I want upgrade it to note 7 pro version, but it wont get global release, I want a good camera for taking pictures and vids, maybe to play some hearthstone in near future maybe some gwent, and listen to music, I enjoy and sometime can just only watch vids on my phone so this would be good if it have a good screen, I live in poland so I dont want to spend more than 400 $ (usd) or 360 € (Euro) on the phone, and thats is the max so i'll love to buy it for less and in that price also have an extra case. So i'll be glad to take any suggestions, I watched review on pocophone f1 (This one) and i'm scared if it would be good enough, any ideas or suggestions will be great, and thanks for reading, hope you have a good day.

Want to upgrade my Redmi Note 5

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 08:51 AM PDT

I'm interested to upgrade my RN5. But I'm not sure to buy a device yet or delay it until next arrivals of smartphones.

Redmi Note 7 looks pretty disappointing to upgrade to, more likely a downgrade. (except cpu) I'm interested to get a Pocophone F1, but I am worried that in the next days or weeks POCO would may announce a new device. and at last also Mi 9 looks good, but still too expensive for me yet. Do you have any suggestions?

Mi Notebook Pro can't wake up after sleep

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 04:12 PM PDT

You know the plot a this point, on reddit there are something like 5 ore 6 posts about this. But for the people that are late to the party, here is a quick description of the thing:

1-I was using my mi notebook pro 2-I've closed the display to enter in sleep mode 3-After about an hour I've tried to wake the notebook pro up by just opening up the screen and pushing the power button (just like all the other times that I've done that), but nothing happened 4-Here the horror begins, just like all the other people with this situation I've tried to force the shutdown by pressing the power button for 5-10 seconds and infact the pc turned off but now nothing, it doesn't turn on or anything, the damn battery led just blinks if you keep pressing the power button while it's charging.

Well after this super quick introduction it seems pretty damn obvious that this is a common problem of this Notebook, I've seen people around here with different configurations with the same problem.

And for configuration i don't mean only the HW config, I'm also talking about SW configuration.

In fact I've got this problem while i was using mac os Mojave but I've also seen people on Windows and some linux distros too so it just seems like a common problem non depending on the os.

I Know that there are 2 very popular solution to this, one is to open the pc and do an unplug-replug of the battery, and there is an another one (which i didn't completely understand) is still about unplug-replug the battery but there is also something about unplug-replug the camera(???).

How can i disconnect the camera?

And are these the only existing solutions?

MIUI 9 on Redmi Note 2 - system apps can't update

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 03:32 PM PDT

Installed latest stable MIUI from miui.com on my Redmi Note 2. All the system programs can not be updated with Google Play. Also they can't be uninstalled with any program with root access. Either by "uninstalling" in Titanium Backup or just deleting apk file. It says "ok, I deleted it" but when you refresh the folder, files are there.

It's like system is mounted in read only.

Tried to wipe everything except user storage and install MIUI rom multiple times. No changes.

BTW, is there any working non-MIUI firmware for this device?

Gadgetshieldz/Dbrand skins for Xiaomi mi 9 or similar

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 03:12 PM PDT

    Hi Reddit!

I ordered Xiaomi mi 9, but Gadgetshieldz don't make skins for it. Sad, i think, they beautiful.

Dbrand too, but they make only backplate skins, and not make skins for Xiaomi. Very sad.

Maybe You know a similar maker, who make and delivered in Russia?

Xioami mi 8 lite camera problem

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 03:00 PM PDT

Hey, I bought Xiaomi mi 8 lite like 2 months ago and everything was cool, then I upgraded to Android 9 since the MIUI allowed me to do so. Since then I have problem with camera not saving the pictures took. Every time I snap the pic and try to open it, the pic just disappears. I tried resetting camera settings and even deleting all the data related to camera (in app manager). None of these helped. Anyone got the same problem?

Soon upgrading from stock Nexus 5X to Mi Mix 2S, what software features will I miss on MIUI?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 02:37 PM PDT

My Nexus 5X has bootlooped and is ultimately done for good after 2.5 years. Unfortunately there aren't any official Pixel devices available for sale in my country, so I decided to pick up Mix 2S.

    Some of the questions follow.

Can Google Assistant be called from a locked screen, like on Google devices?

Is there a swipe on the fingerprint sensor gesture to bring down notification shade wherever app I am?

Is it possible to replace default Xiaomi apps for Google ones, such as Calendar, Gallery, Contacts?
