Posted: 30 Mar 2019 05:18 PM PDT Hi everyone, I finally got my old Windows XP laptop working again after years and I decided that for old times sake I should see if it was still able to connect to the Wi-Fi and sure enough it could. It ran a version of Bing but no websites at all would load up. I kept trying to open websites like Reddit, Google and YouTube but no luck. After 10 minutes I remembered that I just made a huge mistake because I was unaware of the fact Windows XP has been out of service for years now and I immediately took out the ethernet cable and closed the browser for I feared botnets or some other sort of virus I went straight to my Dad about the issue ( who has a degree in I.T security ) and he said that what I done was stupid ( I agree with him ) But I'm worrying that my router or wi-fi connection could be affected, I don't really care if my XP laptop is infected with anything, it has no personal or financial data on it and I never ever use it, but if there is a possibility of botnets or viruses having a presence in my wifi how can I detect it and get rid of it? | Cannot connect to EA login servers/Origin - Nothing has worked Posted: 30 Mar 2019 11:33 PM PDT Hello. I am having a strange problem, spent a couple of hours on it, not having any luck. I, for some reason, cannot connect to the EA/Origin login servers. I was able to a few days ago, and haven't tried to play anything until earlier today. Two pictures, showing what it looks like. I've messed around in my firewall, looking for anything blocking the connection, I've reinstalled Origin multiple times (this is prior to realizing it was the EA servers themselves). I've disabled all firewalls, and put my PC into the DMZ on my router. Deleted registry files per a guide on EA's help site. Finally I decided that a wipe would guaranteed fix it. Wrong. Did a full wipe and reinstall of Windows. Nothing. Still can't get in. I am going insane. Please help. Specs (not sure if completely relevant):

I activated Dolby Atmos only on 'Movies' because I enjoy to have surround sound when I'm watching movies only. However with this setting, Spotify seems to be affected by Dolby Atmos. | Posted: 30 Mar 2019 04:56 PM PDT Hi there I have a 1050ti 4gb and for some odd reason the card has been underperforming lately. I can barely run rainbow 6 in 60 FPS on low settings and some other games also seem to have this problem. I've tested a friends pc with the exact same graphics card and he's able to run games perfectly fine on very high. Posted: 30 Mar 2019 07:49 PM PDT I recently ordered some new ram to upgrade my PC but when i put it in and plugged everything in i had a blackscreen but everything turned on. So i took it out and made sure it was clicked in properly. After trying again still black screen and this time my case lights didnt even turn on. But the pc still powered up. So i took the new RAM out and put the old one back in. And still nothing. Help? Update: I've gotten it booted up, but had a random shut down while everything was loading up on my desktop. In the middle of matches in apex legends, the frames will suddenly drop insanely and when I check in task manager it is clear that the activity has switched from 1060 to intel graphics. | Gigabyte Z270p-d3- cant install Windows off USB Posted: 30 Mar 2019 07:15 PM PDT Hello, built two computers today with the exact same build except different cases. First build went off without a hitch. Second build is not accepting the preinstall driver. I get to the installation, it requires the driver, I put the second flash drive in with the preinstall driver and it says no new device drivers found. Tried using Windows boot tool, Rufus, re-did the preinstall flash drive. The only difference is the first build that worked had an extra USB 2.0 up top that I used. The second PC has 2 2.0s on the same hub. I'm sort of lost. All the hardware seems to be working flawlessly. Just getting blocked by Windows Install. [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 31 Mar 2019 03:57 AM PDT While I was on another software (Blender) I went to save my file and in the directory it showed that I had a folder called "Recovery" (not C drive). I've never seen that before so I opened up file explorer to see it and made sure 'show hidden' was selected under view. Other hidden folders showed up but not "D:\Recovery". If I type in D:\Recovery in File Explorer, it still takes me to that folder, but I have no idea what it is, or how I would even access it if I didn't type it. I tried googling and found some stuff for a Recovery folder on the C drive but mines not on the C drive. Is it still the same thing? And why can't I see it even if I ticked 'show hidden'? I did try looking it up, and found out that it's probably a driver malfunction. So upon checking the status of my drivers, i found an unregistered one for an unknown device, so i disabled the later hoping that the problem got fixed. But it's persisting. [link] [comments]  |
