Here's a list of all of my installed apps with descriptions. Posted: 02 Mar 2019 08:17 AM PST I was bored and figured I'd make a list of all of my installed apps which also acts as a list of recommendations, because, well.. I obviously really like all of these apps... And I hope you do/will, too ! ActionDash - Detailed app usage stats AppsFree - List of paid apps that are temporarily 100% free AutomaTag - Automatic ID3 music tag & cover editor Better Open With - "Created to mimic Android's default "Complete action using" dialog, Better Open With shows you a visually similar popup screen when you choose to open a link, image, PDF or any other filetype - listing all possible app handlers as you normally see." BookmarkFolder - Great bookmark manager Bouncer - App permissions manager Buttons remapper - Customize actions for physical buttons & remap keys (no root) Simple Calendar - Self-explanatory ColorNote - Lightweight notepad app with checklists, widgets, sync, etc. Elixir - Old, but very powerful system information app with highly customizable widgets - I have two rows of custom shortcuts in my notification bar at all times. Please, check this app out if you haven't already Empty Folder Cleaner - Quickly deletes all empty folders on your device F-Droid - Alternative app store consisting entirely of FOSS apps Face Slim - Lightweight (around 2mb, I think?) wrapper of Facebook website - allows messaging, too (on F-Droid) Simple Gallery - Excellent feature-filled photo gallery Google Opinion Rewards - Get paid to answer short surveys from time to time (never longer than 30 seconds, money goes directly to your Play Store account balance) hovernote - Floating notepad I Can't Wake Up! - By far the most customizable alarm clock app I've ever found - free version comes with all features with bottom banner ads Linebit Icon Pack - Just an icon pack that I like List My Apps - Does just what the name implies... Used to make this list Lyrics Jaeger - Simple lyrics app Maps Go - Lightweight alternative to the full Google Maps app that basically just uses Maps website on Chrome MiXplorer - Excellent file manager app, lightweight & feature-packed Moovit - Another good app I use for public transportation routes Musicolet - Awesome music player - lightweight, nice UI, plenty of features & customization options, and it's 100% free & ad-free My Location - Address Translator, Map & Widget - Save locations/favorite places & use the widget to quickly view & share your current location Native Clipboard - Clipboard app NewPipe - Amazing app. Lightweight YouTube alternative that allows you to play music in the background, floating video player, allows downloading of audio and/or video, etc. (on F-Droid) Nova Launcher Prime - Most of you probably already know why this launcher gets the praise that it does - because it kicks ass Pencerahan - Cool little app which launches a popup for controlling the brightness of the screen Photo Editor (by dev.macgyver) - Just a great lightweight photo editor with plenty of editing tools Popup Widget - Creates shortcuts to widgets - the widget will appear by tapping the shortcut. Lots of customization options, saves a lot of space (and probably battery life..?). Very useful app Reminder Pro - Good app for notification bar reminders Screen Master - Great app for taking screenshots - allows for simple editing, stitch/scrolling screenshots for entire web pages, etc. Screenshot Tile (NoRoot) - A quick settings tile that, when pressed, takes a quick screenshot SD Maid Pro - Probably the only cleaning app that actually does what it says - no BS or placebo functions that most "cleaning & boosting" apps have Sesame Shortcuts - Excellent app that allows you to quickly search your device for just about anything - files, apps, search queries, etc. Plenty of options & custom shortcuts you can set up, too. Works great with Nova Launcher Smarto Fast Uninstaller - Best batch uninstaller I've come across - lightweight, quick, free & ad-free SwiftKey Beta - Great keyboard with the best prediction of them all in my experience, by far Sync for Reddit Pro - My favorite Reddit app, with Joey being a close second Tiles - Lots of quick settings tiles, very useful app Timbre - App for editing audio & video files - cut, convert, join, etc. True Phone - Highly customizable dialer & contacts app Universal Copy - Copy text from any application, 100% free & ad-free. Very useful app Via Browser - My alt. browser. Super lightweight (<1mb), fast & has a good amount of options VolumePie - "VolumePie allows users to disable the default popup to change volume media on the top of the screen in favor of a side popup" Wallpaper Modder - Good, simple app for editing & saving your wallpaper(s) Weather Timeline (v12.3) - Great weather app that is no longer on the Play Store, but you can just find the apk & install it that way. **I use v12.3 because it was suggested that I do, although I honestly don't remember the reason(s).. but yeah, works great for me Wikipedia Beta - Wikipedia app YAATA - My personal favorite SMS app - probably more customization options than any other. I was a Textra user for years, and while I still think that's an excellent app, it has been replaced as my #1 SMS by this one..! Yuzu Browser - My main browser. By now I'm sure you know I love customization - the more options, the better. It's lightweight, pretty fast & it is by far and without a doubt the most customizable browser available. In fact, it's probably one of the most customizable apps available in any category. [link] [comments] |
Best alternative to inbox by Gmail? Posted: 02 Mar 2019 03:38 AM PST Hey guys, There have been a few threads about Google killing Inbox (angry. Jpeg), but all of them have been on slightly different tangents and haven't given me what I look for. Maybe because it wasn't asked, maybe because it doesn't exist. All through school and my first year of uni, bundles were almost a complete necessity to organise emails and updates from various lecturers, topics and clubs. Otherwise it's a mess that is way too difficult and some emails get lost in the bombardment of emails received daily. All I want is a email service that bundles like inbox did, where as it comes in you can see its there but in an organised manner. Both desktop and app. Does that exist? - I've looked at Gmail and Outlook don't have the option for once source or both source. Please help Sincerely A student that goes back on Monday (and the rest of my fellow students and email heavy persons) [link] [comments] |
[DEV] Robota Intervals: HIIT Workout Timer Posted: 02 Mar 2019 06:36 AM PST Introducing Robota Intervals! Here's a video showcasing the app: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r9TYRtTkHo and here's the Google Play Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.balanstudios.einar.workouttimer ______________________________________ Robota Intervals is a workout interval timer useful for high intensity interval training. So for example, you can design a workout where you do bicep curls for 30 seconds and rest for 30 seconds, and repeat that 5 times. That's an extremely basic example, but you get the idea. My main reason for developing this app was that I couldn't find anything to suit my needs on the play store that was both free and well made. Everything I found didn't allow you to save workouts for free. Also, they were pretty unintuitive. It was really hard to visualize what your workouts were going to look like from just inputting numbers. So I fixed those problems. I added the ability to save your workouts and made workouts easily understandable with a workout summary. On top of that I added more features such as workout queues and I designed over 20 workouts that the user could do if they chose to. To be completely honest, I'm pretty proud of what I managed to make. This is my first real android app (the others were just tests or never finished) so I would really appreciate any feedback or things I can improve. I already have some areas in mind which I could improve on in future updates. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Mar 2019 12:29 PM PST Hey guys! So I've an old Xperia and I'm looking to repurpose it as a Smart Home Screen. Unfortunately, the only app I could find that is close toward this kind of requirement is Android Auto, and that's aimed at Vehicle Dashboard. Can anyone recommend an app that has a great UI and is more toward a Smart Screen? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2019 12:28 PM PST Is there an app that will show me the people I called last in the order that I called them, with the amount of time spent on the call? Basically a call log without repeated entries for multiple calls to different people. Ie.
So even if I called Bob 20 times over the course of the last 3 days, it would only show the last call with him. The idea behind this is that it will motivate me to reach out to people I haven't talked to in a while to get them higher on the list, while giving people I talk to frequently a bit of a break. Many thanks--im not sure how difficult this would be to implement, my suspicion is that it should be fairly easy. Assuming the cost is reasonable I would be willing to pay for it. [link] [comments] |

Searching for a Screenshot editing tool where I can still edit my notes after saving. Posted: 02 Mar 2019 05:36 AM PST I am looking for a tool / app for my android tablet (Galaxy Note 10.1) which lets me draw notes on screenshots and where I can still edit these notes after saving. Yes the tablet has a default function for that but after saving, whatever I draw is fixed on the image, I cannot delete / change it anymore... I want to make a note or drawing on a picture or screenshot, save it and maybe change or delete this note afterwards. Thank you for your help :) [link] [comments] |

Best app for managing Portfolio Posted: 02 Mar 2019 06:24 AM PST I have a gap in my finance apps - I use Bluecoins to track finances but it doesn't let you input market data. I use WeBull to track market data but it doesn't let you track finances. Is there an app where you can track your portfolio but also log orders, including type of asset (equity, mf, bond, etf), Lot size, quantity, unit price on dates of purchase, unit price history, dividends, etc. [link] [comments] |

[DEV] My recent free app - Herodotus - History Quizzes. Would love to hear your feedback. Posted: 02 Mar 2019 02:13 AM PST Hey r/androidapps folks, I've recently released Herodotus, it's a history quizzes app. So far, I've added quizzes about WWII, American History, Ancient Rome, Cold War and more will come. Next release will include Ancient Greek and Prehispanic Mexico. Each topic has around ~40-50 questions but only 30 are randomly selected. The idea was to make it a little bit harder if one decides to take the quiz again to improve scores. Maybe I should display all questions instead of choosing only 30? Each question has interesting facts so don't forget to click on the "info" icon after giving your answer ;). Future plans:
Any feedback will be valuable, so please, don't hesitate. Maybe you would like to see specific history topic in next releases? Just let me know. Thanks. For those interested in the tech side. The app is written in React Native with Expo, hence a quite big size of the app but expo core team is working on minimizing it. I decided to use Typescript with this project which ended up a totally worth it. I will gladly answer any tech related questions if you have any. [link] [comments] |

Email App That Fully Syncs Between Android & Windows Posted: 02 Mar 2019 08:43 AM PST I'll try to keep this short, but I've been using Gmail forever, and I recently started a company and I'm having trouble finding a good email app to use. The email is a typical myname@mydomain.com that supports IMAP. I use several different devices to check it, my phone and tablet primarily, but also my windows pc when in the office. Using gmail, all of the new emails got to my inbox but if I reply on my phone, I can't see that reply on my tablet or pc. So I've tried aquamail and Nine. I really like nine, and the replies sync between my phone and tablet, but there's no nine app for windows. I set up my account in thunderbird for my pc but same problem as before, I don't see my replies from Nine and messages I've read are still marked as unread. So I'm looking for an app that: 1) syncs all email completely, including my replies, read messages marked as read on all devices, etc. 2) works with android and windows 3) Bonus if I can load all my gmail contacts from my personal account into it. I know Nine is a local client only, so do I need to be looking for a cloud-based client? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Good text message filtering apps? Posted: 02 Mar 2019 04:33 AM PST I'm looking for some good SMS filtering apps, preferably compatible with QKSMS. Also any way I can block all messages in a certain language? For instance, filter all SMS that contain German in it. [link] [comments] |
