I own both a Xiaomi Mi 8 and Xiaomi Mi 9, both Global versions. Any questions? Posted: 28 Feb 2019 08:10 AM PST So I just got my Xiaomi Mi 9 from Amazon Spain. It´s a global version as you can see it on the box: I already own a Xiaomi Mi 8 Global version. I'm creating this post for any future buyers that may have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. EDIT: Gallery here: https://imgur.com/a/fESKKR8 - Box is somewhat larger than the one from Mi 8. About 1.5 cm larger. - Both Mi 8 and Mi 9 came with the exact same cable and 18W charger. - It is faster on the normal usage (E-mail, Social media, etc), but just marginally better than a Mi 8. - It came with a Global ROM already installed MIUI Global Stable 10.2.6.0, but with a system upgrade available right after. - The upgrade to 10.2.12.0 includes according to the release notes: the notch change to a waterdrop like and camera improvements (moon mode, object tracking in video, optimizations) - You can select the animation for the fingerprint on screen sensor - You can select the style of the always on display - You can use dark mode: very few apps seems to support it, like I couldn't get Chrome or GMail to be on dark mode, but most of the Mi apps (Message, Gallery, Phone, Contacts, Calendar) are dark. Pretty neat - Selecting the 48MP is very easy, as you can see on the picture. I will check file size after I take some photos outside. EDIT 2: Night pictures added to the gallery. Those pictures were uploaded to Google Photos and downloaded, without any filters. Mi 9 night mode looks stunning. FUTURE: GPS and Bluetooth benchmarks. [link] [comments]
How to action notifications in the lock screen? Posted: 28 Feb 2019 09:52 PM PST Just moved over from a OnePlus 5T to a Xiaomi Mi 8 -- my first Xiaomi ever. I'm confused -- why can't I action the notifications in the lock screen, eg. hitting "Mark Read"? I can't even do a glimpse of the notification with a pull-down. It seems I have to actually unlock the phone before I can do anything with the notifications... which is a bit annoying. Also -- can I pull down the notification screen from the fingerprint sensor? Posted: 28 Feb 2019 12:25 PM PST So I can't really find when the Mi 9 SE Global should be released. Does anybody has a reliable source? Hopefully with good LTE support :-) [link] [comments]

When is the End-of-life for the Redmi 5 Plus? Posted: 28 Feb 2019 02:40 PM PST Trying to decide if I should root and install a custom rom now or keep everything stock until it is no longer supported. Performance is OK, but I don't like the bloatware at all. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Mi pad 4 plus u lock bootloader Posted: 28 Feb 2019 03:33 PM PST So I bought a mi pad 4 plus from banggood. I planned to installed the Xiaomi EU rom, since the tablet doesn't have a global rom. But when I go to the setting to allow the bootloader to be unlocked, I have to logging to my Mi account and it says that I need to insert a Sim card. So I used the one from my phone, and it tells me to turn off WiFi and I must use mobile data for the logging, but for some reason I get no sinal on the tablet, and because of this I can't unlock the bootloader and install a custom rom. Does anyone have a similar problem, or knows a way around this to unlock the bootloader. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Feb 2019 02:43 PM PST Hey guys! i've just came around on this sub and I wanted to take this post to make a little question: I had an Motorola E5 until the beginning of this year when i was stolen coming home form my work (i hate when this happens) and i need to replace it. i wanna get into Xiaomi sp's due to so many positive recomendations of the brand itself, I'm inclined to pick up an Redmi 6a due to cost-benefit ratio, do you guys think it worth the cost? My uses for an smartphone are: - texting (whatsapp, telegram) -calls -emails - social media -videos and multimedia all in all -play emulators sometimes (Nes,Snes,GBA,PSX) [link] [comments]

Does anybody happen to be using Mediamonkey on a Xiaomi Phone? Posted: 28 Feb 2019 02:00 PM PST Just recently got my first Xiaomi. So far I've been extremely happy with what I got for so little money, but one major thing that I can't get to work is Mediamonkey. For those who don't know, Mediamonkey is a Media Player (used in my case mostly for listening to music) that is available for Windows as well as Android. Only problem is that the App seems to not be in love with Xiaomi's UI/firmware. The mini player in the notification tab being somewhat misplaced and looking weird, is something that I can live with. But for the love of God, I just can't find a way to make the App's player show up on my lock screen, which is a deal breaker to me. On my old Android phone these things were working perfectly fine. Does somebody happen to be using Mediamonkey or a similar App on Miui and know a way to fix this? Or alternatively, does somebody know of a different really good music player that works well on Miui? Anyone using Xiaofang 1S IP cameras? Posted: 28 Feb 2019 05:41 PM PST Since the last firmware update, my two xiaofang ip cams have stopped showing any video to me... They show as connected, in the mi home app (both android and ios), but when I open the camera screen, it just gets stuck at "Connecting(1/3)" and never moves ahead... It was working fine before this firmware update. Does anyone else using the cams face these issues? [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Feb 2019 03:22 PM PST With the Mi 9 being out officially and selling on Amazon.de I can potentially order it and have it delivered to Bulgaria in 2 weeks. It might take stores a couple of months to actually start selling it here, so I'm ready to do that, but I'm wondering if there are any news about an 8GB RAM Global version? I know 8GB of RAM aren't a big deal right now, but I'd rather get that if it's likely to arrive (soon). Does anyone know if such a version was announced or when are we likely to hear about it (and maybe other versions, like the Pro, SE, etc.)? [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Feb 2019 10:49 AM PST Hi, I created my Xiaomi account using my Facebook account and now when I try to link my Yeelight with google assistant it directs me to a web page which asks for login details, which I don't have as I made my account with Facebook. No worries I thought, I'll just make a new account without using Facebook, nope, email is taken. So - forgot password, email never arrives. Okay, new account different email address, asks for verification, email never arrives. So I can't link with google assistant or Alexa. Also tried to fill out their manual password reset form but it wouldn't accept my mobile number. With or without the +44 (I live I the UK) Any help would be great Edit: Also cant ask on official forums because the website doesn't work. I'm impressed with the product but the online experience is lacking... [link] [comments] |
