Wifi issue with Samsung Galaxy A8(2018)

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 05:34 PM PST

My issue stems with my phone's wifi. I got an A8(2018) a few weeks back and I've grown frustrated that it drops internet access when it's connected to a network. To clarify, it does not "disconnect" from a network, rather lose internet connection with a message displaying an exclamation mark and "internet may not be available." Although my older phone seems to have no problem at all when connected to the same network, it is frustrating to always have to toggle off then on again just to regain the internet.

I'm in university and I currently use a university-wide wifi network known as "eduroam," and basically what my phone would do is when I move to another building, my A8 would automatically connect to "eduroam," but will display the message with the exclamation mark, "internet may not be available," and then I have to toggle the wifi off and on again just to regain internet on that network.

So I need help, is there anything I could do to remedy this problem?

Is there a way to circumvent an app's requirement to have Wifi Scanning enabled?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 11:50 AM PST

I just started using the Pei app, but in order for it to function, it spams the request to enable Wifi Scanning. Since this kills battery, I was hopeful that there was a way to make an app think it was enabled, disable Wifi Scanning after I close the app, or a Magisk module to resolve this in some fashion.

I have a Moto Z2 Play with Magisk on it, so I am rooted. Any suggestions are welcome.

Lets say I was making something like uber with razor sharp profit margins

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 05:26 PM PST

Lets say I was making an app where I wanted to give 90% to the app user, 5% to me and 5% to Google... are there alternatives to Google virtual goods with a better cut to someone using an app?

Goog Play music song not showing up

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 05:15 PM PST

Hey all, I have "Children of the Sun" by Merethe Solvedt on my phone, but I can't play it, it shows up as greyed out and when I click on it, it's telling me to buy it again when I already have bought it. Any ideas on how to fix this? I've already bought the song and I've downloaded it to my phone.

Why Force Stop Button Available Even If I Close The App?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 02:41 PM PST

    Hello Android Lovers,

Hope you are fine. As i mentioned in title i am looking for a way to close the apps completely. What does mean completely? Let me explain.

For example Firefox. I am closing that from Quit but when i check from Settings->Apps->Firefox Force Stop button is available. And i am thinking Firefox is running in Background. If Firefox doesn't running in Background why that button is available to tap? I tried this with several apps and results are same. Force Stop button is always available to tap.

P.S: I am using LineageOS 14.1 and tried to disable Background permission but no luck, Force Stop button is always available.

    Thanks.

I have an original Google Pixel, an iPad Pro, and a Windows laptop. Is there any way for me to use iMessage on my Android phone?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 07:06 PM PST

I'm not sure if this is the right sub to post to, I've been seeing a few articles about an app that lets you use iMessage on android, but you need to have a computer with MacOS in order to do it. Is there any way I can get iMessage on my Pixel through my iPad or Windows laptop? Or am I doomed to be a green bubble forever?

[OP5] Cannot toggle Access with Voice Match

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 07:00 PM PST

    Hey r/AndroidQuestions!

I'm pulling my hairs out on this one. Up to this point, using "Ok Google" with the screen on has been working just fine. I use this religiously in the car to make calls and perform other tasks.

For whatever reason, "Ok Google" just decided to stop working today on my drive home. Here is a list of the things I have tried.

    1) Disable/Install factory version
    2) Rebooted phone
    3) Installed updates from the Play Store
    4) Have retrained the voice model for Google several times

When I go to toggle "Access with Voice Match" (which is what I think I am trying to do to resume the old functionality), it turns on then straight off.

I'm honestly just about ready to wipe the phone and start over again, as this is a function I really really like about Google, but figured I would post here for suggestions first.

    Thanks guys!

Reliable site to buy used androids? Worth it?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 10:17 PM PST

Really need a new phone (Current V20 user thats going down the shitter) and was wondering if buying a used phone is risky and/or worth the price difference? Is so, whats some good sites to do it? Should I do amazon for their return policy (30days) or are there better sellers?

Also, any phone reconmendations? Price range is 400~, I was looking at things like the Note 8, but never had samsung or anything like that b/f

    Thanks

Google Assistant not responding when screen locked Android 9

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 09:53 PM PST

    Hey Reddit,

I have a Nokia 5 2017 with Android 9.0. Just today I noticed (when listening to music with headphones) that I can't summon Google Assistant anymore (by long pressing the button) since the update from Oreo to Pie. Everytime I have to awkwardly wiggle my finger in the pocket onto the scanner before I can summon the Assistant. And after I'm done, I have to stick my finger further down in my pocket to lock the phone...

If I was wrong somewhere please orrect me, if you have an answer please comment this post and keep the comments if they're mean/heartless.

    Thank you for your time.

Are there phone cases that attaches a key chain on the case which would let us attach the chain to our belt?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 09:15 PM PST

If not someone should make something like that. I'd like one so I know for sure my phone would never fall out of my pocket. I know wallets have this but I never seen one for cellphones. there are phone pouches but those are too damn big and inconvenient.

    Moto g5+ storage space question

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 03:14 PM PST

Hello. I got a message today on my phone telling me that my storage space is running out.

However when I open the settings I have 21% used and 126 gb free. Opening the storage setting for a further breakdown it shows that I have 21.33 GB used of 32 GB internal shared storage, and 1.89 GB used of 128 GB sanDisk SD card. My SD card is formatted as internal storage, and I was under the impression that this should not happen.

This is my second SD card as last year my SD card got corrupted (not sure how) and I couldn't fix it so I had to buy a new one. With that SD card I had much more data on my phone (used of 60gb of just the SB card) so I have had experience where formatting the SD card as internal storage should work as intended.

When I open the internal shared storage section it gives me a breakdown with the majority of the space being taken up by 10gb of photos and videos. I do not want to delete these as I watch the videos I have on there. When I plug my phone to my PC there is no folder marked sd or anything of the like so I cannot transfer files to it from there, and there is also no option from the file editor in the photos app that it directs me to when I click on it in the settings.

As stated in the title, my phone is a Moto G5+
Any advice or steps I should take?

    Thanks.

Thinking to upgrade to a2 lite but...

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 12:19 PM PST

Hi first time posting, I currently thinking about buying an a2 lite for Amazon where's kinda affordable in my country. The doubt comes from that I have an s6 edge now and while in paper the a2 looks better I'm wondering if a budget phone from last year can surpass an flagship phone from almost 4 years ago? Would I be loosing something from an Samsung device? ( Don't use any of the Samsung services and apps)

Is there any way for Smart Lock to to work at Home?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 08:09 PM PST

We've all established that Trusted Places plain doesn't work. It works for me about 5% of the time. The best solution I can think of for keeping my phone unlocked while I am home is to use Trusted Devices and pair a Bluetooth device with my phone. This is, however, the tricky part.

Try Pairing Laptop - Laptop goes into sleep mode, phone locks. Try Pairing Bluetooth Speaker - In order to stay connected, call audio or media audio must be enabled for the speaker. I want neither of these things. Try Pairing Bluetooth Receiver - Media playback must be enabled, which I do not want. Try Pairing Bluetooth Keyboard - Works until keyboard goes into sleep mode. At this point I've wasted so much money on different Bluetooth devices that I've bought for the sole purpose of keeping my phone unlocked while home. If only Trusted Wi-Fi network was an option.

If anyone has an idea for the perfect device to pair with my phone that will stay paired 24/7 without having to use it for call or media audio, please let me know. Any input at all is appreciated. I'm considering a cheap smartwatch and leaving it plugged in to charge 24/7, but I'm worried that the range will be poor. Would a bluetooth Webcam or Printer work?

    Any thoughts help, thanks.

how do i distribute my hello world android app to friends and family and emulator questions

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 08:07 PM PST

Im honestly very frustrated figuring out how to display that phone on the android sdk. I have googled and tried things, I think this device(windows 10 hp laptop) doesn't support hardware accelaration. What can I do to debug and view my app? This is a very big obstacle to learning android and may as well be the shoe that steps on the plant before it could even grow into a fruit-bearing tree.

I am downloading an arm instead of x86 from a stackoverflow answer, system image... but I think it is android 7 instead of 9, What can I do? Thanks, I'm pulling my hair out!

Samasung Galaxy s7 Java plugin issues

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 11:56 AM PST

Ok, there is a program for work that, up to December of 2018, still worked on any of the 3 browsers that I have on my phone. As of last week I now get the notification that I need the Java 1.7.0_21 or higher plugin.

I have made sure that Java was enabled on all 3 browsers and it was. Since then, and to no avail, I have searched the internet for a few hours trying to find a workaround since android apparently can not access the .exe files that I downloaded from the Java plugin link that appears in the site after I log into the site. A couple of my buddies who work in networking have said that it must be something server side that is causing the issue, but I figure that would require my phone to be targeted specifically since at least two of my coworkers are still able to access that site on their android phones.

So I have come here to see if there is something I am missing or to find out if my battle is futile.

Thank you ahead of time for any assistance that may be provided.
