My wife has deleted the photo and video evidence of her abusing me, please is there some way to recover files deleted from Google Photos?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 11:51 PM PST

Please. She went into Google photos and deleted everything incriminating for her (I still have the audio recordings) and then deleted it from the bin, is there any way that I can recover the files either by Android app or PC? I know about things like Recuva but this doesn't work with later versions of Android the way it used to.

I am using Xiaomi Mi A2 running Android 9, unrooted. Please help me.

People how do you discover new and interesting android apps.?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 07:34 AM PST

The play store is a mess to navigate through, if you don't have a fixed target in mind.

example : it's showing TikTok and Instagram for the past 2 weeks in the main screen :/

Legitimately Exploiting In-App Payment on Google Play

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 11:37 AM PST

Would you pay over €200/month or €400/month if you forget to unsubscribe after 3 day trial period? This payment is not for functionality but for removing ads. It is obvious that is not worth that kind of money!

These 2 apps have all-together over 600,000 installs with lot of scammed users.

After 3 day trial user can cancel, however if he forgets it is already 72 hours after subscription.

    Problem is that:

    1) Google refunds only withing 48 hours.

    2) Developer doesn't responds because he created this apps on purpose with this scam intentions.

I built a new open source material theme music player that works all form factors (phones, wear, auto, cast, assistant) and uses latest tools (Kotlin, Architecture components, Room, Databinding)

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:36 PM PST

    Hey Reddit,

Around 6 months back, I decided to completely rewrite my Timber music player and today I have published the new version, TimberX.

    https://github.com/naman14/TimberX

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.naman14.timberx

TimberX is built with latest development tools and design patterns.

    • Written in Kotlin
    • Android Architecture Components (ViewModels, Livedata, Room)
    • Databinding

TimberX works across all devices including

    • Phones
    • Android Wear
    • Android Auto
    • Chromecast and other cast devices
    • Google Assistant

I know that there are lots of music players out there but I always wanted to rewrite my original music player in Kotlin and properly explore the capabilities of the MediaSession APIs in Android. This new version is built on a single MediaBrowserService that is used by all connecting clients.

Looking forward to the feedback on the architecture of the app and contributions are welcome. Thanks!

Now that blackr is gone looking for a alternative

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 09:48 AM PST

I only need something that can lock inputs so my game can stay on in my pocket without turning everything else on.Bonus point if it has a mode to change what the screen shows. So it won't show my game but anything else is fine.

What are some good free running apps?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 11:29 AM PST

My watch's GPS sucks (shame on you samsung) so I'm stuck using my phone to track my runs. I normally use Pacer for long runs where the pace doesn't really matter and I can take my phone out of my pocket, check the distance and put it back (about 15 seconds). Pacer is a great app, but you have to pay 8€ per month for voice feedback, which I can't do because I don't have a credit card.

On tempo runs, where I can't afford to check my phone, I use the Asics Runtracker, which is also a great app, however it doesn't show you your splits after your run, but it has voice feedback on the free version.

What is a free app that shows you your splits, has voice feedback, has a good, easilly navigable UI and a screenshottable run summary to send to my coach?

    Apps like Switcher Go

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 08:26 AM PST

Can anyone recommend and Android app (for pixel 3), that's similar to Switcher Go for the iPhone? Switcher lets you stream recorded videos in YouTube and FB without having to subscribe to a monthly plan (it's free).

It's an app that links your phones and computers and stuff but whenever I try to create an account it says 'We were unable to create your account at this time, please contact customer support' but I can't find any customer support anywhere except for FAQs which didn't help.

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 07:40 AM PST

I hate opening Google Maps and the directions are being screamed at me but then I want different apps to have different volume levels. Is there an app that does this? I have the Pixel 3 XL btw.

Any app to capture screenshots like MIUI gestures?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 11:55 AM PST

On MIUI you can swipe 3 fingers down on the screen and then it takes the screenshot.

Do you know an app that could do it or is that an exclusive feature of MIUI?

    Blue Light Filter

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:49 AM PST

Is there a blue light filter app for Android that doesn't draw a translucent rectangle over the entire screen but rather changes the color correction like f.lux does on PC/Linux? I cannot stand the apps that draw over the screen and they generally require permissions that don't stick because of Google's newest accessibility permission drama. Samsung doesn't let you actually change anything for the blue light filter on the device I have; it's just either on or off. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Recently i have seen apps being built on Koltin. Why?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 06:23 AM PST

I don't much about software but I know it's written in Java. But recently I have seen my music app updated and under what's new it say written in Koltin. Like what's better in Koltin than Java cuz as a ordinary user I see no difference.

Sleep as Android missing slide to stop tracking

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 05:41 AM PST

Is anyone else experiencing this? The slide next to the clock has disappeared and now you have to swipe up from the bottom to reveal buttons and then press to stop and save.

What used to be 1 simple action has now become 2.

    [DEV] Daily challenge app

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 05:29 AM PST

Hello, I'm learning Android to build a portfolio. I created Daily challenge app, a really simple app that every day will suggerate a new challenge.

It also has a history to see what challenges you did and to do them again if you really liked them!

It is such a simple app but I learnt quite a lot of things of Android with it and I'm looking forward to make my second one soon!

It is available in English and Spanish.

    Link to Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sleidom.com.dailychallengeapp

Any feedback or challenge suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Are there any serious downsides when signing up as a beta tester?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 05:08 AM PST

I tried signing up as a beta tester for Poweramp and Boost, and I really loved getting features earlier (revamped UI for the former, new features for the latter). I'm wondering if there's any serious downside for signing up as a beta tester for every app I have installed, if available. Should I expect anything more than an uptick in crashes, or are there are serious consequences that might occur?

    Picture Storing apps

    Posted: 02 Feb 2019 05:02 AM PST

Hey all, Looking for an app that I can use to take pictures of stuff into a specific album inside the app.

What I mean is, I want to be able to take pictures of stuff and have it saved in a folder inside the app rather than in my gallery so I can keep it stored out of the way.

If anyone knows about an app like this it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Is there an Android application that automatically records audio and video in the background using the microphone and cameras and uploads it to the cloud?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 04:11 PM PST

I am looking for an application that allows me to record audio and video even when the phone is locked, and uploads it to the cloud.

Like how certain applications can take a photo using the front camera on the lock screen when someone tries to unlock your phone with the wrong passcode.

I am interested in this essentially for legal purposes.

How can I change the default display width of events in Google Calendar?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 11:38 PM PST

I use google calendar fairly extensively, and usually have multiple calendars displayed at once. (GF, friends, different clients etc) As a result, it's common that there is already an event displayed in the time slot I want to create a new event.

Once I have 2 events overlapping, they are displayed side by side in the column, letting me tap/click either one to access it, but when only 1 event exists it fills the column so I cant hit a time to create an event there. To create a new event that, for example, starts while my gf is at work since her work schedule is crossloaded with her calendar I have added, I have to start somewhere with unattached space and then change the start time to when I want it to start.

This is a minor issue, but it annoys me every time. I want to set it so events are always displayed at half-column width max but there doesnt seem to be an option to change the default event display beyond colour.

Anyone know how to do this, or have an extension to recommend that would let me do this?
