Cheetah Mobile starts listing some of its apps under "Leopard Mobile" (androidpolice) Posted: 27 Feb 2019 05:58 AM PST A little digging around revealed that Leopard Mobile calls itself a "partner" of Cheetah Mobile, even though its established office in Taiwan clearly has a Cheetah Mobile logo above its reception desk. Does Gboard's new clipboard history feature save that data online? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 01:46 AM PST I've been using Native Clipboard for a while but as I use a password manager that uses the clipboard to let me paste in passwords I, of course, deny Native Clipboard any internet connectivity. I've seen Gboard roll that functionality out recently, but I'm hesitant to use it (I don't want to kill Gboard's Internet powers as I find gif search and translation useful). Does anyone know if Gboard is slurping up those clipboard snippets too sync with Google? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2019 02:52 AM PST Tens of thousands of users of the password manager called Password Cloud – both free and paid versions are at risk of having their secret information leaked. Due to a number of serious flaws in the app's design and implementation, it is easy for a potential attacker to reach the credentials, credit cards, contacts or images stored on the user's device. https://androidappwatch.eset.com/latest-posts/beware-the-password-cloud-password-manager/ [link] [comments] |
[DEV] Depth estimating from single photo on smartphone Posted: 27 Feb 2019 02:20 AM PST Hey! Today we launched an app that uses AI to estimate depth from a single photo. What can we do with that? For now, the app allows change focus afterward and make a gif with 3D model of this photo (check the video below). In internals, we've used neural networks to predict depth for each object on photo. On iPhone, thanks to CoreML, it takes about 1.5sec. On Android we use TensorflowMobile which runs on CPU and takes about 10sec on the same photo. Further, we will add more effects based on depth, like making background grayscale while keeping foreground. If you have suggestions or question feel free to ask! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.roadar.dpth Android https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/d-p-t-h/id1450146137 iOS Also it would be great if you will leave us your feedback on producthunt https://www.producthunt.com/posts/dpth. What is up with Gboard autocorrect? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 06:59 AM PST It doesn't do anything. It doesn't even correct the most basic of errors in words. Every once and a while it fixes a word, but 90% of the time I find myself going back and correcting it myself. [link] [comments] |
App for managing/deleting duplicate files in Dropbox? Unclouded not working Posted: 27 Feb 2019 09:24 AM PST Hello, I have dropbox and have many duplicate files. I was looking for an app that would scan my dropbox and find the duplicates and let me delete them en masse. I heard of Unclouded, but no matter how many times I log in and connect my dropbox, it takes me back to the log in screen. Does anyone know of an alternative I could use? [link] [comments] |
Should I update Titanium Backup today ? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 06:44 AM PST After the recent developments, Titanium backup was removed from the play store and now it's back again and had a new update. • Removed all SMS/Call log backup/restore features for non-rooted devices, in compliance with Google's Developer Policy. • Removed rooting instructions from the Knowledge Base, in compliance with Google's Device and Network Abuse policy. • Minor bugfixes. This is the changelog. Will l lose any features or functionality ? [link] [comments] |
Any 2 player multiplayer game across Android and IOS? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 07:48 AM PST I was frankly shocked with the lack of non action multiplayer across both the ecosystem. Basic games like air hockey isn't there as multiplayer which can be played with android and IOS. Do you guys know any non-action (shooter) games..? THANKS [link] [comments] |

Looking for a "wallpaper enginelike" app for Android Posted: 27 Feb 2019 07:25 AM PST Hello, I have been using Wallpaper Engine on my PC for a long time and wanted to get something similar for my Smartphone. I only use the playlist feature in Wallpaper Engine, because I like the possibility of seeing all the cool wallpapers that are on the steam workshop in a rotation. I tried using an app called "Wallpaper Changer" on Android and it works pretty straight forward, I have to select the app as the live wallpaper of my launcher and then I can select which wallpapers I wish to see and I can "tell" the app to switch the wallpaper e.g. every 30 minutes. But there is a bug which makes the experience with the app bad for me, when the app switches the wallpaper while I am using an app in landscape mode (fullscreen) e.g. YouTube, the wallpaper image is positioned as if it was in landscape. I can of course fix it by going into the app and reselecting the wallpaper again but it will get pretty annoying to do it every time it happens (and I use apps that are in landscape orientation a lot). Do you guys know any other apps that would do the same thing that I use Wallpaper engine for (but for Android of course)? This would be: -being able to make a "playlist" to have a rotation of multiple wallpapers -being able to select the time after which the wallpaper changes to another one (e.g. every 30min) -being able to add/select own wallpapers (e.g. photos from gallery) Thanks in advance! Posted: 27 Feb 2019 03:12 AM PST I've used this app for several years but I'm starting to get tired of it. I no longer want a big clock in the middle of my home screen but I do still want the date. I want weather updates, I want my alarms and my calendar there too. The Chronus solutions to this just aren't acceptable to me any more. I know it's trivial to get apps with their own widgets that do all of these things but I want a standardised appearance which I doubt would be possible with individual widgets. [link] [comments] |
Material Design Calculator App Posted: 27 Feb 2019 03:54 AM PST I'm looking for a feature rich calculator app(Think RealCalc) but with some Material Design goodness. Any recommendations? [link] [comments] |
Searching for free backup app with scheduler Posted: 27 Feb 2019 12:02 AM PST Hey guys, new to this subreddit. As in the title I've been searching for an free backup app that could meet very specific criteria. I'm looking for an app that will perform scheduled backups of sms, contacts and call logs and then send them/synchronize them with network shared storage. Unfortunately I cannot use google drive, dropbox or any other cloud storage, the syncing part must be done via universal protocol like sftp, webdav, smb etc. and must be able to backup aforementioned data. Also I can't root the devices. So far I was able to find 2 apps, that combined, could perform the backup and syncing, but I'm looking for an easier, one app solution. I've read about and tested several apps, searched the internet for solutions but to no avail. This subreddit and this post is my last resort. I don't really believe that such an app exist, but I would feel that I've not done everything if I didn't ask directly. [link] [comments] |
Child monitoring/control app recommendations Posted: 27 Feb 2019 09:44 AM PST My aunt decided to give her 4th grade son a smart phone but asked me to help her find an app that allows her to monitor and control what can be done on the phone. She's most interested in controlling overall usage time of both the device and specific apps, monitoring internet usage, preventing purchases, and filtering out adult content. I was able to find a bunch of different apps with a quick google search but thought that some parents on this board might be able to give me better advice. A lot of the apps I found are rated between 3-4 stars on the play store and have a significant amount of 1-2 star reviews. Also, she doesn't mind paying but it can't be outrageous. Preferably less than $30-40 a year. [link] [comments] |
Best calculator with natural input? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 05:34 AM PST By natural input I mean being able to write like this https://i.imgur.com/z8lspfB.jpg What would be the best calculator app that can do this? Free would be preferred. Ads are not accepted. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2019 02:22 PM PST Hi all, Does anyone know any decent alternative to Stumble Upon? I became a Reddit user as I was trying to find something... I am liking it very much but I still miss that randomness feeling :) Best regards, Salvador92 [link] [comments] |

Correlate: Symptoms Diary and Habit Tracker Pro (Free) Posted: 27 Feb 2019 07:29 AM PST I don't know if this would be helpful for anyone, but I thought I would share anyway. This is an app called Correlate. It's normally $2.99 on the Google Play Store, but it's free for the next seven days. It's used to track symptoms and habits in an effort to find correlations between the two, especially for people suffering from mysterious pains or symptoms. [link] [comments] |
