Why has it appeared there of all places, im very confused by this. When I click on it, it asks me if I want to uninstall update for windows 10 x64-based systems. [link] [comments]

What to look for in a laptop? And what laptops do you guys recommend? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 07:55 PM PST Hi guys I'm a new university student and need a laptop. I'm hoping for something that doesn't have many limitations, I'm not looking for a super-intense gaming laptop, but something that can do the tricks. I'm just wondering what to invest in. What makes it a good laptop, what is a surface? And what's features or factors should I consider? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]

Office 2010 Professional Plus (Windows 7) Posted: 29 Jan 2019 07:46 PM PST Hey fellas, I need some help. I picked up a used PC at my local thrift store, and it had Office 2010 on it, and 7 Professional. I uninstalled Office from said machine and installed it on my main machine. I used the key that KeyFinder gave me for it, and in setup it worked. A while later, it says that "This product is unlicensed. Connect to your corporate network or contact your system administrator for further assistance." Turns out, I am my systems administrator, and I can't seem to get it fixed.

Posted: 29 Jan 2019 07:02 PM PST Does anyone know if the native RDP protocol supports GPU acceleration in the latest Windows 10 Pro without using Windows Server? I have a Win10 VM that I frequently use RDP into from my iPad, so I'm wondering if popping in a GPU will help graphics acceleration. I'm using the JumpDesktop app on my iPad but can switch to any app that supports the Swiftpoint GT mouse. [link] [comments]
How do I move a Junction Point (Files already moved) so I can remove the Drive? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 06:53 PM PST I have a Junction point that does not occupy space on D drive but properties shows it residing there. I want to move the junction point so that I may remove D drive and keep said programs running. How do I go about doing this? ' Need to move some things between 5 drives to remove 3 and add 1... Preparing the rig for my son so he can keep the games and move the extra drives to another rig. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jan 2019 05:44 PM PST I started to get application error 0xc0000142 this month when trying to launch a program. Have tried Googling for a solution and it seems like a generic error code that can happen in all sorts of applications, even Windows 10 command prompt (cmd.exe). Have already done the usual SFC and DISM problem solving that every guide recommends, so no point in suggesting that. Have also tried running the program in combability mode, have tried re-installing the program, have tried running it with administrative rights. Nothing works and this particular program is the only one that has this error. [link] [comments]
Battery Saver can't be turned on? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 05:18 AM PST Hi just gotten a new laptop recently and the battery saver (with a leaf icon) works perfectly fine until recently. What seems to be the issue and how can I resolve it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jan 2019 04:06 PM PST I'm noticing slight hiccups and micro-stutters when doing basic Windows tasks like opening task viewer if I put the slider anywhere below best performance. But at the best performance level, everything runs smoothly. I have an i5-8250U CPU. I was wondering if any of you are experiencing similar issues. Once again, the difference is quite minor, but noticeable over the long term. [link] [comments]

[Q] Is there any way to set per app time zones? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 05:10 AM PST There's a region locked game that I've been meaning to play but it requires changing of time zone, it gets quite annoying when I have to change time zones here and there. Is there a way to set time zone just for a particular app/game? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jan 2019 03:01 PM PST I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 PC. It came preinstalled with a crap-ton of bloatware. I have received multiple BSODs with the error "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" and I believe that some of the bloatware, going under the name of "Cyberlink YouCam" is the cause as I have heard on the internet that this software is known to cause this problem. Any idea how I can fix/troubleshoot this bug? Edit: Microsoft has released a hotfix for this bug but it is no longer available. [link] [comments]

Windows 7 laptop "crashes" when docked/undocked - please help! Posted: 29 Jan 2019 11:54 AM PST I have been given a Dell Windows 7 laptop which I use with a docking station. Most of the time it is completely fine when docked or undocked, but sometimes the following happens (about 10% of the time):
When the "crash" happens, I can still interact with anything that isn't Explorer-related. I can Alt+Tab between programs, I can browse the internet, etc. However, I am unable to save files/open folders/open new programs. One solution I have found is to use Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) to kill and restart explorer.exe. This usually works, and I can continue where I left off (saving files, etc). If it doesn't (sometimes Task Manager will "crash" too), the only solution I have found is to restart. Restarting has fixed the problem every time but takes ages. It seems to make no difference if the laptop is awake/asleep/hibernating when being docked or undocked, and it doesn't happen every time. I have no idea what might be causing this - please can anyone offer any suggestions? [link] [comments]
Issues with launching any Installer or .exe file Posted: 29 Jan 2019 09:15 AM PST Hey Redditors I'm having issues with installer files, with what I think is Windows stopping the installer from launching (I get an error related to the file being corrupt or uninstallable). I've tried different installer files, and the issue still persists. I've turned off Windows Defender settings & also excluded the folder. [link] [comments]
[Issue] Win7 slow boot with no degradation Posted: 29 Jan 2019 05:23 AM PST Hello! First time posting here. I've got problems with my Windows 7 Professional boot time. It's extremely slow and I cannot pinpoint what's going on. I've had such problem for quite some time already, but it's getting even worse now. Here are information about my configuration:
Any ideas what's going on? [link] [comments]
I cannot find my current wallpaper background. Posted: 29 Jan 2019 08:18 AM PST My current background on the lock screen looks like flowers in the foreground, a lake in the middle, and a mountain range way in the background. For some reason, the whole "Do you like what you see" message does not pop up, even if I log out. Also, today (and only today) my computer keeps auto logging me in. I cannot keep it from doing that upon start up to see if I can view the wallpaper. I always have to sign out. I did not change anything last night when I shut it down. Is this a glitch? Do portable key remappers exist? Posted: 29 Jan 2019 07:06 AM PST Given a Lenovo computer at work and I hate how the FN and CTRL keys are in the wrong place compared to most other keyboards. Bios are locked, and I don' thave the password or admin rights. I assume that portable remapping wouldn't be possible since I would think it would edit the registry, but it can't hurt to ask.
