Loading time getting worse after each boot on Windows 10

I now have to post here and ask for help because after many days and hours trying to fix the problem I just can't find what the hell is going on since the last windows update...

I'm on Windows 10, recent CPU and GPU, recent drivers, everything running on an SSD, a good and recent machine, never had problems with it. Usually when I boot the computer this is what I see on the screen: black screen, then my ROG logo with the spinning dots for 2-3 seconds, then my login screen for Windows. Very fast, no hassle, been like that for years no matter what I did on the PC and no matter which Windows Updates I applied.

But recently a couple of days ago after not updating Windows for a couple of weeks (maybe months?) I applied the most recent updates and now it takes a lot longer to boot. Now what I see on screen is black screen, my ROG logo with the spinning dots for 2-3 seconds, THEN another black screen with the spinning dots that takes forever before I finally see my Windows login screen. At first it was only taking 5-10 seconds on the black screen with dots but now it seems it gets increasingly longer after every reboot... I just checked and said black screen with dots was there for over 3 minutes before I saw my Windows logging screen...

Now keep in mind that the computer is running flawlessly aside from that once I log on, and I unfortunately do not have any of the windows restore or roll back update options turned on (never turned those things on for the past 20+ years, never needed that).

I tried a lot of things and just can't figure out what is wrong here.... I reinstalled my 980ti drivers thinking it might have been a display issue, no luck. Checked in the BIOS to make sure the boot order was fine, checked all my options and everything I could think of in the PC, played with the startup programs, etc etc etc. No luck at all. Hell it even has the same loading time with the spinning dots when I boot in safe mode!

Any ideas? I'm really out of options here.... Shouldn't take me 3-4 minutes to boot my PC on an SSD goddamn it, and it was fine for years! The Windows Update definitely did something to my baby... :'(

will a board kill a cpu?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 11:39 PM PST

I have been having issues with boot looping the past couple weeks. It would turn on for 3 seconds then off for 3 seconds, continuously. After a while of doing this, it would start up and run fine. But today it would not. Did the usual ram swap and reset bios, but no luck. It is an i5 4690k on a gigabyte board. I have a media pc with a g3258, so i put it in my board. It turned on and ran fine. So i put my cpu in my media computer and it boot looped, so im pretty confident the cpu is bad. I am looking for one on ebay used, but i am wondering if my mobo could be the culprit or if my cpu was just unlucky. Mine was overclocked to 4.4ghz somewhere in the 1.2 to 1.3 volt range. I would like to get an i7 but for the cost I do not want to have another one go bad. Any thoughts on the matter i would appreciate.

40GB of something on my computer that I cant find???

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 08:34 PM PST

So I used iTunes to transfer my iPhone's storage onto a backup hard drive, using my computer as a sort of bridge. My initial plan was to download it to my computer then to the backup drive, but then I canceled it and used EaseUS MobiMover. It worked much better as I can directly route the file transfer onto the the backup drive. When I finished, I was just looking around my files, and I noticed I had only 50Gb of storage left on my SSD. I had about 90 to 100Gb left before the download of iTunes and EaseUS. The file transfer from the iPhone was 80Gb large and the itunes backup barely hit 10%. After some through digging through my files, I couldnt find anything that stood out as very large. Does anyone know what it might be?
