Laptop shuts down without any warning when on battery power. Posted: 01 Dec 2018 08:06 AM PST I've been using this laptop for a year now and recently I'm this weird problem. My laptop works just fine when connected with charger. But after I disconnect it, laptop shuts down randomly without any warnings. The charge doesn't drop to 0. After I start the laptop again, it still has plenty of charge(+90%). It doesn't shut down as soon as I disconnect, however. I've tried booting to safe mode. I've tried troubleshooting. I've tried doing a clean start, reinstalling windows. Anyone else facing this? And how to fix this? Do I need to change the battery? Please help! [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Dec 2018 07:29 PM PST Here's my current situation, I own a PC that i'd like to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I am wondering as to whether or not i can just use the Windows 10 download tool and then put in an activation key I purchase or if I have to purchase Windows 10 for the large price it has. Posted: 01 Dec 2018 07:46 PM PST I have this setup where I triple boot XP 32 bit, 7 64 bit and 10 64 bit but, I can only seem to get XP and 7 to allow me to interchange between the two in EasyBCD's bootloader when booting whenever I try to use easybcd to do 10 and xp/7, I see the choices in a metro menu(tiles) and it reboots but fails to actually boot to the OS selected, and gives me some blue screen saying the efi boot data is incorrect or something I couldn't understand when I don't use metro mode, I get the three options but 10 just rejects booting, it seems to be either just 10 or just xp and 7 If I try to boot individually from each drive in the bootloader on my motherboard, no problem at all, but I'm trying to find some way to seamlessly have a nice Bootloader screen that has "Windows XP" "Windows 7" and "Windows 10" all as options in the list; what am I doing wrong and is there some other program I could use to make XP 7 and 10 all be in the same bootloader? I'm up for any program suggestions or etc that might work My motherboard is an Asus Maximus VII Hero Z97 board CPU is I7 4790k GPU is Titan X Maxwell 12gb XP is on 250gb Samsung evo ssd 7 is on 1tb Samsung evo SSD 10 is on 256gb Samsung evo 840 pro ssd and all the OSes are in Legacy EFI mode and AHCI Any ideas? what programs could I use instead or etc. [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Dec 2018 12:46 PM PST recently acquired this PC off my father after he had bought it and then decided to never use it, so I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and then began updating drivers and doing Windows Updates. All was fine up until the first restart, after the first restart I began having blue screen upon blue screen and so I installed BlueScreenView to find out what was causing the errors and every single crash up until this point has all pointed back to ntoskrnl.exe. I did multiple things, I did a System Restore, sfc scan, chkdsk, I did a memtestx86 over night and made sure it's not been overclocked, I ran multiple virus checks and nothing. Can anyone help I'm really stumped for ideas. Here's my latest dump. SOLVED: Alt + Tab / Win + D not working (Razer keyboard) Posted: 01 Dec 2018 07:21 AM PST Hey all, So I was used to pre-WIN10 behavior of alt + tab where I could tab out from an application. I was told to use WIN+D instead, this is the new shortcut, but it wasn't working. I looked everywhere, tried regedit fixes, etc. Nothing was working. I then realized that my Razer keyboard had a gaming mode that had a "disable windows key" option. I turned it off, worked great. Maybe look into your keyboard settings before trying anything fancy. Maybe this is obvious. Hope that helps. [link] [comments]

The problem is, when I'm watching a video(media player) and pause the video for a minute and look at a video on youtube the sound is way lower then i increase the sound andt when i'm done with the youtube video and go back to the media player video the sound is so much higher then i have to lower the video again. it also happen when i stop one youtube video and watch another youtube video or stop a video in media player and listen to a music in another media player. I tried the communication activity setting and set to "do nothing" so far it's no help. Please If you can help it would be really helpful. [link] [comments]
Keyboard layouts added after update. Posted: 01 Dec 2018 04:56 PM PST I once had this problem before but don't remember how I fixed it, in fact this reoccurs every couple of months. I always have German and English(US) keyboard layouts that I frequently use and switch between using WIN+SPACE hotkey. But now instead of two I have five (SEE HERE left is my settings, right is when I change using WIN+Space). Anyone know how to fix it? When I check all the keyboard and language options on Windows I only have German and English, I already tried deleting those and adding them back in, this only causes my normal german and English layouts (that i usually have and want to keep) to disappear, but the 3 new ones remain. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Dec 2018 12:43 PM PST I recently re-installed Windows 10 using the Recovery option in settings. A friend recommended I replace the drivers with the ones from my manufacturer's (Dell) website. When I was installing Realtek Audio Hi Def. Driver, after restarting the InstallShield said there was a problem and to restart again. After doing so, there was no dialog box to tell me if it was successful or not. The sound is working but is there any way to check if the drivers are correctly installed? (This has nothing to do with the October Update) [link] [comments]
How can I backup and restore just my Programs? Posted: 01 Dec 2018 04:27 PM PST My PC has been having issues so i've decided I want to use window's "reset this PC" option. However, that option only allows you to keep personal files and not applications. I don't wanna have to lose and download all of my apps again. Is there a simple way I can just backup the apps (and possibly settings) and just restore them after? [link] [comments]
Create a shortcut using regedit Posted: 01 Dec 2018 12:26 PM PST I have a file that I want to create a shortcut to and then place that shortcut in a desired location. Is this possible to do with a reg file? The goal is to be able to execute "shortcut.reg" and have it create "shortcut.lnk" and then use that to open the file in question. [link] [comments]
Random folder appearing on my desktop Posted: 01 Dec 2018 12:01 PM PST This folder has been appearing on my desktop every time I reboot the computer. The folder contains this lone folder and within it these two folders are inside. The last two folders are empty. I made sure I deleted the backups I had on iTunes in case it was that but that didn't work. [link] [comments]

How do I turn HDR dynamic switching on? Posted: 01 Dec 2018 01:55 PM PST I had my PC setup so that normal PC usage was in SDR but when I played a HDR Video it would automatically switch to HDR. I accidentally erased my nvidia configuration back to the defaults and now I have to actively go in and toggle the HDR switch in Display settings. How do I revert back to the auto switching? Posted: 01 Dec 2018 09:00 AM PST Yo guys, so I have a Rx 570 and a Ryzen CPU, and I have installed the latest AMD Drivers along with MSI Afterburner to check on my temps, but I wanted to check CPU Fans Speed so I downloaded AMD OverDrive, I installed it and it asked me for reboot, after rebooting Windows 10 gives me BSOD adressing "AODDriver2.sys" and i cannot get into Windows at all, so i guess all I need to do is get rid of OverDrive, but yet I cannot get into safe mode, in the advanced options there is not the option "Startup Settings" and when using Command Prompt to active Safe Mode boot it just wont do it because apparently the CMD isnt with admin privi, so, I have to add that I have my C drive fused with StoreMi, my SSD and HDD making 1 C Drive, I booted hirensboot and when going into PC I cannot see the my C Drive which is basically my SSD and HDD with StoreMi, therefore i cannot access it and i cannot delete AMD OverDrive, so Im out of ideas and Im afraid of losing my games in C drive and I dont know what to do to get rid of the freaking OverDrive whos screwing me up. thanks in advance for your responses. Groove music on Android and iOS is dead. Posted: 30 Nov 2018 09:41 PM PST EDIT (Please read it!): Turns out that you can STILL use Groove Music even after the December 1st deadline! All you need to do is to downgrade your Groove app to the 11V instead of 12V. You can get the apk here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/microsoft-corporation/groove-xbox-music/groove-xbox-music-11-1121-1630-release/ It will prompt you to update the app. You can still update the app if you wish, but it will still stay at 11V, so you will get all your music back! This is kinda a really sad news for me as I mainly use Groove Music on my phone to sync all my music between all my devices. I really don't see the point of it. Why does Microsoft still offer OneDrive integration with Windows 10's Groove Music while also killing the only real way to use it? How is my Android phone a "Windows Phone" when you can't even get music right? Even Windows Phones did it right! I really start to hate Microsoft. They don't even care about their customer, and instead trying to satisfy their enterprise customers. It become too hard to even support and use the Microsoft ecosystem. I might decide to switch to another, and better, ecosystem like Apple. They understand that a strong ecosystem is what the user wants, and Microsoft doesn't seem to understand it. Start menu opens when using windows key shortcuts Posted: 01 Dec 2018 08:56 AM PST Hello! Any help on this is very much appreciated. Ever since i upgraded my computer to windows 10 ~2 years ago my computer has had a problem. Using any shortcut that includes the windows key makes the start menu pop up afterward or during, leading to many annoyances. Is there any way to turn this off? On my work computer I do not have this problem which is also a windows 10 computer. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Looking for a good app to take notes in with a pen app Posted: 01 Dec 2018 08:47 AM PST Hey fellow redditors!! I'm looking essentially a drawing app that you can type in, good for notes that need drawings. MS Word has a drawing feature, but It isn't very good at the drawing part. Is there a windows app that has a good balance between drawing and typing? [link] [comments] |
