    Network shelf for swapping switches

    Posted: 02 Dec 2018 02:43 PM PST

Looking around on Google at "network shelf" I am unable to find what I'm hoping exists somewhere. A lot of the time I am a one man crew when I am swapping out a network switch. Generally the 1U switch has space below it and that is a problem.

Is there some 1U shelf that clips into a 2/4post rack so I can unscrew the switch, swap it, and remove the shelf?

Cisco 819 using T-Mobile's LTE network // Configuration Assistance

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 11:30 PM PST

    Hello All,

I was not to sure if this is the right subreddit, but I'm looking any assistance on getting a Cisco 819 to connect to T-Mobile's LTE network.

I recently got a couple of Cisco 819's to mess around on a personal project of attempting of turning these into personal hotspot devices, using ATT/Tmobile Cellular Network.

At the moment, I only have a T-Mobile SIM and I gotten a basic config on my Cisco box but I'm running into a bit of lost of what I'm missing. I'm still not getting a network connection, as I'm unable to ping to the public internet.

I'm connecting to the Cellular tower, as my (sh cell 0 network) has of T-Mobile's details in it. Also I can send one-way text messages to my cell phone and friends on different carrier network. I did reach out to T-Mobile technical support and even their business technical teams, which ended at least confirmation they see my device but that's it.

One of the first early issue I noticed, is that I'm not getting a IP address from the carrier. I followed the cisco guide and various other configurations on the internet but none seem to help.

I've uploaded various outputs and a copy of config file that's currently in use.

tl/dr: Currently setting up a Cisco 819, trying to connect over T-Mobile's network and currently unable to get any data access only sms in a limited function.

    C819-4G#ping 8.8.8.8

% Unrecognized host or address, or protocol not running.

P.s. (I understand this is failing due to no ip address on any interface, that's my main problem why didn't I?)

    Product Model: C819G-4G-A-K9

    Current IOS: c800-universalk9-mz.SPA.153-3.M2.bin

    https://github.com/Blackbird242010/C819-Config

    Update 1:

I applied the configs that u/audiusa provided and when I woke up this morning, I finally had gotten a IPv4 address. Lots like I was putting too many commands on the Cellular interface as that might had been the conflicting between Cell and Dialer interfaces. Also not having any of the (lte modem) configs on my controller.

Shout out and Thank you to u/audiusa, and to the rest who provided assistance.

I'm off to get the WLAN and setup the rest of the capabilities on this router.

    Dell Force10 S60-44T-AC Switch

    Posted: 02 Dec 2018 03:41 PM PST

    Hey all,

I have a Dell Force 10 S60-44T-AC, that is stuck in an endless boot loop. Despite my best efforts to reset the device, I think all I am left with is to TFTP a new firmware to the device. Pretty easy job, except i cannot find a firmware image available to download. The device is no longer under warranty (Expired 2017), and I do not have a Force10 login. Does anyone know where I can get a firmware image, or can provide me with one? Its currently running FTOS-SC-8.3.3.4, but any supported firmware version will do at this points. I found their FTP site, ftp://ftp.force10networks.com/releases/ , but do not know the corresponding link to download the image.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

Can I get ethernet over this old networking system?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2018 09:30 AM PST

So, I have a workspace in a place that has very old office networking. I'm guessing it's dating from at least before 2000. My computer is in the other end of the rather large building from the router. I've been using the wifi fine but getting slow speeds. So I was wondering if there's a way for me to get the signal over ethernet to my room using this system.

I don't know what standard this is and I've found nothing online that looks like this. Maybe it's a standard that doesn't work with todays Cat5/6 cable but I thought it was worth a shoot.

This is where the router is stationed. It has a patchbay that has the landline working but no other activity. It's not labeled so I have no idea what's going on

    Picture 2: https://imgur.com/dERwka8

This is on the other side of the wall. I have no idea how this is interconnected with the other side (pic1). I'm guessing the green labels are the connectors in each room but I haven't gotten that confirmed.

These types of connectors are all over the building. They use the standard ethernet connection but I don't know if it's an older standard with fewer connections

There are these "ethernet" to 4 pin sockets around that I plugged into the router room's bay. Tried to find the connection on the otherside by trial and error connecting it to what number I think is going to my room but no luck.

If anybody has some advice or reference about what's going on here it would be much appriciated. Or just letting me know that this is a complete waste of time :)

    Thanks
