    Overheating out of nowhere

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 01:29 PM PST

    [Specs] Windows 10 Home 64-bit Intel Core i7 6700 @ 3.40GHz ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. G11CD (LGA1151) 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (ASUStek Computer Inc)

    For seemingly no reason my computer has been heating up way more than it usually does. (cpu highest was 70c, gpu highest was 90c, motherboard highest was 115c) and I cannot figure out why I haven't changed anything, moved the pc around at all, and I haven't had this problem in the past. Any assistance at all is greatly appreciated, I haven't posted in this Reddit before so if I'm in the wrong section please let me know.

    No power to computer other than lights on case.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 12:22 PM PST

    Hi everyone,

    I was hoping for some direction on how to troubleshoot what is wrong with my computer. I built the PC last year, and it was my first build and everything has been mostly smooth until now.

    The other morning the lights on the case were on but the computer was not. When I try to boot it nothing happens except the light on the case turns on. I had a spare power unit so I tested that and the same thing is happening, nothing turns on not even the fans to the power unit. I'm concerned that it is the motherboard but I don't even know how I would definitively find out.

    Thanks for your advice.

    Windows 10 machine requires 2 reboots before starting properly

    Posted: 28 Nov 2018 11:14 PM PST

    Specs;

    • Windows 10 (Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134)
    • Intel Core i5 3350P
    • MSI B75A-G43 iB75
    • GTX 660 Ti & MSI GT 710
    • Corsair 2x8GB, DDR3, PC12800 No recent changes to hardware or drivers/software.

    Problem description;

    My current booting procedure is as follows.

    First cold boot loads the BIOS screen, moves to Windows 10 logo, then screen goes black, keyboard lights unresponsive. I power off the machine.

    Second boot loads Windows 10 properly, but network adaptor pretends there is no cable plugged in, and will not function despite performing standard diagnose problems, reconnecting the cable, disabling/enabling. I tried using a USB network adaptor instead, but this makes no difference.

    From this point, I restart normally, and now it'll work without issues.

    I'm suspecting some sort of imminent hardware failure, but I'm not sure.

    I'm unable to connect to 1 specific person on Xbox live party chat along with random lag spikes and connection timeouts

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 01:53 AM PST

    Hey everyone, I am currently all out of leads and have attempted to troubleshoot my recent (approx. 1 month) Xbox online gaming issues. I will start off by saying that I am in no way, shape or form an expert in PC or Internet issues, but I have somewhat of a general knowledge on both. I've researched several issues and never have been stumped to the point of having to resort to posting my own problem online. I will attempt to be as detailed as possible for my specific issue due to finding a few similar posts with either no information included in the question itself or answers. I will also attach an imgur URL for several subcategory screenshots of my router's (Asus RT-AC3100) settings. I blocked out IP addresses and anything that may be sensitive information.

    Problem: Approximately 1 month ago I started experiencing Xbox party chat connection issues with only 1 specific friend. Whenever we try to join one another's Xbox live party chat, the person who is joining will have a "connecting" under their Gamertag which last for approximately 30 seconds. Eventually, it will say that the player has disconnected in the party chat. After about 6 times of trying to connect in a party chat, we will eventually successfully connect to one another. Then all of a sudden 30 minutes later, in the middle of a match we will disconnect from the party chat. We got around the headache for a short time by having a 3rd friend make the party chat and invite us to it. With the recent increase of disconnection during the middle of matches, it becomes even more frustrating. I haven't had any prior connection issues with this 1 specific friend. I can connect to anyone else's party chats just fine. We don't have any problems connecting to the same game lobbies and as a last resort, we use the integrated game chat instead of xbox's party chat.

    More information: I own an Xbox one X and use the only available internet provider offered in my area (Spectrum). I have the Ultra plan which guarantees speeds up to 400 Mbps. Although, I only achieve 200 Mbps when I'm hard-wired into my router with a cat 6 ethernet cable. According to my Network Settings on my Xbox One X, it says I have an Open Nat connection, 200 download, and 20 upload speed, No packet loss, and latency isn't too high. While playing games, I do feel like I experience more lag spikes than a majority of the friends that I play with since I'm often the one saying I'm lagging. I never lag to the point of disconnection from the internet. I've noticed that when the Xbox party chat disconnects with my friend, I experience a random lag spike (200+ ping) which will last a few seconds. Afterward, I'm still in the same match, 0 packet loss and my ping is back to normal (averages around 35-50). But then I can't connect with that 1 friend. We will keep inviting one another to each other's party chat, making new party chat lobbies until it eventually connects.

    My router and Xbox are updated on the latest firmware. I've restarted my modem and router several times. I've unplugged my Xbox to power down completely and several other general troubleshooting solutions which all have yielded negative results. I believe it's my internet connection and not my friend's connection because of the "Your network settings blocked the party chat" When I was going through my router's settings to screenshot for the post, I noticed that my Xbox's open forward ports weren't there. I am not sure when it when or how they were removed. My Xbox is currently set up on a static IP / MAC address. I also noticed DMZ is enabled. I might have enabled DMZ and deleted the ports when determining if it helped my connection on Xbox. But that wasn't within the last month when I began experiencing the Xbox party chat connection issues or random lag spikes. I rather not do a factory reset on my router unless it's absolutely mandatory.

    Here are the screenshots of my router settings: https://imgur.com/a/ugdDS2z

    If additional pictures or details are needed, feel free to let me know. Also, sorry for the extremely long post.

    I cant install Windows 10 on my M.2 SSD and its burning my fucking brain. Pls help

    Posted: 28 Nov 2018 08:13 PM PST

    I'm sorry for the ranting that's going to be in this post. I bought a Samsung M.2 SSD and am trying to install it.

    First, I used rufus to put a Windows 10 iso file on my USB drive, then I opened my laptop, removed my HD and put the SSD, and tried to install the OS. I put my USB drive on top of the load order, selected "install windows", and then this fucking piece of shit told me that the drivers were missing. "Okay" I thought, maybe I should create the boot USB drive with windows creation tool instead.

    I waited 3 fucking hours for the software gore known as creation tool to finish its bullshit, opened my laptop again and did the usual stuff, and THE DRIVERS ARE STILL NOT THERE. What the actual FUCK, can both Rufus and the creation tool be wrong in something, or am I retarded?

    I tried using the 2.0 and 3.0 USB things, tried to disable security mode in the BIOS, what should I do?

    Im sorry, I just used my only free time in the entire week to try and install this fucking storage stick and only burned my patience.

    Any help would be appreciated.
