| Dark Mode still needs a little work Posted: 29 Nov 2018 10:01 AM PST Theres a few things that aint been changed and are Still white colored - task manager run cmd msconfig volume mixer copying/pasting files etc (where you get the green bar loading) folder options (when you open any folder like documents, music, this pc etc and go to view tab then click options) properties (when you right click anything) burn a disk menu (like a usb flash drive/with a cd/dvd player menu) Prepare this disk/burn to disk menu's (its next steps after burn a disk menu options) devices and printers warnings (example when you delete files from recycle bin and you get the Are you sure message box) control panel (but i know it will be gone someday) Would be also great if notepad was dark too. I have been pouring over Microsoft Docs for the past few days and I don't think this is possible, but I am here to ask and see what I find out. Basically, we have users that use Microsoft Surfaces for their day-to-day activities but almost all of our apps/data is web-based. Because of this, nobody is assigned a Surface and we are not able to reserve Surfaces for certain people. This isn't too much of an issue until I am given the task to setup a 'server' that stores biometric data...I said this probably wouldn't be possible, but I was told to figure it out. Windows Hello was my first option as it has integration with AD sorta and can be turned on via a GPO, but the facial recognition data is stored locally and via the TPM chip it connects to AD and authenticates via certificate or key (depending on how you set it up). What I need to do, is somehow have the facial data stored in AD so that a user can go to a Surface where they have never setup facial recognition, and it still recognizes their face. I very much doubt I'll be able to do it, but I'm hoping some obscure 3rd-party software can do this. I haven't found it yet, if anyone has an idea throw it at me, I'm flopping at this point. Posted: 29 Nov 2018 04:31 AM PST I was playing things (stuff along the lines of Minecraft, was messing with render settings while this happened) on my laptop as I usually do, when my screen and entire computer effectively froze. Nothing worked, and after around a minute I got a DPD_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION bluescreen, but it didn't stop there, as it was still frozen. It then gave me an INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR bluescreen, which repeated itself four times in quick succession, then the DPD_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION returned, ran through the 0-100% and my PC restarted, back to normal with nothing seemingly wrong. I have absolutely no clue what happened, but I'm happy I can use this machine still. I'm posting here just to figure out what this might have been caused by, since I do not update often, and this is the first time I have had either of these errors. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Laptop with incomplete administrator rights Posted: 29 Nov 2018 04:23 PM PST I have a laptop from Asus and it seems the account that was created when i first started using the PC is an admin, but a weird incomplete type of admin. I can't change files in the program files directory amongst a few other things, but i have gotten around this by making another account on the laptop and setting it as admin, but it would be really practical to make the main account a full admin without migrating to another account full-time. Is there any way to do this? I have tried checking the account status in CMD and it doesn't state the two accounts as being any different. I have tried change the user to a normal type then back to admin without any changes. I use windows 10 Home [link] [comments]  | ||

| Question about email client "Incredimail" Posted: 29 Nov 2018 03:51 PM PST Sorry in advance if this isn't the right place to ask! I just need to settle this matter quickly. I have a client I do personal / private IT work for. They're dead-set on using Incredimail and I'm having a bit of difficulty informing them that it could (potentially) be the source of their problems. (They have this fear now that they're "hacked" and someone is in their system.) So, the main thing is 1: Is Incredimail *actually* dangerous to use? Is it unsafe? | Posted: 29 Nov 2018 12:16 PM PST Is there any universal fix to this? I tried manually making a new Desktop folder on \systemprofile but that didn't help either. Not only that, but a couple of weeks ago, my Windows license was deactivated out of nowhere. To top it off, once I updated Windows 10 to the latest versions, my sound and internet connection drivers malfunction (I need to search for errors on the sound system for it to work, but my laptop demands a wired connection to get access to online functions). It took me while randomly digging around the internet to find that out. Pretty crappily implemented feature if you ask me, as it doesn't just work. Posted: 29 Nov 2018 11:18 AM PST I'm trying to come to terms with daily driving windows and I mostly like it, but I'm trying to remove some sharp edges here. Maybe I'm "holding it wrong" and suggestions for doing what I want to do another was just as quickly are welcome too. Back in win7 (I can hear you groaning already haha), I could hit start and start typing and get results from the control panel, including even sub sections. For example, type "power button", and bam, I can go directly to controlling what the power button does. In windows 10, the results I get are inconsistent. If there a new uwp settings panel result, it'll show me that. Sometimes it'll give me a result from the control panel, but only if there isn't a replacement for it. Sometimes I get neither. If I search for "power button", I get the completely unhelpful "power and sleep settings". Now if I fish around and click on a tiny grey link on the right, it'll take me into the control panel and then I can navigate away from that again to where I need to go. It's just a hassle. Ideally I would love to remove and/or never see a new win10 uwp settings panel again, but that is probably asking too much. I'd like those subsections of the control panel to show up in search. I can go through the control panel but sometimes I don't know where something is organized, and it's extra clicks either way. [link] [comments]  | ||

But we could not fix it with the normal unzip and edit xml command solution because he encrypted the file with passwords within. If we try to change the docx to zip and unzip it only the file Encryptedpakage appears instead of the normal document.xml for us to fix. Helps are highly needed it is an important document. | Posted: 29 Nov 2018 02:15 PM PST I've been having trouble with my desktop re-setting dual monitor preferences after power up (all open windows moved to monitor 1). Attempting to fix this I used DDU to remove all traces of my nVidia installs then did a clean driver install thru Device Manager. I am now unable to use dual monitors at all. I have a 1080ti yet when I go to the Multiple Display tab in nVidia Control Panel and try to activate second screen, nVidia complains that "This GPU Supports 1 Display" and will only allow me to use 1 at a time in Windows Display Properties. They are both setup with Display Port but I've tried switching to HDMI with no luck. I've also tried lowering display resolution to see if it would unlock multi but that did not work either. I've also tried updating Monitor drivers but they are both up to date. I've tried rolling back drivers but no dice. Help? [link] [comments]  | ||
| Question about Linked Worksheet Objects in word 2016 Posted: 29 Nov 2018 02:03 PM PST I have 50+ Graphs that are linked from excel as Linked Worksheet Objects that save as images (instead of embedded editable graphs). They are set at the appropriate size (each one is different but they are about 70-85% scaled of original) and all I have to do is update links every time I do a monthly report. This current report is different than any other time I updated links. All the graphs are zoomed way in and only the top left corner is visible. I have spent an hour trying to figure it out but I can't find a solution. Since 2 days, I got some random internet deconnection. after investigating with my ISP, it seems the problems comes from my computer. I'm on W10 Home 1803. In the event log, I get ESENT error each time my connection is off: The beta feature EseDiskFlushConsistency is enabled in ESENT due to the beta site mode settings 0x800000. On some games its just a black screen, and on others it shows the desktop. I cant seem to find any information about this at all. All my games are on steam. The reason to enter BIOS is to switch my main video output from the mother board to my Radeon graphics card. Is there any other way to do this, other than from the BIOS program? | Windows 10 Version 1809 - Sound works in Slider but not while playing Posted: 29 Nov 2018 09:13 AM PST Hello People, I upgraded to version 1809 when it was re-released. Since then, I have had one issue which I don't know what's wrong with it. I have a speaker and a headphone setup on the computer. When I click on the Volume icon on the taskbar and scroll the volume slider, I hear the sound in those devices. But while playing any content (music/video/game), there is no sound in the background. This gets resolved after multiple restarts only. If anyone else has faced something similar, can you share if you found the solution?
