To what extent is Android usable without Google Services? What is the most complete tutorial? Posted: 29 Sep 2018 11:19 AM PDT I'm aware of Y'all store and such, but what about other stuff? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2018 09:10 PM PDT Hi all, I'm looking at buying the realme 2 pro but after some research I'm not sure if its compatible with my cell provider. I have tmobile and I've tried to look at the network bands but this has kind of confused me. If the phone is compatible with tmobile will the services like internet, and cell connection be as good as a phone from t mobile? Thanks in advance reddit community. [link] [comments] |
What is a good Twitter alternative? Posted: 29 Sep 2018 08:13 PM PDT Since the developer of Flamingo abandoned it I am looking for a good alternative. I hate the native app. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2018 06:01 PM PDT Anyone have any idea why random apps will automatically open when I'm playing music? A different app will randomly open every 60 seconds or so by itself. It doesn't happen any other time except when my music is playing. My phone is a Motorola Force Z2. Not sure if it matters but my music app is Pulsar. [link] [comments] |
Is there an app that will allow me to iterate through screen elements using hardware keys? Posted: 29 Sep 2018 06:00 PM PDT So basically what I am asking for is - is there an app that will take, like, volume up/down and use to iterate through elements on screen - lets say we are in Settings menu and it is changing focus from one row to another, and when the right one is focused - I can, lets say press power on/of button (or camera button) to select it? What I am asking for is a similar feature like Tab button is used on Windows, and when desired element is focused you press enter to interact with it. [link] [comments] |
General questions about an SD card. Posted: 29 Sep 2018 05:20 PM PDT Hi, I just recently bought an SD Card, and I'm kind of new using it. My questions are: How do I put music on it? I mean, from my pc to the SD. I'm going to use Black Player though. What is the best way to remove the card to transfer data or it's better to it with other tools? It's just that I have read that people lost their data without any reason, that's why I'm asking. If the manufacturer has blocked the option to move apps to SD, then there's no way to do it, right? I have a Huawei P9 Lite 2017. I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

Trying to install google on a chinese phone Posted: 29 Sep 2018 07:21 PM PDT So my dad just recently bought me a ZTE BLADE AS2 and it doesn't have any pre installed google apps. I can, however, search the google search engine on its Chinese browser. I tried installing aptoide and installing google apps from there but it doesn't work. I tried using share it to transfer google apps from my old phone to the new one but it doesn't work. I also tried resetting my phone but it still doesn't work. Clear cache doesn't work as well Also whenever I try to open google play store, it won't load and there will be a notification "Google play services won't run unless you update..." And it just cuts there. And whenever I try to open the notification it just takes me to the google play store [link] [comments] |
MIUI's problems and their workarounds? Posted: 29 Sep 2018 10:35 AM PDT Hi, I'm tempted to buy a Pocophone F1 but I heard some hints of its MIUI's disadvantages, namely annoying apps and useless features, something about advertisements and data collection and other stuff you get for not using stock Android. I would like to know if these are true, if you can live with them and if there's a way to circumvent them via some advanced settings or something else. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Can't figure out which option is group message or send individually. Posted: 29 Sep 2018 06:53 PM PDT I'm trying to figure out if blue is group message or send individually, there's no words at all when I change it so I have no idea. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2018 02:42 PM PDT I'm going to be trying to make my phone a desktop computer type thing. Looking for a dock that could do charging, external monitor, keyboard and mouse, etc. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
LG G5 (RS988) - SIM Card Issue Posted: 29 Sep 2018 06:05 PM PDT At random times my phone will flash a message that the SIM card has been removed. To temporarily fix requires me to remove the battery and then reboot. It doesn't even make a notification sound, so until I notice it's happened, my phone can't receive calls/texts. The last couple of days have been concerning cuz it went from happening once a couple time per week to twice a day. The last time it happened today I ejected the SIM card tray, removed the SIM, blew on it and into the opening and then replaced it. Has anyone run into this and found a permanent fix? Or have any suggestions? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Formatted Data in TWRP, did I screw up? Posted: 29 Sep 2018 09:03 PM PDT So I got my new Moto Z2 Play today, and was going about installing Lineage when the guide on XDA told me to format. I did that in TWRP, but now I'm getting errors like "Failed to mount /data" and "Unable to mount storage". Did I do something wrong, and can somebody please help me fix it? I'm kind of freaking out that I might have turned my new phone into a paperweight. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2018 06:17 AM PDT Why does Google play services need access to calendar, camera, and SMS? I can't imagine a situation where that is necessary. [link] [comments] |

Android 9 status bar tweaks not working? Posted: 29 Sep 2018 10:39 AM PDT I'm on Pixel XL 1 Android 9 September update. I unlocked the status bar customizer, turned off status symbols for many icons, which worked for Bluetooth and Do not Disturb (including when they are turned on). However, wifi and data/connection icons will not hide themselves, and I have tried disabling and reenabling the status bar tweak, and have obviously restarted my phone. Does anyone else have this problem or any solutions? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Best re-entry into Android Ecosystem that is compatible with Verizon 4G LTE? Posted: 29 Sep 2018 04:21 PM PDT Hey folks, My last android was a Galaxy S3 and I would like to return at some point, I really liked the OnePlus 6 and the ideas of the OnePlus 6T but all I've read is that they won't work on Verizon. What other devices can you recommend that won't destroy my wallet? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2018 03:41 PM PDT Hey guys! I want to make a custom remote to control all my smart home devices. They're all from different manufacturers and have their own app, but I want to make a custom widget (or screen full of buttons) to control them all. Any ideas? I tried anymote, but it doesn't have all the manufacturers I wanted. I thought kustom widgets could work, but I can't seem to figure out how to use that to reach into my other apps. Will share updates if I find anything [link] [comments] |
Hello, looking to upgrade my parents non-smart tv, is Chromecast the way to go? Posted: 29 Sep 2018 09:14 AM PDT Hello, I've been having a hard time searching for a good subreddit to ask this. Basically, my folks inherited an old 2012 widescreen hd tv. It's only 60hz, and not 4k, so I've been trying to find a basic stick/streaming thing to hook them up with. I'm extremely ignorant to the whole thing, so when I saw Chromecast, fire stick, Roku stick, etc, I wasn't entirely sure what the difference would be. Would a Chromecast be the ideal choice for my situation, or should I get something else? Chromecast caught my eye because it was a cheaper option. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
