[DEV] Alternative app to Google Keep, which comes with Calendar

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 12:44 AM PDT

    Hey all,

I used to use Google Keep a lot, to keep track of everything. However, there's one shortcoming of Google Keep - It doesn't have a calendar. So, most of the time, I need to keep switching between Google Calendar app and Google Keep app.

Since I'm an app developer by myself, I was wondering how hard can it be to create such app :) Hence, I did so. Apparently, it is not easy to create such app. It looks simple. But, simplicity is hard to achieve. (Somehow, I still manage to go through the difficult time)

It mostly replicate features from Google Keep, with an additional of a nice Calendar page.

You may try it out from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yocto.wenote .

It is free and NO ads. I hope you will enjoy using it, as much as I enjoy creating it.

Thank you :) Feel free to reply this thread, if you have any comments. I will try my best to assist you.

Best (free) seamless note-taking app for Android+Win10?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 08:36 AM PDT

Pretty much the title. I'd like something that allows me to take notes at work/class on my computer but also on my phone. I could use Keep by google, but I'm just curious if there's something better.

What is the best android app to use in the same way as a pen and paper notebook?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 06:41 AM PDT

I use a lot of pen and paper notebooks and I so much paper and I can never find anything I'm looking for, so I'm currently looking for a tablet to replace pen and paper notebooks. Ideally I want to use the tablet exactly like a notebook.

Can anyone suggest an android app I could install on a tablet which allows me to write in digital notebooks? The ability to continuously scroll through pages while writing is quite important for me as well.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

[DEV] So... I made another uninstaller (100 promo codes)

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 11:44 PM PDT

So I made uninstaller. You may ask "But why?". I think there are two reasons.

    • Stock Android won't let me uninstall multiple apps. Maybe there are launchers that can do it, but I don't wanna change my launcher.
    • I don't like design of uninstallers that I found on Play Store.

This app (which is called UnApp) doesn't ask root access but it won't uninstall system apps. If you need more than uninstall downloaded apps, then UnApp isn't for you :(

Here is Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=vladyslavpohrebniakov.uninstaller

If you think you gonna use this app, grab promo code to unlock dark theme: https://promies.net/promotion/bd4aa3ec-d246-46c1-96c2-d5385fd9d271/

Redeem promo code on Play Store -> restart UnApp -> go to Settings and turn on dark theme

What's your favorite podcast app and why?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 10:05 AM PDT

Looking to move away from Pocket Casts because of annoying things that I've been complaining about that aren't getting fixed, like

    • can't see podcast details from my library, only in the discover page

    • can't fast scroll or even search for an old podcast episode, I have to flick my finger 4 or 5 times to get to the bottom of an old podcast and manually look for the episode I want

App to manage usb flash drives?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 04:30 AM PDT

I have various USB flash drives flying around and although I've colour-coded them (using fingernail paint), I don't always remember what went to which drive.

Is there any app where one can simply take a photo of a usb device, name it and write a note about what's on there at the moment? Probably with history and maybe even capacity information, too.

Does google ban your signing key (keystore key)?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 10:08 PM PDT

I have a google Developer account that was recently banned. I also freelance and create apps for clients, the problem is that I sign all the apps with the same keystore key. I don't want to get my clients banned. Should I use a different PC when signing or what?

[DEV] Created a video game calendar app with notifications, count downs, search and platform/region filtering

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 02:15 AM PDT

I'm launching Play Date: A video game calendar application for iOS and Android for free!

Some of you might remember a website that was posted in /r/games 3 years ago which this is based on - the app I made previously was shoddy and buggy. I've since re-created the app from scratch and it comes complete with a month by month breakdown of releases, a platform & region specifier, in-app notifications and game release countdowns. I've also recently added a search function which lets you find games that might not be appearing in the calendar view.

I'd absolutely love some feedback about how I can improve the app with feature requests or bug fixes - please let me know. I built this originally because I had a personal need for it and I've since realised that people would also like to use it too. Feedback on the UI is also appreciated - I'm not a designer so the designs were just something I pulled out of my head and thought it looked nice.

Most of the ambient noise apps on the play store have the same interface and sounds. Is there an original source they were all copied from?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 01:57 AM PDT

Apps like Atmosphere, Mood and this one named Ambience have a similar interface and a lot of the sounds are common in them too.

Is it possible they all have sourced from some other app? Maybe an open source one?

    Alternative to this to-do app?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 08:58 AM PDT

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/clear-todos/id493136154

This is the only app I have ever used that was actually intuitive and easy to access and use right from the get-go, ALL android to-do list apps that ive read about completely fail to provide this basic intuitiveness in any free or paid version, did I miss one? There is an alternative by KoalKat or something but I can't even find it on the app store.

On a side note, any other AT&T users confused by the removal of the only available way to toggle data without going all the way into the mobile data settings? Why would they remove their own app and not give me back the notification option they replaced with the dumb app in the first place?

    Email tracking apps/solutions

    Posted: 27 Sep 2018 07:56 AM PDT

    Hi

First Newton went down and now Astro is shutting as well.

Any recommendations for email tracking solutions, paid or free, that offer email tracking?

Ideally the following features should be there:

    • Email open tracking
    • Per recipient tracking & how many times read by each
    • Location & IP Address capture
    • Ability to send mails from Android (using SMTP relay or Gmail app add-on or something)
    • Ability to track from phone (rather than going on a website dashboard)

I know this is difficult for all these features to be there, but it's a wishlist and any recommendation whether it has the above or not is appreciated

Some of the ones I tried out are BananaTag, MailTrack, Track and SalesHandy. Out of all of them SalesHandy seems to be working best and it's free too, but it doesn't have Android sending abilities which is a huge thing...

In need of a simple note taking app that has a web interface too (not evernote or keep)

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 08:48 PM PDT

I made an app called Prime Time to determine the most productive time of your day. Warning: the app is paid.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 08:44 PM PDT

Hello! I discovered a video about the most productive time of the day. I made a small research and noticed that there are not so many apps for it on Android. I also saw a few blog posts. People there recommended using Excel tables and hourly notifications. I think it is quite irritating to open the sheet on mobile every time after a reminder. So I decided to make an Android app for it. The app called Prime Time. This type of apps supposed to be simple, although it can send hourly notifications and set up do-not-disturb time.

The app can help to increase your productivity drastically. If you plan your day carefully, there are fewer chances that you'll procrastinate.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.primetime.primetimeapp

The app is paid because I want my time to be somehow rewarded, but I hate ads. Also, I plan to use this app in one of my future projects.

    Thank you, community.

[OREO] Any app/method/workaround to pin a notification?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 07:28 PM PDT

Each time that, for example, a calendar event pops up, I leave it there as a reminder. However, it's easy to accidentally swipe it and lose it! Although there's a postpone feature, it's not practical at all since I need to do a little swipe and then tap twice, and I have to think for how much time I want it to snooze.

How do you manage important notifications that you need to STAY there as long as you need it?

What's system mods are you using in your phone? (unrooted or rooted)

    Posted: 26 Sep 2018 08:15 PM PDT

What's is a mod? A mod is an app that modify something. In this case is the way you use the phone.

I have a Samsung j6 2018 unrooted running stock oreo.

i'm using fluid navigation gestures to use my phone with gestures. I highly recomend this app for that. Works great and uses low ram. Need an adb command to hide the nav bar.

I'm also using substratum/andromeda with yoru theme to save battery because i'm using an Amoled screen phone. I'm using "System mods" mod for substratum to tweak a bit the interface.

I'm using System Ui Tuner to hide some status bar icons that i consider irrelevant to me.

Along with that, i'm using App freezer to freezer the bloat in my phone, because bk disabler stopped working for me. App freezer can be used not only in Samsung devices. In Sony, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc too. Need an adb command to activate the app. I think both apps are from the same dev but i'm not sure.

Nova launcher + Sesame with gestures to lock the phone and to open apps with a swipe up in folders, and to search contacts/etc with Sesame.

To finish, i'm using tasker to automate things in my phone. Such as volume/toggle auto rotate when i enter YouTube, or shake the phone to toggle the torch.

Edit. I just got Good Look 2018 + Quickstar, One hand operation + and Lockstar. That way it replaces fluid navbar and System UI Tuner for me.
